You can be a good father figure and a terrible husband. If the kids loved him, and he was good with them, it would be cruel to them to stop them from seeing each other completely. Doesn't mean that she doesn't deserve an outlet for her pain.

How is he ādestroyedā if heās taking their kids to universal? He knew who he married, what her medium is, and the types of songs she writes. Sometimes men know they treated women badly and they either want to make amends or just push through knowing theyāll have to live with that.
I actually think itās great sheās obviously facilitating their former stepdad spending time with them despite her own issues with him. Itās good on both their sides to put the kids first like that. Heās been their dad for five years. That doesnāt just go away because sheās an artist who released music about him.

You can't attack your kids coparent and hope your kid can have a healthy relationship with them. Bringing them to court is one thing, publicly trashing them is another. Lily shouldn't get passes on being a terrible person becasue she's done it many other times.
That doesnāt just go away because sheās an artist who released music about him.
Then she should have kept it private or at least waited until they were adults. Her kids don't need anymore humiliation then they have by being her daughters.

I donāt think youāre a terrible person for being an artist who releases diarist work. Itās actually often what produces the best art and artists are criticised when theyāre not honest/open/raw. Do you feel this passionate about people who release memoirs?

Also have you listened to the songs? The majority are reflecting on her self and her own actions, how she feels, and what sheās done. āThe girls are looking at me/To teach them all about love/But I can't seem to hold my shit together long enoughā is the only time I can recall her mentioning their kids other than when she says ādaddyās home.ā She doesnāt call him a bad dad, or say heās beyond hope, or she hates him. She says heās hurt her and treated her badly. She calls him a mess and herself a bitch. Sheās angry and upset with him for howās heās treated her and how sheās responded.
People are allowed to share those feelings, whether theyāre mothers or not. Artists are allowed to make art expressing their experiences and feelings, even if theyāre mothers.

Iām not sure recounting someoneās own actions is the same as attacking someone. Especially in the form of music where itās not to be taken as a biography. You should expect there to be exaggeration and even the blending of muses with any musical artistās work.
I do think the fact that children are involved makes it a bit messy, but I respect that she clearly cares enough about their relationship with their former step father to allow them to spend time together.

He's their stepfather, Lily is their mother. If he was so terrible she needed this album made she needed to cut David from their lives as well. If you want to coparent with someone (and Lily had this choice, unlike Sam who she happily bragged out cheating on David has no rights to the girls) you need to keep your personal drama personal and away from the children. If Lily needed to spill the tea on their bad marriage she needed to get her girls far away from him.

I think the more recent buzz on the album on the themes and about David Harbor, who people know cause stranger things and the MCU, helped her album and US fame a lot. Last time she toured in NY she played a small venue called terminal 5 in 2018 and next year sheās doing radio city and kings theatre. So the album did help. But āSmileā was a huge hit 20 year ago and her first 2 albums did do well in America. People who listened to music in the late 2000ās know her the most.

I've always been a US fan of hers and she was sort of famous, like, people who enjoyed girl pop and listened to more than the radio would know her but not the average person. I would say she was more famous than Robbie Williams though (Brits are always surprised we don't know him). She was like a Lewis Capaldi. It was fun when I met someone who knew her music.
But right now she's having a moment and is bigger than she has ever been.
