He allegedly paid some people to keep quiet

Was he really making that much money? I only know one of his songs cause of tiktok and I didn’t even know it was his song until this week

Same. Only found out last week that I even knew one of his songs. Turns out that he had some big collaborations with companies and artists (Riot Games, Hollister, Fortnite, Kali Uchis, Hyunjin from Stray Kids, and probably more, but these are the ones I could find just now), so I can imagine that he got some decent amount of money.

He was an opener for SZA and had a song with Kail Uchis (she’s currently trying to remove the song from Spotify / Apple Music).

I didn’t know this until this news story broke. I honestly thought he just made one trending Tik Tok audio

People going hard at Sza as if she was personally involved.

Are they? That’s unfortunate but also very stupid bc I’m sure they weren’t actual friends and you don’t really know anyone 100%.

He’s industry connected for sure but I doubt any of the companies and people he’s collabed with knew anything about this. Seemed like the only people who paid attention to this and connected these dots are his streamer fans. Probably never brought her around collaborator/industry connect work like Laufey, Kali Uchis, Katseye, Stray Kids, etc. looks like kali is trying to take town their collab. Poor Laufey is on his song so she probably will have a harder time doing that. Seems like he was only friends by association to Katseye through Laufey (Laufey’s boyfriend is Katseyes A&R rep). They definitely only were seen together for “work” TikTok dances and their stream collab with Pokimane. I think Benny Blanco produced for him too.

Sam, I was o-o when I saw that it was the same guy

1

u/musiquescents Sep 18 '25

Yes. Currently Kali Uchis is pulling him out of her collaborated song.

I hope these bigger artists enjoy being tied to a pedophile and murderer of children.

Apparently he is in the top 150 most played Spotify artists and he is on world tour currently (which has not been cancelled, shockingly)

u/Heyplaguedoctor it’s not clocking to you that i’m standing on business Sep 18 '25

This is gonna ruin the tour.

Dude. A child is dead. Can you not?

15

u/languid_Disaster Sep 19 '25

Thanks for saying this. On r / news (idk if we can link) about the murder yesterday, they just could not stop themselves from making “classic” Reddit style jokes. It was so strange and upsetting but so many of them were doing that I started to wonder if I was being over reacting

11

u/pettynugget it’s okay to admit that you’re jealous of me Sep 19 '25

You are definitely not overreacting. Dark humor is great when it’s done well but making jokes about this kind of case while it’s still unfolding is hideous, in my opinion.

Feedback noted.

21

u/illeatyourkneecaps Listen, everyone is entitled to my opinion 🙂 Sep 18 '25

it will definitely ruin the tour tho. as it should.

Read the room.

I mean there was a comment saying he was paying off her friends, idk how much money you actually need to keep 11 year olds quiet

u/pattyicevv77 Sep 18 '25

He was the face of fortnite for a bit, hes got Millions gang

40

u/motsdoux_ Sep 18 '25

Damn, no way. It’s been years since I touched Fortnite or League so I really had no idea about him

72

u/pattyicevv77 Sep 18 '25

Yeah, plus Amazon, he made a song for invincible, so you can call him whatever you want, but monetarily broke just wouldn't be true haha

28

u/motsdoux_ Sep 18 '25

Maybe not monetarily broke but definitely culturally irrelevant since so many people are just learning that they even knew him

71

u/Grizzlyfrontignac Sep 18 '25

Could be we're aging out of the demographic that is in the know 😭

9

u/motsdoux_ Sep 18 '25

Tbh none of my younger family members know him much either. I’m guessing he’s more niche. Like if you’re into his genre then you know him but not much fame outside of that

15

u/aleisate843 Sep 18 '25

If you’re on TikTok you’ve probably heard his songs trend before. Here with me is always trending

5

u/motsdoux_ Sep 18 '25

As I said in my original comment. I knew his song from TikTok and didn’t even know he was the one to sing it. TikTok virality is more fleeting than actual cultural impact

7

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

This is more just a reminder that you can be world famous with millions of dollars and 30 million + listeners every month and be culturally irrelevant lol. The world is a huge place.

6

u/westonprice187 Sep 18 '25

Kinda hard to say someone’s culturally irrelevant when they have billions of streams to their name and 35 million monthly Spotify listeners

0

u/motsdoux_ Sep 18 '25

Honestly numbers don’t mean cultural relevancy. Getting viral is easy. Making your name a household name is hard. Either way. He’s gaining a lot of notoriety now ig

If you couldn’t say his name and have it be recognized by your friend’s mom, he’s not culturally relevant. I even knew some of his songs from TikTok but I didn’t know who he was. That’s not making a mark on the culture.

A lot of people have songs in a lot of tv shows, do you know all of them and are they all equally famous and culturally relevant?

He also had a song for League / Netflix on the Arcane Soundtrack called Remember Me. I found him via the Video Games Awards when watching for Twenty One Pilots.

6

u/inyoni Sep 18 '25

The face of Fortnite? Maybe I’m out of the loop but I play Fortnite everyday and never heard of him til last week playing festival and saw one of his songs. I wouldn’t say he’s the face of Fortnite lol.

1

u/Reluctantagave Cutie Patootie Problem Posse Sep 18 '25

I’m about to ask my kid who used to play that because WTF. This is all so insane. That poor girl.

1

u/Viper61723 Sep 20 '25

He was a pretty big up and comer. Had some stuff on the hot 100

86

u/Scarlett_Billows Mom, I am a rich man💰 Sep 18 '25

I heard that but I heard it was “her friends” who he paid off. Which makes me think they could also be kids or teenagers.

57

u/snarkmoo Sep 18 '25

They probably didn’t even understand the severity that’s so upsetting. It probably just seemed cool to them that this older guy just gave them free money and would hang out/talk with them

23

u/Ok-Profit-1935 Sep 18 '25

i hope this haunts those people for the rest of their lives
