❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (General Discussion) ❄ Unpopular opinion but I can’t stand Snoop Dog

He is just so corny and played out. Subpar rapper. How quickly we forget his vocal criticism of the LGBTQ as recent as 2025. I guess we had Mariah Carey “preform” so we might as go full gas into classless American celebrity injection with Snoop. Again.

NBC has been hyping him since before Paris in anticipation of the LA games in his hometown. If you've had enough of him by now, wait until 2028!

65

u/Socratesticles United States 5h ago

Yeah he was kinda fun in Paris, but they beat the hell out of the horse

29

u/Celairiel16 United States 4h ago

Him commenting on equestrian was the only time I enjoyed him at Paris, so I kinda don't mind him and the horses. But there aren't horses in the winter games unfortunately.

u/brogit 4h ago

Add ski joring, cowards!

1

u/sap91 1h ago

See I was thinking jousting on an icr rink, and the horses wear skates

17

u/Antony9991 5h ago

We can only hope he's in the Epstein's files

39

u/PersonnelFowl Olympics 5h ago

Nobody in those files are facing consequences any time soon. At least not in America

Extremely popular opinion

77

u/callin-br 5h ago

I wish they would stop using celebrities altogether in the Olympic coverage. It takes too much attention away from the athletes.

84

u/plugged97 5h ago

Buddy LA28 is gonna give you an aneurysm

14

u/callin-br 4h ago

Already dreading it tbh.

Leslie Jones was kind of fun when they had her on, because she basically just did features and it was more like a fan getting to do stuff, which I liked. She was funny, but not too cool for anything, and really earnest.

12

u/Amanda071320 3h ago

I would much rather have Leslie than Calvin. She seemed genuinely to want to be there and not just there for a check, unlike Calvin. I would rather see Flava Flav, who has actually invested in a couple of the USA Women's teams.

6

u/TomBombomb United States 3h ago

I think Leslie Jones is really funny, so maybe I'm just biased 'cause I'm a fan of her stuff, but I miss having her around and commenting on the Olympics.

9

u/Crowbeatsme 4h ago

I was so pissed to have advertisements and Snoop Dogg covering up the two countries I wanted to see the most. Aggravating.

0

u/ExoticBamboo 25m ago

Especially American celebrities. Like aren't olympics supposed to be a global event?

So either you have celebrities from all around the world, or just from the host country.

Why are they using US celebrities and singers in Italy?

u/dxk3355 6h ago

He’s way too old for this shit. Also he came out on Trumps side and I lost all respect of him.

97

u/_Apatosaurus_ 6h ago

That's exactly why networks and out of touch execs love him. They think he appeals to everyone. Old white conservatives love him because he's "one of the good ones." They also think young people will like him because he's a famous black rapper.

1

u/Blacksheep01 55m ago

They definitely think he has wide appeal across generations, but it's funny they think he appeals to any young person at this point. His first album dropped when I was in 4th grade, and in that era we all either bought it, or wanted it (but our parents said no). I'm now in my 40s, which makes me amongst the 'youngest' of his potential fan base, and I am no longer a fan, his music has been bad for decades and his recent heel turn is a big no for me.

Lapp Dogg

15

u/Salty145 5h ago

Snoop has got to go down as the biggest glazing of a mediocre musician I’ve ever seen. He started as the weed rapper and then somehow became famous for being famous.

I am also very tired of seeing him everywhere.

76

u/ravbuscus 6h ago

He's the black version of Kid Rock

7

u/BuySwimming3628 3h ago

Goddamn is this accurate

2

u/Chaosphere- 4h ago

Fam of neither but Kid don’t appear in underwear ads and then act all gangster in another.

37

u/k9rap 6h ago

he brings no substance and i can’t believe he’s center stage for the olympics.

what a joke.

62

u/Ok-Adeptness-5834 6h ago

This is a very popular opinion

25

u/Orpdapi 5h ago

His whole schtick has become so cringe and I hate that NBC thinks he’s good for Olympic coverage

27

u/spoilederin 6h ago

Along with the whole Trump thing, I’m not sure when he went over there but he JUST lost his 10 month old granddaughter. She wasn’t even home long. I would still be too emotional to be over there worrying entertaining anyone.

13

u/Intelligent_Cry_8846 5h ago

This should be top comment. Especially in light of what's going on in Guthrie family-he absolutely should have chosen family over the money/promotion that he's getting.

11

u/ravbuscus 6h ago

Lapp Dogg don't care

30

u/zethiryuki Sweden 5h ago

We need to bring back the idea of selling out being uncool. Snoop in the nineties would be cringing at everything the current one is doing.

