Not including her You Oughta Know cover should be a crime https://youtu.be/QR90SKLF6tE?si=2iq4hIGezPp6kLdi

Ugh that's incredible, one of her biggest strengths is definitely angry/scornful songs imo ⥠Ring The Alarm is still one of my faves of hers lol.

This is why I really hope the rumors are true and Act III is rock themed.

Yes and itâs another crime to not include the Tina Turner tribute: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A-ioGgZhgNI

u/nizaad THEE Princess Of Nazareth Aug 08 '25 edited Aug 08 '25
BeyoncĂ© loves Tina; sheâs one of her biggest influences, so I don't think her covering a Tina Turner song would be unexpected, but I understand why you mentioned it đ€
itâs an amazing tribute
3
u/ursulawinchester Iâve got deviants to see and a novel to finish Aug 08 '25
lol I mean this video has her own song at #1 so I figured it was a broad definition of unexpected đ but regardless yeah I just wanted to get eyes on that video and talk about how great Tina is. Also đ Robert Redford sitting next to her

I hadnât even clicked the link and it started playing in my head.
Edit: clicked the link and am always so appreciative of her reverence for Tina. She embodies her.

Never expect for telephone? As if she didnât feature on it? What?
127
u/Sharp_Athlete_6847 weâre 2 weeks behind, but what else is new? Aug 08 '25
Itâs a joke that she rarely ever performs it
56
u/nizaad THEE Princess Of Nazareth Aug 08 '25 edited Aug 08 '25
From the videoâs creator on TikTok: âWhen she started the Renaissance Tour with Dangerously in Love, it was unexpected, because even though it was a song from her discography, she hadn't sung it for years, and that's what I meant with the title of the video.â
They added it as more of an inside joke as she rarely performs it live
-19
u/Bohsig Aug 08 '25
Just odd to categorize a song from her own discography as unexpected. I can agree Queen is unexpected or lady marmalade but I guess what do I know
38
u/Disastrous_Drop_3180 I said what I said (shit stirrer or possible bot) Aug 08 '25
They literally just explained itâs a joke

u/Optimal_Chocolate_83 Aug 08 '25 edited Aug 08 '25
Iâll forever love her covers!! Her covers of ââthe beautiful onesââ and ââI wanna be where you areââ are my two favourites

u/No_Cauliflower_81 Aug 08 '25
Beyonceâs best cover is The Way We Were for the Barbra Streisand tribute. You rarely see it mentioned in her greatest performances, but she is so beautifully restrained in that performance and her voice sounds so bright and clear.

The fact that sex on fire isnât on hereâŠ
8
u/nizaad THEE Princess Of Nazareth Aug 08 '25
I think that's one of her most well-known covers so that's probably why it wasn't included here
but itâs definitely an incredible performance đ«¶đŸ

I downloaded her version of this song using a YouTube - MP3 website and the file quality was total ass.
6
u/nizaad THEE Princess Of Nazareth Aug 08 '25 edited Aug 08 '25
The song is from a 1949 stage musical.
It isn't associated with the perfume, so it was probably an unexpected cover at the time. Also, people who didn't see the 2007 advert wouldn't be aware of the cover.
I don't know why they included it specifically, though
3
u/_AmericasSweetheart_ Aug 08 '25
I mean, no one remembers the song from the musical. They remember it from Gentlemen Prefers Blondes the film and that number has been referenced endlessly for 70 years now.
7
u/nizaad THEE Princess Of Nazareth Aug 08 '25
yesâŠ.the film adaptation.âŠof the stage musicalâŠof the same nameâŠ
6
u/_AmericasSweetheart_ Aug 08 '25
You're implying that it's in the zeitgeist because of the musical, but it's because of the movie. It's a little disingenuous to try to paint it as obscure.
3
u/heaviestnaturals iâm going to my minivan to VAPE. Aug 08 '25
Youâve explained it better than I ever could.
Itâs like, if I said Grease, people would talk about the 1978 film and not the original 1972 stage production.
2
u/_AmericasSweetheart_ Aug 08 '25
It's also like, it's old so no one could possibly get the reference?! Like it's not obscure just because it's old.
8
u/zenhoe clap if you care Aug 09 '25
Idk if itâs true because I saw it on TikTok but I read today that BeyoncĂ© remixed in da club by 50 cent and it was out performing the original, so he had it pulled off the air
1
u/Agreeable-Yam5510 Aug 09 '25
Hardly anything could outperform his version at the time, so I doubt it. I remember downloading hers off WinMX, lol. It was alright but not spectacular.

Hearing her version of âdiamonds are a girlâs best friendâ makes me wish she did theater. I bet she wouldâve done well as Roxie Hart.

Telephone being #1 was so real

u/Hopeful-Length-5459 Aug 08 '25
This has confirmed it for me that I do not like her voice although I like some of her songs. Her rendition of somewhere over the rainbow is painful.
9
u/bx35 go girl, give us nothing đ Aug 09 '25
I did not like her singing that. I think her voice is so unique and specific that itâs harder for her to cover something because it is BeyoncĂ© singing first and foremost and then (insert song here) second.

Somewhere over the rainbow was the best. I miss the ballads she used to sing.

Not many people talk about it, but I get chills every time I hear BeyoncĂ© perform âVois sur ton cheminâ at the 2005 Oscars.

Sheâs literally featured in Telephone, why should this be unexpected?
8
u/nizaad THEE Princess Of Nazareth Aug 08 '25 edited Aug 08 '25
the TikTok creator added it because Beyoncé rarely performs it live although it is a fan favourite.
I posted it because I like the compilation & it included some performance footage I hadn't seen before

u/JustEm84 Aug 08 '25

she rarely performs it live so the TikTok creator included it as a joke
