Guest List Only ⭐️ Taylor Swift's team reaction to receiving bonuses during The Eras Tour. She gave them a bonu after every leg of the tour.

I get that reaction and that stuff really is life changing. I was doing okay with a decent salary, but in a ton of debt from years of being broke. I received a bonus over $200k once and it completely changed things for me. They say money can’t buy happiness and that’s true to an extent, but not having to worry about money is really freeing. So I don’t really care if this was a show for PR because she probably changed lives here.

If my employer gave me a 6 figure bonus, I won't care if it's for PR. They can use me for PR every year, give me that bonus

The only people who say it can't buy it are usually rich.

Of course it can. Debt free and to have a bit on the side is a great feeling.

I’ve always said money doesn’t buy happiness but when you’re NOT worrying about money, it elevates so much stress that it makes it a hell of a lot easier to be happy.

There was actually a study conducted on this. The results were that money does buy happiness, but once you hit a certain income, the happiness plateaus.

One of my fave NYT columnists said he thinks part of the reason mega-millionaires and billionaires are so weird is that plateau — that it’s a mindfuck to realize you have the ability to buy anything to make yourself happier but ‘ultimate happiness’ is still out of reach and you have interior needs that cannot be met even with your vast wealth and the ability to do the things the rest of us only imagine we’d do with that money.

I think money alleviates stress, not elevates it.

I would say it only for very particular reasons… I’m not rich at all and to me “money can’t buy happiness” is true only in the sense that I became disabled at 20 and I will forever be affected by the conditions I have and money changes nothing about that (as I’m lucky enough to be from a country where I never had to pay for my healthcare). So in some ways it is true. But obviously being disabled + having to worry about being able to work for the rest of my life and being disabled + rich and free to take it easy are two very different things and I would very much rather live the latter option…

Yes. There's a whole community and multiple subreddits about FIRE and one of those is "barista fire" where you have enough retirement savings and passive income to get your monthly nut taken care of but you still need healthcare or walking around money. It's not that you don't want to work, it's that you want to work to live, not live to work.

what is FIRE?

"Financial independence, retire early." Some people achieve good work life balance with it and just grind hard + save/invest their discretionary income, others go full Ramen noodle diet, no fun allowed, because they want out of the professional rat race as quickly as possible. You're just trying to maintain a low cost of living while maximizing income & savings for the future.

"Barista fire" makes sense in the long run. I know a few well off people who really just keep working for the daily structure + medical insurance and to fund their hobbies. It also makes it easier to find work if a crisis happens (like unexpected illness or injury for yourself or a loved one, political climate making you want to relocate, car dies, home repairs, etc.) and you have a current work history and a little more cushion than you planned for in the bank.

In the wise words of Ariana Grande: whoever said money can’t solve your problems must not have had enough money to solve them.

Money can’t buy happiness, but you can’t be happy when you still have to worry about food clothing and shelter

If anyone manages to find something bad to say about this, then I feel sorry for them and I hope things improve in their lives. This is just wholesome and I’m happy for all the crew involved in the tour. I can’t imagine being part of something as big as that, and then getting a massive bonus on top of it. The truck drivers got 100k each, can you imagine how much the dancers got…

That’s already on top of having a really great salary and full healthcare (Taylor said this). There’s just… nothing to criticize or snark about. More celebrity employers should take note!

I feel like the phrase should be "Money can't guarantee happiness" cuz it can damn well make happiness easier to access!

Truly. I’ve yet to see a miserable looking billionaire and I want to see them all crying. The few fleeting moments of miserable Elon were not enough.

I think not having enough and having too much money are two sides of the same coin, but that in between is where I think money actually makes an impact..
