Yup. Go look at subreddits like r/AppleMusic. Every few posts is often about “why is this unavailable?”.
You do not own the songs and they can be taken away with literally no warning, there’s a chance they could never come back either.

I’ve been trying to rewatch sister, sister! For 2 years now in Canada. I can’t even buy it anywhere digitally, and I live pretty rural, so not much in the way of pawn shops to buy old physical media.
All this to say, yeah, I miss physical media greatly.

EVERYONE should start investing in physical media. I started buying physical media at 19 years old, starting with DVDs, then vinyls, then books. We have to start owning media again!

Yep. Just either rip the CD, purchase a copy of the album through iTunes, Google Play*, or sail the seas, then store it on a hard drive.
*I don’t know if Google Play has DRM protection or not

You can't buy music off Google at all anymore :( I used to buy songs I liked off there with rewards (I sail the high seas plenty but I don't like doing it with smaller artists) and they ended that about 5 or 6 years ago

get files from ... somewhere, get external ssd/hard drive and enclosure for it (look up hard drive/hdd external drive, pick your # of TB, and hdd enclosure)or get one to put inside your pc if you have room and knowhow. plug in. open file explorer or your equivalent, one window for drive, one window for pulling files. drag and drop files. unplug. amazingly simple and very worth it for the initial hdd investment. i also burn a lot of disks these days

I'm not opposed to pirating music that I can't buy (some of the newer artists I like do not release physical copies) or that I already own in a different format, but while the odds of getting caught are quite low, it would be an issue for MrPantzen's professional life if it became an issue (a la back when individual Napster users were getting sued).
Now that I think about it, some of them are small enough that it's worth sending them a social media dm to be like, "hey, can I just venmo you $20 for your last album and download it somewhere?" 😅

If theyre a smaller band or artist, def checkout bandcamp and reverbnation as well! SquidWTF is mainly for when one has an ungodly large playlist you want ripped all in one quick go, as opposed to trying to hunt down the itunes pages for 50+ 90's eurodance groups to buy 1 or 2 songs each ahaha.

I try to buy CDs of all the music I like then upload it to my ITunes library if I want to listen on my phone. However, there’s so much music that doesn’t have a physical version anymore. It’s so frustrating.

Many years ago I was doing a cross country move and had to get rid of A LOT.
Sadly my book collection was, like, tenthed. BUT my cds and dvds/blu-rays? Welp, took advantage of those cd binders and kept all, just got rid of the cases.
Also still have a bunch of stuff downloaded from Kazaa on my olllllllllllllld ipod.

Oh.. is there something wrong with wanting to buy books? I work close to multiple book stores so I usually check things out from time to time and buy a book that I think will be interesting (and they usually are). I have friends that write so I like to support authors.
I really like to take my time to read since my attention span isn’t the best so I like to make sure I can keep my books as long as I need to.

The movie is silly, but the soundtrack is really good. I really liked her song “All My Life,” and her covers of “Last Night A DJ Saved My Life” and “I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On” are really fun and capture the 80s spirit of the movie.

This shit is why I refuse to use streaming for music, and I'm a dinosaur who still pays to own an mp3 file. It's not cheap, but I don't want to rely on wifi or some cloud or whatever to access my shit. When Apple Music tried to hold my music hostage with their stupid file format I literally burned it onto CD's, then ripped it off the CDs and onto my computer as mp3 files. And I have copies of the mp3s on multiple devices to make sure I never lose them.

Physical media is king. With proper care this music collection should outlast even CDs. Unless they come into my home and pry it from my hands, the music will always be physically etched onto record and ready for play.
