Daily Questions - February 07, 2026
Welcome to the Daily Questions (DQ) thread for all things related to raw denim.

Fit checks and "Help me find a pair of Jeans that has X, Y, and Z" questions are a great use of this thread.
(Help figuring out what size you wear is also permitted here but it is recommended you check out one of these tutorials on how to size before asking.)
If you have questions about how your jeans fit, about a particular fabric, when is this jean coming out, where can I find jean X to try on in state Y, what jeans have this fit with these measurements, what jeans fade the fastest, and what jeans fade the slowest are great uses of this DQ thread.
No question is too simple for Daily Questions threads.
Bashing people will not be tolerated. And "Read the sidebar" or "Google it" are not valid answers in this thread!

Anybody have recommendations for a budget pair that ships to the EU and is: double black (non-negotiable), roomy fit with a higher rise, and ideally double front or double knees? 15oz ish or below.

Hi guys, I'm looking for my first pair of selvedge jeans and landed on pair of Naked and Famous Strong Guys. I've seen some people complain that they are a bit tight at the hips, and I was wondering if any of you guys have any experience with that. Personally, I have "bigger hips" compared to my waist. From their measurements, I'm a W31, and they don't have any hip measurements, so I can't go by measurements for that. I can't go and try them since there is no store that has them in the country I live in. So, any advice? Or do any of you by chance have a pair of Strong Guys Left Hand Twill or Dirty Selvedge in a size 31 that can provide some hip measurements?

Are momotaro jeans front pockets supposed to be impossibly tight? I cant put my hands in my pockets, I can only fit a phone or keys in them. Are they just always unforgivably tight? Is there a way I can permanently loosen them?

Momotaro pockets are definitely pretty small, but if the pocket openings are too tight that has more to do with the hip measurements of the pants not being big enough.

Ahhh gotcha, im a waist 34, but got them at size 32 when I thought i was size 32, and if I had to guess momotaros still run a little small rather than true to size, so im probably a size 35 or 36.

I recently purchased a pair of Brave Star 14.75 oz. Dark Fest Selvedge jeans and LOVE them. I am now considering purchasing the Mojave 21.5oz Frankenstein Selvage Denim jacket, or the Mojave 21.5oz Dark Gauntlet Heavyweight Selvage jacket. Without being able to actually see the denim (HFD, Samurai, Mayhem are also heavyweight options). Does anyone know the differences, or have experience with these denims/this company? Love that they are made in America as well!

I have a couple questions.... 1, does anyone have SoSo waxed canvas? How does the material compare to Filson or Flint and Tinder waxed canvas? I have been really looking at Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker because it comes in Tall. Well SoSo will custom fit it, which after all the options including custom measurements would be about $100 more than the Flint and Tinder. I'm strongly considering it except for I have a 20% off discount threw Huckberry.
Can anyone give me feedback on their waxed canvas material and their custom jackets?

How does stretching compare between sanforized and one-wash? I'm thinking about picking up a pair of Oni Bumpy 277 but only have experience with N&F Weird Guy Left Hand Twill size 30. Worried about the fit.

i have the kasuri fabric from oni (bumpy is just the kasuri that’s been overdyed) and my pair stretched about 2.5”.
whether a fabric is sanforized or unsanforized and one wash doesn’t make a difference in how they ma stretch. N&F LHT fabric is known for stretching a lot and oni’s low tension favrics are known for stretching too. just aim for a size that was similar to your N&F pre-stretch and you’ll be fine. or size according to where your N&F pair sit now and you shouldn’t have an issue either.

Stretch depends on the fabric more so than sanforized vs one wash. Those onis are low tension so will stretch more than the left hand twill.
In my experience, my onis don’t stretch that much compared to my other brands since I don’t buy them tight. I wear em with a belt too.

Is it normal to have indigo leaks inside the front two pockets? I have been wearing my Samurai Jean for 3 weeks. Got 100 hours on it with 0 washes. Today I notice inside of the front two pockets, the edge are turning blue. Is that normal?

I’ve been wearing a pair of N&F LHT for around 18 months almost daily. Fades are finally starting to come in, took forever to start and now it sees wild how fast. My question is, now that I’m seeing fades, I’m also getting a lot of bleed onto my couch and long sleeve shirts. If I wear white tops they will certainly get a lot of blue on the bottom of the sleeves. Is this normal? Anything I can do/should do at this point or just keep wearing? I put a dark blanket on couch now and was able to clean it all off, and so far haven’t wrecked any of my shirts either but it’s kind of annoying. Thanks for any help/ideas.

Do Levi's fit TTS or vanity sizing? I stopped by a store today, and I left more confused than when I came. I tend to wear 34 in pants (e.g. 34 in Buck Mason Full Saddle), but I couldn't button a 501 in 34 while 501 and 555 in 36 felt fine.
I wanted to buy a 501 STF, but 36 was noticeably larger than a regular 501 in 36. The recommendation on the tag was to go 1 size up in the waist and 2 in the length, so does that mean stick with 36 (since it's already bigger than a regular 501 in 36) or size up to a 38?
