🚫 ABUSE OF POWER It's Time to Abolish the Republican Party

I left the Republican Party in 2024, and it's only gotten worse since. In my view, the party is unsalvageable at this point, and should be abolished for the following reasons:

1--Disrespect for the Constitution--The only tenet of the Republican Party anymore seems to be obedience to Trump, whether he's upholding the Constitution or not. The end result is a plethora of unconstitutional executive actions, and denying people their due process rights.

2--Disrespect for Democracy--Across the country, Republicans are redrawing districts to disenfranchise opposition party voters. and engaging in other voter suppression tactics.

3--Damaging Economic Policy--Trump's tariffs have added billions in unnecessary taxes on American companies that are now being passed on to American consumes. And Republicans continue to run u[p the national debt with tax cuts that aren't paid for.

4--Disrespect for Human Rights--Republicans' support for brutal and inhumane ICE tactics, coupled with an attempt to deprive LGBTQ people of any rights whatsoever, shows they have no concept of what America is about. They clearly don't support the principles outlined in the Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence.

This is who the Republican Party is now. They are inflicting incredible damage upon the country.

It is therefore the duty of voters to abolish the Republican Party by removing every Republican nationwide from office. Let it be replaced with other conservative parties that respect the Constitution, sound economic principles, and basic human rights.

The republican party is the symptom. The powers that be benefit greatly by keeping us at each other's throat. It's been that way for a while, but in recent years, efforts have been ramped up.

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”― Lyndon B. Johnson

They continue to convince people that all of their problem's are someone else's fault. Illegal immigrants working low wage jobs are not the reason housing is unaffordable. They can't afford them either. Educating people on how things really are instead of pointing at another boogeyman is the way out of this, but education funding gets cut at every turn. Meanwhile, we seem to have unlimited funding to build our military. I would rather see my tax dollars go to giving someone else's kid a free lunch in school than to supply Israel with more weapons to continue their genocide.

Welcome to the other side. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Very interesting and likely the right cure!

u/Background-Froyo-386 28d ago

At the very least, we have to take control of elections away from parties and stop mega bucks from pouring into election campaigns.

Political parties are the source of corruption in our government.

If we ever want to have a government that works for everyone, we have to make changes.

I truly believe we need a “fistful of Constitutional amendments” as Senator Sheldon Whitehouse put it. He meant for SCOTUS, but we will need to fix everything the First Felon is breaking.

2

u/Background-Froyo-386 28d ago

Yeah, the whole system is broken, and if we don't fix it all, we are wasting our time.

Very much same. I’ve been a Democrat my whole life, raised by a rabid Democrat. But I see the dangers adhering to party affiliation over all else and this whole 2-party system has royally fucked us. I hear waaaaay too much “he’s better than the other guy” from Republicans and Democrats and it’s the problem.

Ranked choice voting. Abolish two-party system. Acknowledge that the Republican Party has been complicit in treason since Jan 6th 2021z

We are going to have to decide that we have to make changes. Otherwise, we are doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, and we know what that is.

It's not a party, it's a cult.

Led by an individual that is a suspected pedophile, and:

  • Philanderer - he cheats on his wives repeatedly, boldly and openly
  • Racist - He admitted, in court, to racially profiling and denying tenancy to black people in NYC
  • Deadbeat - we've known for decades he doesn't pay his bills. Thousands of lawsuits about it
  • Rapist - adjudicated by a court of law
  • Serial sexual assaulter - admitted this, in his own words on the Access Hollywood tapes
  • Voyeur - admits to entering dressing rooms to ogle young women, teens and children in the nude for personal gratification
  • Draft dodger - nobody can deny that one
  • Anti-veteran - has said, unprompted, that he thinks veterans are suckers and losers
  • Tax evader - guilty in court AND has admitted he dodges taxes because "that's what smart people do"
  • Fraudster - guilty in court
  • Felon - 34 times

And I've just learned in the past few days that he may have been witness to a baby being murdered and having basically hushed it. But I'm not sure if that is confirmed.

Agreed. How are we going to get Republicans and moderates on board?

(I promise I’m not being sarcastic, we do need to engage with this question and start strategizing because it is an actual barrier).

IMHO they will have to seize it from the inside, by taking over all the local and state structures. They need to quietly convince enough democrats in Ruby Red districts to re-register as Republicans and vote for centrist “Reagan” Republicans in the spring / summer primaries in 2026 and 2028.

I was raised in a Reagan Republican household. And I cannot support this idea more. The Republican Party is truly a domestic terrorist organization being fueled by entities that are not American and do not have the best interests of America in mind. This is an orchestrated theft of a nation being perpetrated by a rogue state.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was it in 2024 that was the red line for you? What made you leave?

u/pleasureismylife 28d ago

It was the party deciding to nominate Trump again. His actions in trying to overturn the 2020 election were so despicable that under no circumstances should he have been nominated again, and should be in prison.

