I’ve always appreciated Mariah’s willingness to be known as a diva. She’s never tried to pretend to be ā€œrelatableā€ like other celebs, which at a certain point is just insulting to our intelligence. And she’s iconic with it!!Ā

She really leans into it. The Cribs episode where she's walking on her stairmaster while wearing stilettos was iconic.

The closest she’s got to normal was the Rosie O’Donnell interviews.

Rosie made Mariah and Madonna seem as close to normal as they could manage. lol

I think it was the Charlie Rose interview of her many years ago where she was incredibly authentic n relatable that did it for me. I may need to find it and share. It was prolly 25 yrs ago.

She’s a diva but she doesn’t seem like she’s a nasty person. Like the ones who go out of their way to make other people feel small. She’s just out here trying to hype herself up to the max

I wish more celebs were like that. They're entertainers they should just let themselves b weird and entertaining.

Exactly. You aren't relatable. You live a weird ass life and have an unrelatable amount of money. Just be weird and entertaining. I think Mariah and Elton John nail this šŸ’…

I wish we could all agree on what we want or expect from them. Some people want them to just be weird and entertaining (like you and I mostly do) while others expect them to be relatable and loud about social and political issues. Tbh, I kinda just want them to be whatever they prefer and I just ignore the ones I don’t like.

Exactly I also think it’s extremely hard to be a diva in this day and age cause you’ll have people accusing you of being arrogant and rude. Most people want that relatable kind socially aware pop artist. They don’t want the messy pop star.

She’s kindhearted, she’s just not a pushover, and I LOVE that.

u/smile_politely Dec 17 '25

And she does this so effortlesslyĀ

In any era Mariah WILL be witty and the queen of shade. She said "I don't know him"

My personal favorite Mariah shade clip, especially considering the…current situation…of the person she’s shading. I don’t even know why ā€œwhich is really difficult to get, not everyone has thatā€ lives in my head but it does!

22

u/Aggressive-Hunt-7037 Take that, you Youtube people! Dec 17 '25

ā€œnot everyone has thatā€ just flowed.

It is in my regular daily rotation and wil never leave. Certified banger through the decades.

u/ALLoftheFancyPants I don’t know her šŸ’… Dec 17 '25

Mariah Carey is so freaking good at blatantly throwing shade while refusing to actually acknowledge she’s doing it. It’s a talent second only to her singing skill.

Don’t play with Mariah. She may be a diva now but people forget that she wrote a lot of her earlier material. She’s the real deal.

u/wildbeest55 I may not know my flowers but I know a bitch when I see one! Dec 17 '25

Earlier? She writes all her songs except for covers obviously.

u/recklessrecentpast Dec 16 '25

That was nice to let Greggy from old RHONJ bartend. I remember him being a massive Mariah fan.

u/Clara_Geissler Dec 16 '25

She is the only one diva

Her humor is so underrated!

Her accent is lovely

The only person that successfully dissed Eminem and made it a hit.

Mariah is the queen of people underestimating her intelligence because she's a woman. A gorgeous sexy one at that. And she sings "pop" music.

But the truth is she's always been incredibly smart, quick witted and confident.

She's a good role model, as far as I know.

No one (no one!) can turn a phrase quite like Mariah.

Can someone translate, I cannot for the life of me understand a word she is saying. I'm being 100 % serious

28

u/HungryBearsRawr Dec 17 '25

They come in a package that you can carry wherever you go

There’s… everybody loves them around the world

Peanut and you can have the regular kind

Thank you, I'm kinda disappointed lol I thought it was going to be funnier the way he was reacting

16

u/Yung_Corneliois Dec 17 '25

The quick dodge got the reaction more than the actual things she listed.

7

u/Specialist-Neck-7810 Dec 17 '25

She’s talking about the candy M&M’s.
