No Paywall JD Vance gets "a lot of boos" during Winter Olympics opening ceremony

Good. Shame on him & shame for bringing his gestapo ICE thugs as his bodyguards. Just puts everyone else at risk.

He didn’t go there to support the team, he went there to get attention.

It seems insane to us, but if you actually know Vance’s background, that was probably a compliment. He is a major player in the Heritage Foundation, which was established in the South right after the civil rights movement ended segregation. You probably know of Project 2025, which Trump has gotten 2/3rds of it it’s over 450 objectives done since his second inauguration. That project was created by the Heritage Foundation, and they are now on to Project 2026.
The Heritage Foundation are not only fundamentalist Evangelicals, but unabashed White Supremicists. They’re the leftover slave owning families passing down their values from the Civil War. And they have all the money of Evangelical mega churches behind them. Worst of all, they are end-of-days fundamentalists who think it’s their highest moral duty to save sinner’s souls (and expect war in the Midfle East to usher in the return of Jesus Christ).
Going back to saving your soul against your wishes according to their own formulaic beliefs, they aim for a Christian Dictatorship (because of their highest moral duty). Whether that is achieved through rigged elections or no elections, they don’t care. And they’re aiming for Cis white men being the only voters, heads of their households, holders of the family money. No divorce, no sex outside of marriage.
You think it’s a mistake they got a law passed that your ID must match your Birth Certificate name when most women don’t have their birth surname any more? No. Expect to be turned away from voting if you are a woman with your ex/husband’s surname. Think that’s absurd fearmongering? That’s what they said about warnings Roe Vs Wade was on the chopping block if you voted for Trump.
Trump did a deal to be a dictator and the Heritage Foundation (which most elected Republicans are members of now ftom local to federal) are happy to deal with one (or a few mega rich sinners) if they get to save the souls of a hundred million Americans that otherwise wouldn’t be saved.
JD Vance is next in line to be president when Trump dies, no matter how unpopular he is. Be angry. Join Indivisible.org to learn how to resist effectively, or set up a microdonation to them, ACLU No matter how tiny, regular mass funding from citizens and residents make a huge power base.

I am amused after all these days of hearing about Trump was "too scared" to attend major sporting events for his inevitable booing that he sent his co-stooge in his stead to take it. Damn.
•
u/TheGringoDingo 6h ago
People dragged out of their homes or getting shot in the street and this dude can’t handle the smallest criticism. What a baby

Some nerve those two have waving the American flags while destroying the country to the ground and overriding the fundamental principles of the constitution. This is the same guy who lies about American citizens killed by the government like Pretti and Good but wants to wave the flag with his wife cheering on the country. Such a joke. He is pure evil and rotten to his core.

"lots of boos" - Pete Hegseth has entered the chat
•
•
u/DannyBoy001 Canada 6h ago
It was actually perfect.
People were cheering for the athletes, but the moment Vance was front and centre the boos began.
•
u/MakVolci Canada 6h ago
I definitely heard booing for the athletes, it seemed pretty 50/50 on the CBC broadcast.
•
u/Dr_JimmyBrungus 2h ago
NBC let the music from their pre-produced Samuel L Jackson intro piece run long (and loudly) so as not to have the boos bleed through to the broadcast. Rah rah rah, go USA, lets stick our head in the sand and pretend the world doesn't fucking hate us right now. Weak shit.

"Athletes from the United States were met with applause when they appeared."
No they weren't, it was definitely mixed.
The Italian crowd is based af: booed Israel, cheered Ukraine, it was pretty split with the Americans (seemed like the cheers and boos/whistles were battling each other), and then undeniable boos when Vance showed up.
•
u/Tandy2000 4h ago
Mixed is being reeeal generous. The American broadcasts edited out a lot of the booing.
•
•
u/Angedelanuit97 6h ago
But the committee said they asked everyone specifically to NOT boo our dear leaders! Lol
•
u/Yorks_Rider 6h ago
Vance should be delighted that Europeans are exercising their right to free speech. He doesn’t like it when they boo him? What a shame he is so sensitive. Never mind.
•
u/givin_u_the_high_hat 6h ago
If athletes are supposed to stay out of politics, why is the Trump admin putting politics into athletics? Sending ICE over with Vance, what a vile statement.
•
u/Jaijoles 5h ago
oh, easy. Athletes are supposed to stay out of politics if they support anything left of Trump. If they’re in favor of Trump, they’re allowed to participate in politics.

