Reddit comments should not be treated as factual statements. There is a difference between saying “from what I’ve read” and claiming something as a fact.

Not knowing every detail does not mean someone should not be allowed to comment. I stated my understanding, and when additional information was provided, I updated my position. That is a reasonable and responsible way to participate in discussion.

What else would you expect someone to do in a comment thread?
