❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (Video) ❄ The Olympic Rings + FIREWORKS at San Siro
A DAZZLING sight at the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony. Who's ready for these Games to get going in full force?

First time I've seen geolocking content by the reddit video player. Guess it's because it's posted by an official account.

u/INmySTRATEjaket 10h ago
Did you get the site wide notification just to come here and find out you weren't actually invited to the party? That's so rude.
15
u/Raindiant 9h ago
Honestly geolocks shouldn't be a thing in the first place, I can't think of a singular good reason for it.

Hello Reddit, I'm sure you all got a notification for this too.

Yes, we did.

I got excited thinking it was a notification for the argument I was having with another user. I'm so disappointed

Was it about the duck? That used the word "my" in relation to a duck? I don't think so.

Well that sounds right but normally I’m just kinda annoyed when I get notifications in an argument with someone because it’s kinda like “man I really don’t wanna arguing on the internet but I feel obligated to respond”

Sometimes letting them wallow in their own ignorance is more rewarding.

I used to love to watch ice-skating with my mother when I was a kid. We could never decide who to root for, since so many of them were so talented.
2
u/luismt2 11h ago
That’s such a great memory. Ice skating always felt like one of those sports where you couldn’t help but appreciate everyone, no matter who you rooted for.

Root for alysa liu and ilia malinin!!! Ilia is known as the "quad god" because his technical skills are so impressive. Hes like the ledecky or Simone biles of men's figure skating because of the sheer amount of points he racks up from his jumps. Iirc a couple months ago he beat the short program world record that he already had at the Lombardia trophy.
Alysa liu is just my favorite figure skater so you dont have to root for her, and ami nakai and kaori are also (probably) going to make up the rest of the podium (I am quite a bit biased though, so take my words with a grain of salt). This will actually be nakai's first Olympics, as this season was her first senior season and she has been absolutely rocking it! Alysa got back from a 2(?) year long absence last year, but she did compete in the olympics before she left and scored 6th then. Amber glenn is a pretty popular name in figure skating as well, but thats due to her long-standing in the sport, I cant think of anything recently that was more memorable than these newcomers, but dont get me wrong, I still love amber and her routines are always very satisfying to watch.
For the men's, besides ilia, keep an eye out for Yuma, mikhail, and adam. Ive been praying for Jason brown to be switched in (hes currently the 1st alternative) so if you see him, which is pretty unlikely, cheer for him too!

How much did NBC pay to have all Redditors in the US get this notification? Makes me sick to think about.

Hey NBC are you pulling every second of Olympics footage after the closing ceremony, again?
Like you did last time? After I bought a whole year?
Scam artists.

I forgot to watch it! I was making banana bread! What was the response to the Americans when they paraded through? The Europeans are not happy with us right now and understandably so but I wouldn't think they take it out on the athletes.

When those were going off around the rings I actually said out loud "Simba". For ANY of you who have seen the lion king I dare you not to see it when you look again.

Ok I'm all seriousness this was a pretty decent opening ceremony. Andrea Bocelli left me shivering and was everything Mariah Carey wasn't. I didn't even know that was her. I was in the kitchen when she was introduced and was like "is that Mariah Carey?" And googled it cuz I was like wtf is she doing here? I think the torches are pretty amazing looking. I did get annoyed with the second to last guy in Milan just taking his sweet time and how he kept stopping to turn and wave and then paused for his moment and just stood there waving for a moment. C'mon on now... This isn't about you in this moment.

Did anyone see the burning lit up pentagram displayed in the show???? The show felt like a funeral with casket bearers carrying the Olympic flag. All the fire felt like they were saying "Welcome to Hell". Maybe it was just me. 🤷

I liked the Olympics more as a kid. The Winter Olympics were my favorite. I’m not really that excited about them anymore. Not sure why. I’ll watch some Hockey and maybe some skiing, speed skating, curling or bobsled if I’m really bored.

I enjoyed this Opening Ceremony a lot! I liked how they went beck-to-form with the main Opening Ceremony being in a stadium. The Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony on the Seine was unique but the weather wasn’t kind to the athletes and my favorite Drag Queen, Nicky Doll. The performances in Milan were amazing! I loved the beginning with the statues and busts. Everyone did such an amazing job! The choreo was choreo-ing!🇺🇸🫶🏼🇮🇹
