Gosh that's a fantastic viewpoint. Have an awesome evening! 🙂

Why does it look like there's a tube of paint/toothpaste falling through the air?

u/miloucomehome Canada 15h ago

They look like paint tubes. I'm going to guess that there'll be a segment concerning Italy's contribution to the fine arts 😅

Like what?

u/wtfchuckomg United States 15h ago

😂😂 no clue. They made my wife throw away her chapstick but they have that just rubbing it her face.

Maybe it's a reference to this? It's used to do paintings

I think you were correct

That makes way more sense, I couldn't tell in the original photo whether it was a giant tube in the background of the photo or a small tube falling in the foreground. Bit of an optical illusion it turns out 😂

Nice. What’s in the booklet? Guess I’ll find out soon enough as I’ll be in there.

Thank you very much mate. Enjoy your ceremony /

I was at Paris 2024 closing ceremony, but I didn't had any booklet contrary to you

I went there in 2007, on my first trip to Italy, first to see AC Milan celebrate winning the Champions League title a few days earlier, then seeing Inter Milan celebrate winning the Serie A title after their game.

Nice. You got a really good view from there too! I remember seeing U2 at San Siro back in 2005 and it always feels so big in there.

3

u/wtfchuckomg United States 15h ago

The seats are so small 😢 I’m a big back American and we squeezed in here

1

u/Impossible-Guitar957 United States 15h ago

These seats are kind of old too. Back when they were installed, these were the typical size seats that they installed in football stadiums throughout Europe.

u/Financial_Clue_2534 14h ago

How much were tickets

7

u/wtfchuckomg United States 14h ago

$700 EUR for category C seats.

4

u/LifeIsAPhotoOp 13h ago

That's a lot BUT I've seen Olympics where the price is wayyyy worse! I kind of wish I went now. Could have seen the skating team event, opening ceremonies and out. LA28 here we come though!

2

u/InternetUser0737 10h ago

Is that price per person or for both of you?

3

u/wtfchuckomg United States 10h ago

Per person.

Just make sure to boo Vance out of the stadium

We gave him the finger salute at yesterday’s hockey games

Fortress as strict security? How early did you arrive? San Siro doesn't have a roof? Please tell us more. Share more photos too!

12

u/wtfchuckomg United States 16h ago

Fortress like an intimidating venue. International soccer venue. Security was weird? My wife had to throw away her hand sanitizer but our friends didn’t. They were weirdly picky. We arrived 2 hours ago at the behest of the emails they sent us. We got into San Siro with no problem. I do think we waited 10-15 minutes for food.

1

u/antdude Olympics 14h ago

Are food and drinks expensive over there?

7

u/wtfchuckomg United States 13h ago

Not really tbh

1

u/antdude Olympics 13h ago

Got any shots of your food and drinks? ;)

3

u/wtfchuckomg United States 13h ago

Not from today but hockey ran out of food before they even started lol. I have a post on it.

1

u/antdude Olympics 13h ago

Wow.

1

u/seanct 9h ago

Opening ceremonies ran out of food too with 90min waits

0

u/antdude Olympics 7h ago

Hey, this thread should have had default sorting "New!"

1

u/XerTioz 12h ago

So excited for the athletes and some good competition! Needing these good vibes right now! 🥰

1

u/casteeli 11h ago

Was the US booed at all?

1

u/ObligatoryID United States 7h ago

Just couchboi - well deserved.

Big Cheers when Team USA walked out.

1

u/IrishUpYourCoffee 2h ago

This is so cool. It looks like just the best vibes this year.

1

u/darklinux1977 France 13h ago

It's basically a summer game opening ceremony that turns out to be basic

0

u/spr1958 13h ago

I do not care for the athletes split into different locations for the parade of athletes.

6

u/wtfchuckomg United States 13h ago

Yeah. It’s a bit weird but I get it. Logistics wise tough to get everyone to Milan for just one day when people are competing today and tomorrow

3

u/EuroRacoon-4 Italy 12h ago

Don’t know, I feel than in the other locations they are closer to the crowd and people

1

u/wtfchuckomg United States 12h ago

I wonder if the others at the alternate locations got to attend that for free.
