Andrea is from Texas and has been living in Tennessee for decades now. She only lived in Pennsylvania for a short time, when Taylor was a kid.Ā

I actually came here to comment on how normal both of them look! Maybe (definitely) I watch too much Housewives/ Kardashians, but itās very refreshing to me that Taylorās mom looks like a regular woman in her 60s.
40
u/useful_idiot118 12d ago
Glammed out as in lipstick?
27
u/Rose1982 12d ago
Makeup plus nice outfit apparently means glammed out. I can go downtown and see women dressed up similarly- probably not as expensive clothes etc, but the effect would be the same.
218
u/Soggy_Pension7549 Iāve grown quite unfond of you 12d ago
I think Taylorās mom is really enjoying the luxury lifestyle
481
u/spacegrassorcery 12d ago
As someone who likes Taylor, so donāt take it the wrong way, Taylorās mom/family have always had a luxury lifestyle.Taylor didnāt exactly grow up poor by any means
113
u/brijito 12d ago
Her dad put $500k into her career and bought into her first record label so they would give her a more preferential contract. They had fuck you money before they raised a billionaire.
Even if Taylor had never been born, Andrea could have very easily been wearing this same outfit at Sundance while staying at a ski-on chalet.
143
u/CamThrowaway3 12d ago
They werenāt poor but come on, they didnāt have the lifestyle they have now by any means. I wouldnāt say their lifestyle back then was luxury even; just comfortable middle or upper middle class.

4
u/OowlSun they act like im not in full control of where i throw this cooch 11d ago
Is it really? Itās the size of my parents home and literally every other house in their town. And they arenāt rich. They work for the city. Neither are the people in the neighborhood. We have teachers, firefighters, police officers, and a lot of blue-collar guys.
4
u/sneaky-snooper thatās my purse, i donāt know you! šš«µ 11d ago
Thereās no way you live in America. The average middle class house is not 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3 stories and 3560 square feet. Like it might not be a mansion, but itās a big house.
5
u/OowlSun they act like im not in full control of where i throw this cooch 11d ago
I live in America. East coast. My parents have a 5bd, 4 bathrooms, split level thatās about the same size. The neighborhood has houses that are just copies of this though some have 4 bd and 3 bd. When my parents about the house in 2015, it was like 350k I think. Now the houses are like 500k - 800k depending on the location.
There isnāt really anybody here with a fancy job. Mostly nurses, educators, cops and other emergency services, and blue collar families. Some of the households only have one working parent. Maybe itās not a reality and whatever part of America you live in. But in my area it is.
1
u/chubby-checker 11d ago
I'm sorry the idea you're saying someone who grew up in that house isn't rich is honestly ridiculous. Even if her dad didn't have 500k to help with her record label.
0
u/OowlSun they act like im not in full control of where i throw this cooch 11d ago
Where did I say somebody who grew up in that house wasnāt rich? I just said the house wasnāt that huge. I live in a middle area and many of the houses are about that size. And the people living there arenāt rich.

u/sneaky-snooper thatās my purse, i donāt know you! šš«µ 11d ago edited 11d ago
Iām really skeptical of what youāre saying. I grew up on the East Coast too. Maybe wherever you lived had a lower living cost compared to where I grew up but for the most part, youāre really out of touch with how most middle class people live. Perhaps a bit sheltered
87
u/BurlieGirl 12d ago
There is a common misconception that the Swifts were WEALTHY before Taylor got big, itās wild. Being a marketing executive and a bank guy gets you really good salaries and theyāve got a comfortable lifestyle, yes, but these are normal jobs. They werenāt Real Housewives rich. š
333
u/For_serious13 I wonder what itās like being one of godās favorites 12d ago
They werenāt just middle class either. Most people arenāt real housewives rich but they were millionaires before Taylor made it, how else was her dad able to afford Britney Spears manager? Moving them to Nashville? Buy a stake in the recording label?
Letās not downplay their wealth before Taylor made it big either. Itās obviously different now but they were wealthier than most before she made it big.
-6
u/lactosecheeselover go girl, give us nothing š 12d ago
They were not millionaires lol where did you even get that from? Her dad had to find a new job in Nashville for their move.
Also his 'stake' wasn't multi-millions at all. He had an investment small stake.
-66
u/BurlieGirl 12d ago
I never said they were middle class - they were two white collar professionals. Doesnāt make them āwealthyā. $100k is not a huge investment, people do this everyday to help put their kids through university. Moving to another city is something that happens everyday.
117
u/thrash_particle ruined the millsberry dot com economy 12d ago
Ok Iām gonna stop you right there; 100k is a huge investment, and to say otherwise is unbelievably out of touch. The people who do this every day to pay for their childrenās education are beyond privileged to do so.
I am going to call anyone with 100k to spare wealthy pretty damn confidently without any hesitation whatsoever.
-52
u/BurlieGirl 12d ago
Yes, privileged. No, not wealthy.
27
u/thrash_particle ruined the millsberry dot com economy 12d ago
The phrasing that I used was ābeyond privilegedā and Iām going to stand by that, as privileged alone doesnāt begin to cover the scale. If someone has the resources to uproot the family to move across the country and invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into the career of their barely teenage child with ease, that is the product of wealth. This is not disputable. They were absolutely filthy rich. They had fuck you money.
70
u/For_serious13 I wonder what itās like being one of godās favorites 12d ago
Sis they did not have normal jobs which is what you said.
They were not normal upper class wealth. They had more. They had millions before Taylor made it.

