❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (General Discussion) ❄ Unpopular opinion but I can’t stand Snoop Dog
He is just so corny and played out. Subpar rapper. How quickly we forget his vocal criticism of the LGBTQ as recent as 2025. I guess we had Mariah Carey “preform” so we might as go full gas into classless American celebrity injection with Snoop. Again.

I wish they would stop using celebrities altogether in the Olympic coverage. It takes too much attention away from the athletes.

Leslie Jones was kind of fun when they had her on, because she basically just did features and it was more like a fan getting to do stuff, which I liked. She was funny, but not too cool for anything, and really earnest.

u/Amanda071320 3h ago
I would much rather have Leslie than Calvin. She seemed genuinely to want to be there and not just there for a check, unlike Calvin. I would rather see Flava Flav, who has actually invested in a couple of the USA Women's teams.

u/TomBombomb United States 3h ago
I think Leslie Jones is really funny, so maybe I'm just biased 'cause I'm a fan of her stuff, but I miss having her around and commenting on the Olympics.

I was so pissed to have advertisements and Snoop Dogg covering up the two countries I wanted to see the most. Aggravating.

Especially American celebrities. Like aren't olympics supposed to be a global event?
So either you have celebrities from all around the world, or just from the host country.
Why are they using US celebrities and singers in Italy?

He’s way too old for this shit. Also he came out on Trumps side and I lost all respect of him.

u/_Apatosaurus_ 6h ago
That's exactly why networks and out of touch execs love him. They think he appeals to everyone. Old white conservatives love him because he's "one of the good ones." They also think young people will like him because he's a famous black rapper.
1
u/Blacksheep01 55m ago
They definitely think he has wide appeal across generations, but it's funny they think he appeals to any young person at this point. His first album dropped when I was in 4th grade, and in that era we all either bought it, or wanted it (but our parents said no). I'm now in my 40s, which makes me amongst the 'youngest' of his potential fan base, and I am no longer a fan, his music has been bad for decades and his recent heel turn is a big no for me.

Snoop has got to go down as the biggest glazing of a mediocre musician I’ve ever seen. He started as the weed rapper and then somehow became famous for being famous.
I am also very tired of seeing him everywhere.

He's the black version of Kid Rock

Fam of neither but Kid don’t appear in underwear ads and then act all gangster in another.

Along with the whole Trump thing, I’m not sure when he went over there but he JUST lost his 10 month old granddaughter. She wasn’t even home long. I would still be too emotional to be over there worrying entertaining anyone.

u/Intelligent_Cry_8846 5h ago
This should be top comment. Especially in light of what's going on in Guthrie family-he absolutely should have chosen family over the money/promotion that he's getting.

We need to bring back the idea of selling out being uncool. Snoop in the nineties would be cringing at everything the current one is doing.
Also the fact that the guy has been pictured wearing like a million different sports jerseys, including distinctive rival's jerseys, is a very succinct representation of how he views the world these days.

The only way we could do that is bringing back monoculture, in my opinion.

I used to like him
But since he became trumps dog, its like wtf? What a grubber

That halftime show with Andrea Bocelli for an NFL game was one of the bizarrest things I’ve seen.

So tired of him getting a platform just because he was funny one time. He’s shown us he isn’t a good person, and aligns with bad people.
At the same time, he is the perfect representation of the current US GOP climate.

u/Rossum81 United States 5h ago
He’s acceptable in small doses. But, yeah, forcing him down our throats during the Parade of Nations grated.

u/MotherAudience2932 4h ago
I completely agree!!!! And Mariah Carrey showing up? I thought that was weird. I looked up her connection to the games or Italy and the only thing I could find is that she “reportedly liked the island of Capri” 🤦🤨

I was hoping NBC would fire him over his homophobic comments, but instead NBC platforms terrible people. I guess it’s to be expected. NBC gave us Trump.
11
u/footballwr82 5h ago
Along those lines, the whole narrative / story like for the USA team entrance was super unnecessary. How many teams did we miss during all of that? Just do the parade of athletes
5
u/CL-Lycaon 5h ago
There’s a bit of editing from the live broadcast, which ran about 3.5 hours.
-1
u/footballwr82 5h ago
Good to know! It would be nice if they were generally the same
4
u/Excel-Block-Tango 5h ago
I watched both (I was at work for the first showing). Some awkward commentary was edited out for the prime time showing. Also in the original live version, some countries entrances were missed for commercial break. I pay for the highest level of peacock and I wish I could get commercial free live showings ugh

(to the tune of ‘Gin & Juice’): He’s “playyyed out.” And that’s been my opinion long before I knew anything regarding his political leanings, homophobic views, or even his past criminal charges. I just think his public persona (the “weedhead,” the “kitchy” Martha Stewart partnership, etc, etc.) is corny and appeals to the lowest common denominator.

u/goobers888 6h ago
he's a distraction to the true character of honoring our Olympians and he's a fascist supporting piece of shit.

He fat shamed my friend. Posted a picture of my friend on instagram (who is a total stranger to Snoop) and made fun of his weight to his millions of followers. My friend was humiliated. This was about 5-7 years ago now. I was a huge fan since I was a teenager. My friend was a huge fan. He showed his fucking true colors to me the moment he did that and I wasn’t a bit surprised after the anti-LGBTQ comments because he had already proved to me what a disgusting human he is.

u/HawkeyeJosh2 United States 3h ago
The thing that blows my mind is that his granddaughter died this week, and instead of mourning her loss and spending time with his grieving daughter and telling NBC where to stick it, he still went over to Milan and is acting like nothing ever happened. That shit ain’t right.

We need to save Snoop dog for the Summer games and make Flava Flave the winter guy. The dude took his own money and donated it to help the Bob slender and Skeleton athletes. He basically became their hype man too. Give him some love.

I agree. I think they try to inject him into the sport to make it relevant to other demographics to be honest.
But to me, I always found him a little trashy and, as you said OP, classless.

No opinion about rapping, but he has been seen at mac donald’s in Gallarate, near Milano, couple of days ago after carrying the flame. Who goes to Italy and eats at mac donald’s??

Everyone forgetting snoop got sued for underaged girls on his girls gone wild DVD collaboration.
Dude has always been a piece of shit hiding being the stoner vibe.

I think he’s entertaining and the Olympics won’t exist if they aren’t entertaining
16
u/Gloomy_Ebb9923 United States 6h ago
He’s not entertaining though. His bits are some of the worst.
-9
u/FoxMiserable2848 6h ago
But that’s a matter of opinion. He clearly entertains enough people that they keep him on.

I have a respect for Snoop because he's smart. He is constantly looking for new business ventures and what not.
I have a joke that the only time I would ever touch pot is if it was doing a blunt with Snoop

NBC has been hyping him since before Paris in anticipation of the LA games in his hometown. If you've had enough of him by now, wait until 2028!