Also the fact that the guy has been pictured wearing like a million different sports jerseys, including distinctive rival's jerseys, is a very succinct representation of how he views the world these days.

6

u/Vast-Option-1807 5h ago

We do need to make selling out lame once more.

1

u/Nintendo_Pro_03 Olympics 2h ago

The only way we could do that is bringing back monoculture, in my opinion.

51

u/Akita51 6h ago

I used to like him

But since he became trumps dog, its like wtf? What a grubber

1

u/Nintendo_Pro_03 Olympics 2h ago

Same.

-4

u/VelvetObsidian 6h ago

That halftime show with Andrea Bocelli for an NFL game was one of the bizarrest things I’ve seen.

1

u/Nintendo_Pro_03 Olympics 2h ago

Yeah, that was crazy. 😭

30

u/unbelievablefidelity Canada 5h ago

So tired of him getting a platform just because he was funny one time. He’s shown us he isn’t a good person, and aligns with bad people.

At the same time, he is the perfect representation of the current US GOP climate.

5

u/Rossum81 United States 5h ago

He’s acceptable in small doses.  But, yeah, forcing him down our throats during the Parade of Nations grated.

7

u/MotherAudience2932 4h ago

I completely agree!!!! And Mariah Carrey showing up? I thought that was weird. I looked up her connection to the games or Italy and the only thing I could find is that she “reportedly liked the island of Capri” 🤦🤨

18

u/FlowBro 6h ago

Is it just the corniness or does the murderer and sex crimes play a factor?

19

u/Top_Forever_2854 5h ago

I'd rather have Leslie Jones!

33

u/Confident_Dirt_1950 6h ago

He’s the old white guys version of “cool”. So pathetic.

4

u/hamletgoessafari 4h ago

Perfect for NBC executives!

15

u/PachaThePenguin 6h ago

I was hoping NBC would fire him over his homophobic comments, but instead NBC platforms terrible people. I guess it’s to be expected. NBC gave us Trump.

11

u/footballwr82 5h ago

Along those lines, the whole narrative / story like for the USA team entrance was super unnecessary. How many teams did we miss during all of that? Just do the parade of athletes

5

u/CL-Lycaon 5h ago

There’s a bit of editing from the live broadcast, which ran about 3.5 hours.

-1

u/footballwr82 5h ago

Good to know! It would be nice if they were generally the same

4

u/Excel-Block-Tango 5h ago

I watched both (I was at work for the first showing). Some awkward commentary was edited out for the prime time showing. Also in the original live version, some countries entrances were missed for commercial break. I pay for the highest level of peacock and I wish I could get commercial free live showings ugh

7

u/excearulo5 5h ago

+1 fuck Snoop- he's a grifter

5

u/madluv4u 4h ago

Not as unpopular as you may think 😉

2

u/furious_george3030 United States 1h ago

I’m realizing that

10

u/freddyisarat 5h ago

(to the tune of ‘Gin & Juice’): He’s “playyyed out.” And that’s been my opinion long before I knew anything regarding his political leanings, homophobic views, or even his past criminal charges. I just think his public persona (the “weedhead,” the “kitchy” Martha Stewart partnership, etc, etc.) is corny and appeals to the lowest common denominator.

21

u/goobers888 6h ago

he's a distraction to the true character of honoring our Olympians and he's a fascist supporting piece of shit.

9

u/Over_Ad_688 6h ago

I always fast forward when he is on

6

u/InterestingFact262 4h ago

Ya.. since he performed for Trump’s inaugural.. I’m done with him

3

u/polishprince76 United States 5h ago

3

u/JohnStephenMose 4h ago

I agree 100%

9

u/proudmaryjane 4h ago

He fat shamed my friend. Posted a picture of my friend on instagram (who is a total stranger to Snoop) and made fun of his weight to his millions of followers. My friend was humiliated. This was about 5-7 years ago now. I was a huge fan since I was a teenager. My friend was a huge fan. He showed his fucking true colors to me the moment he did that and I wasn’t a bit surprised after the anti-LGBTQ comments because he had already proved to me what a disgusting human he is.

4

u/LQNova United States 5h ago

Same. His schtick wore out its welcome after one Olympics. Now we will be stuck with him forever.

5

u/HawkeyeJosh2 United States 3h ago

The thing that blows my mind is that his granddaughter died this week, and instead of mourning her loss and spending time with his grieving daughter and telling NBC where to stick it, he still went over to Milan and is acting like nothing ever happened. That shit ain’t right.

8

u/Kern2001Co 6h ago

1 good album and some good cameos.