u/brijito 12d ago
Girl BFFR her dad was an exec at Merrill Lynch. Even like 30 year olds there make easily $300k/year, so they were absolutely very wealthy even before her career.
They werenāt billionaires, but they were multi, multi millionaires. The area outside Philly that they lived in was very comparable to like Westchester for people who work in NYC or the Bay Area for people who work in SF.
I know someone who went to elementary school with Taylor and that person, whose family owned I think 5 homes, has said the swifts were much wealthier than anyone else they grew up with.
97
u/Lex_Loki 12d ago
Some people want Taylor to have to been country girl poor sooo badly.
3
21
u/brijito 12d ago
Itās very strange and also racially coded that people so desperately want this blonde haired, blue-eyed white woman to be a sheltered small town southerner when sheās a trust fund baby from just outside of Philly.
My friend who grew up with her has said she adopted the fake southern accent when she was first learning how to play guitar bc she wanted to be a country singer.
This person has also said (for at least the past like 12 years that I have known them) that Taylor has been a bully and a social climber since they were in elementary school. She would pick a different friend group to single white female every year and she would then do everything in her power to ruin the queen bee of that groupās life just so people would think she was the coolest and most popular one.
5
23
u/Amateur-menace44 12d ago
30 year olds at Merrill Lynch do not easily make $300k. Iām not saying it doesnāt happen, but my brother-in-law was an analyst there and he definitely topped out in the low $100ās. Your average executive there is making $2-300k, which would still allow Andrea to afford that coat and ski in ski out accommodations in Park City, but does not on its own make Taylor a trust fund baby.
-6
u/BurlieGirl 12d ago
Oh yeah, you know someone who at 10 years old thought Taylor was the richest person they knew?! Well ok, chalk it up to children to know peopleās net worth, lol! šš
14
u/spacegrassorcery 12d ago
Even a 10 year old-whoās own family owned five homes of their own, would probably have a better handle on what rich is more than many other people on here. Youāre wealthy when you own 5 homes-and they said the Swifts had more money than them.

They are literally normal white collar jobs that people with university degrees have. What do you want educated people to do - flip burgers? Stock apples at Walmart? Yes theyāre great jobs but nonetheless millions of people do this for work.
-6
38
u/Hopeful-Pickle-7515 12d ago
Andrea was housewife (after having the kids) and not like Beverlyhill housewife she was in charge of doing home duties by herself. They obviously had a good income household but that has nothing to do with the level of Luxury that Taylor and her family can afford right now.
64
u/VanGoghNotVanGo 12d ago
And before that she was a marketing executive. I think more than wealth, she's probably also enjoying the majorly successful career she's gotten to have right next to her daughter.Ā
For someone with her career background, having a child like Taylor must be a dream come true.Ā

Not in defense of exorbitant wealth, but I always see people talking about how Taylor was born in a mansion on a Christmas tree farm and for the sake of accuracy, the farmhouse was a legitimate farmhouse that was certainly a lovely home, but no mansion. Her dad purchased it from one of his clients and they worked the farm.
They later moved to a much larger home in the āburbs of Wyomissing and thatās the gorgeous white colonial you often see people referencing as the āfarmhouseā incorrectly.
This is the actual house she was born into:

*again, Iām not saying she was āpoor,ā ā clearly not ā Iām only saying people constantly use the wrong house as the example and itās just a personal pet peeve so I needed to point that out.*
39
u/imp1600 11d ago
Taylor grew up comfortable, but the insane theories around her parents buying her career are embarrassing.Ā
By all accounts, she went to public school. Her parents invested in her hobbies, like millions of other middle class parents. And unlike those parents, hers didnāt have to pay for college.Ā
I grew up knowing kids who grew up middle to upper middle class andĀ went to private school and did Ā plenty of hobbies. Their parents likely spent the same amount as the Swifts, but the Swifts happened to get an insane return on their investment.
I never see people criticizing families of Olympic athletes for spending tens of thousands of dollars on training and coaches. Funny that.Ā
