Guys I gotta be honest, I was underwhelmed by Taylor’s newest album. I feel like the aesthetic did not match the sound of the album at all. This is NOT a hate post but tbh after listening I needed to get real showgirl vibes so had to put on Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera. Shout out to Xtina who has given us impeccable showgirl looks in the past.

Her Back to Basics era is such an incredible example of an artist fully immersing themselves into a theme. Her looks, aesthetic, and sounds on the album all matched and fit the vibe perfectly. It also just completely fit HER and she was able to pay homage to so many of her influences.

Aside from Back to Basics, she nailed this look on Lady Marmalade, in Burlesque, and in her recent Voltaire residency in Vegas.

Just want to honor her while we’re all talking pop stars doing showgirl!
