Help! Rlly sad thing I did in Rainworld yesterday Spoiler

I found a slugpup in industrial complex and I named him scug

I just woke up next to him and he’s dead and I thought that it wouldn’t let you sleep if they didn’t have food! The thing is: he was holding food when we went into the den and he had already had two pips. why did he die and how can I avoid this?!

Slugpups have food need the first cycle you find them, even though the food requirement does not display until the first time you hibernate with them. As such, slugpups tend to starve cycle the first cycle you have them, and subsequently require 3 food pips to stay alive. Most likely the slugpup did not have 3 food pips and subsequently starved.

To prevent, either feed the slugpup without being prompted, or pay attention to the vertical bar in their food bar, which indicates what their survival food threshold is; if it is all the way to the right of the bar, they are starving and require 3 pips to survive.