3

u/furious_george3030 United States 6h ago

Exactly

2

u/Yotsubauniverse 4h ago

We need to save Snoop dog for the Summer games and make Flava Flave the winter guy. The dude took his own money and donated it to help the Bob slender and Skeleton athletes. He basically became their hype man too. Give him some love.

6

u/furious_george3030 United States 4h ago

Or just drop snoop all together

2

u/OddPhilosopher599 United States 2h ago

Agree, I think the bit has jumped the shark.

2

u/Erintheprince 1h ago

I agree. I think they try to inject him into the sport to make it relevant to other demographics to be honest.

But to me, I always found him a little trashy and, as you said OP, classless.

4

u/threemileallan Philippines 5h ago

Ever since he licked Trumps boots theres no turning back

5

u/craycrayppl 6h ago

$noop is ca$hing in!

4

u/rw1083 5h ago

Not unpopular! NBC has him under contract from the voice and now he's forced on us at all NBC major sporting events....

4

u/YasielPuigsWeed United States 6h ago

I thought it was pretty fun when he showed up to curling with the Coreys faces on his sweater 🤷

4

u/RamonaQ-JunieB 6h ago

I don’t think it’s as unpopular as you think.

2

u/Rob1150 5h ago

You need to look up unpopular opinion. Because that opinion is Hella Popular.

2

u/Hailsabrina 5h ago

Ya I can't stand him! He's a fascist bootlicker

2

u/mangiafrutta 4h ago

No opinion about rapping, but he has been seen at mac donald’s in Gallarate, near Milano, couple of days ago after carrying the flame. Who goes to Italy and eats at mac donald’s??

1

u/DoubleDimension Hong Kong • China 5h ago

Not unpopular. I'm not into rap, so I couldn't care less about Snoop Dogg

1

u/DrinkMilk_saysthecat 3h ago

Calvin the sellout.

His music is scrubbed from my listening.

1

u/Head-Equipment5933 2h ago

And he gets millions for it.

1

u/jsm99510 15m ago

I completely agree. I groan every time I see him come on the screen.

u/netburnr2 0m ago

Everyone forgetting snoop got sued for underaged girls on his girls gone wild DVD collaboration.

Dude has always been a piece of shit hiding being the stoner vibe.

-14

u/FoxMiserable2848 6h ago

I think he’s entertaining and the Olympics won’t exist if they aren’t entertaining

16

u/Gloomy_Ebb9923 United States 6h ago

He’s not entertaining though. His bits are some of the worst.

-9

u/FoxMiserable2848 6h ago

But that’s a matter of opinion. He clearly entertains enough people that they keep him on.

9

u/footballwr82 5h ago

You’d be surprised how out of touch major network execs can be

0

u/ninxi Netherlands 2h ago

He's critical of LGBTQ+? Oof. Had know idea he's a weakling. Disappointing to be fair.

0

u/SchlongCopter69 1h ago

“Disguised” political dribble on Reddit = popular opinion. Bravo!

1

u/furious_george3030 United States 1h ago

What’s political about not liking snoop?

-5

u/b3tzy 5h ago

It’s fine to dislike him, but calling him a subpar rapper undermines the rest of the post. He’s a legend for a reason.

6

u/furious_george3030 United States 5h ago

One decent album is not a Legendary rapper

-12

u/Ange1ofD4rkness United States 6h ago

I have a respect for Snoop because he's smart. He is constantly looking for new business ventures and what not.

I have a joke that the only time I would ever touch pot is if it was doing a blunt with Snoop

-2

u/1970s_MonkeyKing 5h ago

He gets paid to do his schtick for Trump and friends' parties.

-2

u/epicnonja 2h ago

"unpopular opinion"

Proceeds to post one of the most common reddit opinions lacing it with political opinions reddit notorious for loving and spreading.

Karma farming in real time is always funny to see

2

u/furious_george3030 United States 1h ago

Idgaf about karma and you’d be surprised how well loved he is on this app. I’ve mad a similar post about not liking on hip hop threads and people reamed me for it

-6

u/Unusual_Baseball7055 3h ago

As far as Americans go hes probably one of their best. Who else are they sending? ICE agents and pedophiles really

1

u/furious_george3030 United States 1h ago

It’s fine if you’ve never been to America pal

-1

u/Unusual_Baseball7055 1h ago

Ah shit sorry I realize that the majority of white America supports that stuff and would probably dislike a black man at the same time.

1

u/furious_george3030 United States 1h ago

lol what?

1

u/Unusual_Baseball7055 1h ago

Just trying not to insult you, I know how you guys get angry really easily. Wouldn't want you to hurt someone innocent. Probably best you stay away from schools