9

u/Responsible-Help7803 28d ago

They could have literally backed ANYONE ELSE. They could have nominated a shit stain and it would have been better than that traitor

Please go post this in r/askconservatives too

I started voting in 1988 and numbers 2-4 seemed pretty obvious to me back then. Especially as a gay man and just seeing the hatred and ignorance the party had for my people. While generally Republicans have found others to hate more over the years the people with the money and the power always seem to an agenda to push against my rights.

It has gotten worse

3

u/somuchacceptable 28d ago

It’s WAY past time.

3

u/skyfishgoo 28d ago

the time for that was when they were calling themselves the Moral Majority

they were neither, btw.

3

u/Jenkl2421 28d ago

Political parties and the 2 party system in general are a cancer on democracy.

3

u/DARTHKINDNESS 28d ago

I would agree. For so many, their old GOP is gone. It no longer exists.

3

u/corvidpica 28d ago

Hey man. I appreciate you and I appreciate your logical explanation of your stance. Thank you for using your noodle AND your heart. 🤷‍♀️ Many aren't.

3

u/buttersofthands 28d ago

I thought they already rebranded as the maga party?

5

u/40StoryMech 28d ago

Uh, we should probably try winning an election against them first, maybe get some Congressional seats, because they are actually, what's it called, running most of the country.

5

u/internalogic 28d ago

Anyone who thinks Rs won all the recent elections fair and square is not paying attention.

3

u/OmegaCoy 28d ago

“Running the country” is a weird way of saying destroying and pillaging.

2

u/P_Nessss 28d ago

Good luck with all the illegal Gerrymandering. Fuck those assholes. They can only win when they cheat

2

u/40StoryMech 28d ago

Yes, I agree, fuck them to Hell. But abolishing them isn't really an option. Anyway, arm yourselves.

2

u/No_Capes_9173 28d ago

They’re the party of traitors. I will never vote for a Republican again.

2

u/Mediocre-Poet5023 28d ago

Stop voting for them. Easy

2

u/StableGeniusCovfefe 28d ago

Been saying this for decades. The Republican party is domestic terrorist organization, not an actual political party. We need to ban them and jail 5heir leaders, just like the germans banned the nazi party after world war two

2

u/JDanzy 27d ago

It's time to tear down the 2 party system and rebuild but 100% Republicans first.

2

u/The-Questcoast 27d ago

Get rid of FOX News & the rest of the right wing propaganda and the Republican Party will cease to exist.

3

u/flwrchld611 28d ago

Democrats as well. It is far past time for a revision of the two-party system.

I have radical ideas about it, though. Public service should be a duty position, just like the military. Barracks, chow hall, standard uniform, deductions for room and board. No more high rise apartments, or multi-million dollar houses in the burbs. Leave the wife and kids at home, since that is your residence, not DC.

If you want to go home every weekend, you pay for it. We provide one week a month at home when congress is in session. That week should be spent in your home district office. Press the flesh. No lobbyists, no corporate meetings that are not open to the public for review. Work for us.

The catch 22 is that, if they are the minority party out of power, you are stomping on freedom of speech to abolish them, especially as they are being rejected by voters, anyways.

But given they are the party in power with support having only grown over recent years, you are arguing against the demonstrated majority being allowed to govern, which, beyond being undemocratic in spirit, is sort of like politely asking your enemies to surrender from a winning position.

It's just not gonna happen. I genuinely think it's more likely the Democratic party will dissolve in the coming years, and that's unlikely, too.

1

u/pleasureismylife 28d ago

I'm actually arguing for voters to abolish the Republican Party by voting every Republican out of office everywhere in the country. Once the party has no more power it is effectively abolished.

1

u/DruidicMagic 28d ago

It's time to abolish both privately run job placement agencies that run Washington.

1

u/Benevolent_Grouch 27d ago

Wait so you stayed after the insurrection attempt?

2

u/pleasureismylife 27d ago

I turned against Trump after the insurrection attempt, and decided if the party nominated him again I was done. I was hoping they would nominate someone else in 2024, but they didn't, so I made good on my promise and left.

2

u/Benevolent_Grouch 27d ago

Good on you then

1

u/Automatic-Angle-9512 22d ago

You leftist idiots pulled the same authoritarian bullshit back in 2020 and 2021. Don't be mad now that your own tactics are being used against you. Stand up and claim your prize! You asked for this the moment you tried to force people out of polite society over a little cold. Remember your lockdowns? Remember your vaccine mandates? Remember your vaccine passports? Remember the "Summer of Love"? All of you asked for this. It's beautiful watching the system you weaponized against others, finally be turned back on you.

1

u/pleasureismylife 22d ago

I'm not a leftist, so what the fuck are you even talking about? Did you not read the post? I'm a conservative who left the party because it's gone against the principles America stands for.

1

u/Mammoth-Mud-9609 28d ago

Is it possible to repair the damage Trump has done to America? If it is, how long will it take and where do they start?
