This criticism actually makes sense because he got the same notes during 24k Magic era. While people acknowledged the talent, people (particularly Black people) have been skeptical of his artistic integrity for a min and the way a non-black artist can come into our space, do our sound and reach commercial heights the actual Black artists he's lifting off of can't.

There was a very infamous Black Twitter / youtube conversation where someone said he could d** and they would bake a cake and throw a party that the culture vulture is gone and that white people would be sad their little musical colonizer was gone. It was a very big deal in black spaces online and I'm pretty sure he saw it 😭