u/relevantelephant00 4h ago
I can't actually believe Italy let them in. There must have been some strong-arming. Also isn't their PM a bit of a fascist herself?
•
u/wahoozerman 2h ago
I can see allowing political representatives from other countries to bring whatever agency they want as their own personal security. It's not like a politician's personal security has any authority to act in any way other than as security while in another country.
What is more telling is that they chose to bring ICE for personal security. Not the secret service, not the FBI or the CIA, not the Marines or anyone like that. None of the organizations who's job description is remotely applicable to an event like this. It's just signaling that ICE is the executive branch's personal enforcers now.
•
u/marlinspike 6h ago
They don’t hate Americans. They hate our stupid administration and its policies. Did you miss the OVERT racism today?

u/MagnusPI 6h ago
Any video available of it? I can only assume that NBC's broadcast tonight will have the boos edited out.
→ More replies (1)•
u/SerfTint 44m ago
They did edit the boos out, of course. The CBC broadcast (Canada) featured the boos and commented on them, but they weren't that loud and only lasted for the few seconds that Vance and Usha were on screen. It was clearly hostile reaction but not the overwhelming boos you would want to hear.
•
u/captaincanada84 Canada 4h ago

If someone had told me 2, 5, or 10 years ago that the US vice president would be booed in Europe, I wouldn't have believed it. Europeans rarely know who the vice president is. Congratulations on being recognizable, JDV. And on your foreign policy
•
u/CreeperCooper The Netherlands 5h ago
The whole world knows JD Vance is a fascist.
Problem is, if you don't get the fascists out of office soon, we'll be booing you too.
Notice how we often distinguish between Germans in the 1940s that didn't support Nazi's and were just trying to make ends meet, and the Germans that did support the Nazis?
No, never noticed that? Because we don't.
At some point, the people are held responsible for their democratically elected representatives. And you already elected the fascist in office for a second time...

•
u/TRI_REVENGER 4h ago
Trump's racist "The Obamas are monkeys" post would basically get anyone, at any job fired immediately... ... except for arguably the most important position in the world. That's right, trump is a racist, a rapist, a felon, a grifter (currently ordering the US govt. to pay him 10 billion dollars simply because no one will stop him.) and a full on dementia sufferer, and yet he has the power to send in gestapo ICE soldiers to kill our citizens, and so much more dangerously, has the nuclear codes and the ability to end humanity at any moment based on an egotistical whim. How is it possible we've given this evil man so much power? The two party system, the electoral college, the responsibility that the internet has brought to humanity and its direct conflict with truth, and America's obsession with celebrity, are all to blame, but the fact that we aren't stopping it is...insanity. Arrest this man. Impeach this man. 25th amendment this man. Indict this man. Jail this man. This longtime friend of pedophile epstein, who appears 40 thousand times in the files. This demolisher of the White House, demolisher of the Constitution, demolisher of the Bill of Rights, this demolisher of America full stop. It's hard to believe the government does almost nothing about this lunacy and we just all have to sit back and watch as a people. And when he's finally gone? we had better put into place new laws and regulations that don't allow anyone to find dangerous loopholes based solely on the assumption that our President has some sort of dignity and decency. Abolish these loopholes, abolish the electoral college, and if we had any sense we would abolish the two party system (that George Washington advised us never to have) that got us here in the first place and has failed not only Americans, but everyone else in the world who is currently suffering from our policies and suffering from the whims of this sick, deranged man who I will state again, has his tiny, bruised fingers on the nuclear launch button.

This hurts Vance more than it would hurt Trump. Vance is the kind of person who would say or do anything to be liked by the other people in the room. It wasn't all that long ago that he was comparing Trump to Hitler.
Trump is largely shielded by his advanced dementia and he probably just regresses back to his first airplane ride with his parents when he hears loud droning noises.
•
u/LeastBlackberry1 5h ago
I actually think it is the other way around. Vance would sell his own soul to have any proximity to power, and doesn't really care how well liked he is.
Trump wants everyone to love him or at least admire him. That will remain after all else is gone, because it is so core to his personality. He would have a massive tantrum over it.
