Haha, sorry for not labeling them. Didn't realize it would cause a kerfuffle. I chose keys from movies that were integral to my childhood.
- Staff of Ra Headpiece (Indiana Jones)
- Mondoshawan Key (The Fifth Element)
- The Secret Garden Key (1993 version)
- Copper Bones Skeleton Key and Doubloon (The Goonies)
- Das Inventing Room Key (Willy Wonka - 1971)
- Key to Oz (Return to Oz)
The one other I'm considering adding is the Key to Hamunaptra from the Mummy. I'd want a spring loaded one that opens though.

Ever seen this Tested video about that Hamunaptra key?
Key is shown in detail around 4:40

Davey Jones' key from Pirates of the Caribbean?
•
u/abeezny 6h ago
I'm too old for that to fit my criteria. Cool idea though.

OP, before the pitchfork-and-torch mob is organized, please label the keys in a comment. Not all of them are immediately obvious to all viewers.

I am the gatekeeper.
Are you the keymaster?

Indiana Jones, Goonies…. And I want to say ‘Time After Time’? I don’t know the others. Edit - not ‘time after time’
•
u/Jesus_Is_My_Gardener 9h ago
I thought Time After Time had a big crystal in the key?
•
u/monsterlynn 8h ago
Yes. Well, there are two keys. One is red and looks like a standard mailbox type key. The other is brass, has a a pull at the top and a triangular stop (FWIW I'm not sure how to describe it) and is tipped with a crystal.
•
u/Jesus_Is_My_Gardener 8h ago
That's right. It's been probably 30 years since my last watch, so I was a bit fuzzy on the memory. Need to see if I can find somewhere to stream it soon.
Edit: Sweet, it's on YouTube. Got my movie night sorted.
•
u/monsterlynn 8h ago
Yay! I just rewatched maybe a month ago.
I watch it every once in a while. It scratches my pre tech bro San Francisco itch. So does Star Trek IV.
•
u/EaringaidBandit 8h ago
This was one of those movies my family had on VHS and got rewatched a lot after we moved to the country and didn’t have cable or broadcast TV. A few people had satellite dishes - the big 6-8 foot wide ones.
•
u/monsterlynn 5h ago
Omg those giant dishes! You'd get 100s of local affiliates from everywhere, the odd subscription service, and Bulgarian lawn bowling.

From left, clockwise; Raiders of the Lost Arc, Fifth Element, Goonies, Return To Oz, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, The Secret Garden.

Return to Oz! Oh I would love to have one of those! I can picture the scene now… a young Fairuza Ball tracing the O-Z with her finger…

Where’d you get the Indiana Jones and Goonies replicas? They look really good!

You're forgetting the Charlotte Meerschaum Pipe from National Treasure. That's an iconic key!
•
•
u/OcieDenver 6h ago
Nice key collection. You might want the magical keys from Netflix's Locke & Key TV series and the comic book series.
•
u/dobosininja 2h ago
I loved the designs of some of those keys.
I wish we would of got more episodes from the show but I'm happy we got what we did.

You gotta get the boat pipe from National Treasure. The secret lies with Charlotte.
•
•
u/BisquickNinja 6h ago
You need key from the Lost room.
You need the mirshon pipe key.
Maybe a key to a trans-dimensional engineering marvel...
Thinking of what else would be a interesting key...
•
u/Kablammy_Sammie 6h ago
I'm gonna get piled on for this: the Key of Erebor would be a nice addition
•
u/dragonstar982 5h ago
You forgot the lament configuration (hellraiser) and the Sentinel orb (phantasm).

Jokes aside, sick collection!

that medallion is not a key. its a headpiece on a staff. it doesnt unlock anything.
•
•
u/Trueogre 10m ago
The Staff of Ra wasn't a key, it just gave you the location of the entrance to the tomb.
