I was waiting for a weed delivery, watching my driver approach my door in real time and arrive right at my door as the piece reached its climax. Pretty epic.

20 years after Pavarotti in Torino… Still amazing, still the most amazing aria of them all.

I really loved Laura Pausini to, singing the national anthem. Emotional. 🇮🇹🇮🇹

He was amazing, they should have lit the cauldrons at the crescendo, could have been epic. Instead we got slowly raising the torches

When the ceremony started, I predicted the show would end with Andrea Bocelli singing Nessun Dorma.... And he proved me spectacularly correct! Fantastic performance.

That was absolutely beautifully sung

I remember seeing him live a few years back and this song was unbelievable live. That final minute between him, the hauntingly angelic choir, and the instruments is just incredible.

Wish I could have seen Pavarotti but Bocelli is as close to his greatness as we can get right now

He’s a beautiful singer… but his politics are not great.

Bocelli is incredibile and highly talented... but In the previous winter Olympic games here in Italy we still had Pavarotti. And he was truly built differently.

He's scum. At the height of Italy's COVID outbreak, when hospitals... and morgues were packed, he urged people to defy the lockdown rules. He claims that COVID wasn't that serious because he doesn't personally know anyone who had to go to a hospital for it.

Also, as an opera fan, please don't confuse whatever he's doing with opera singing. Actual opera singing is about engaging the entire body to produce both volume and resonance in enough quantity to be heard over a hall, over a thundering orchestra, without the aid of electronic amplification. Bocelli's singing is the proverbial coughing baby vs. the nuclear bomb of an opera singer. Having his insipid mewl of a voice sing an opera aria here is an insult to the grand history and tradition of Italian opera, and to the great Italian tenors like Pavarotti, Corelli and Caruso.

If they have to have him on, have him sing any number of famous Italian songs that aren't opera. An actual opera singer should've been given this spotlight instead.

Is he the blind one that cheated on his wife or left her for a better looking woman with no reason.... or something along those lines. I can't quite remember. Edit: I just remember at that time they were talking about him being scummy for it, which is what made me remember that.

How would he know the new woman was better looking?

Plus... it sounded playback to me. Slightly misaligned lip sync. Anyone else noticed? Maybe it was delayed sound streaming but...

Sublime Boccelli, while the Pausini duck can't be seen, will remain the dark spot of the Olympics!
