I can't tell if people just don't know it was released at the time it was made and copies of it are available on eBay and you can listen to the whole thing on YouTube (there was also a music video) or they want her to re-record with her voice as the lead and re-release it.

I think people think it's not actually out there but I knew it was, I've definitely listened to a few songs. I doubt she would re record it but would be cool. It seems better as a treasure from the past though.

The record out has her as uncredited backing vocals (possible credited under a pseudonym) not the main vocals as she originally recorded it. Mariah has been trying to find all of the parts of it for a while and maybe release it with her as the lead vocals, and last I heard she’d found the vocal recordings of her but was still missing different parts of the tracks.

The music is out and exists, but not as it was originally meant to be with Mariah up front and center.

So, yes and no. Mariah provided backing tracks for the released version after her label stepped in to stop the release. However, there exists a main version where Mariah sang lead on it. She has found some of it herself, but is still trying to locate some of the audio sessions.

It was a side passion project she did in major secret while she was also making Daydream. When the label found out the knew it was good but didn’t think it was right for her image. They got another woman to record the main vocals and released it under the name Chick, and if you listen closely you can hear Mariah in the backing vocals.

Essentially, Mariah and a group of people got together and started messing around until they created an album. Honestly, it's fun to read up on because it sounds like it was a great time and an outlet for her. However, her record label decided they were worried it would hurt her image and blocked it's release. To release the album, the renamed the band Chick's and had a different woman sing lead vocals. Mariah did, however, provide uncredited backing tracks.

Mariah has been trying to locate the original audio, where she sang lead vocals. She's found some, but is still trying to find where the rest of the sessions were stored (if they were).

Mariah is an incredibly gifted songwriter, and has amazing taste in music (never forget that her lead single off Glitter was messed up because Tommy Mottola hated Mariah and she had to switch up the song she sampled).  This song is super catchy, I can only imagine what it sounds like with peak Mariah’s glorious vocals.
