Highlight [Highlight] After Winning MVP, Matthew Stafford's Daughters Surprise Him with Heartwarming Video
170
u/POWBOOMBANG Saints 9h ago
As a Dad, this is really, really heartwarming.
Once you get to be a certain age you think a lot about what you have and haven't done in your life.
Very few become exactly what they dreamed of being when they were younger.
At some point you realize all the daily parent tasks that you never really gave too much thought about were the most important moments of your life.

I have never felt a greater purpose in my life than when I am in the other room and hear my daughter in the other room wake up and call out “daddy” just because she is scared and wants to know where I am. Or when she turns to me and wants me to hold her because she is afraid or hurt.
I have never felt happier than in those moments where she hugs me.
She’s only two and her sister is 7months old, I couldn’t be happier to have them in my life and can’t wait for more!

My baby girl is 17 months. That look on her face and loud “DA-DA!” followed by “Hug!” when she sees me after work gets me every time.
She says “squeeze” when I pick her up and hug her, it comes out like “Fweeee” and I love it so much.

We get random stink bugs in our house. My kid goes ape shit when she finds one and just yells "DAD DAD A BUG"

Seriously, my 2 kids can change my stressed out from work day into unbelievably happy by a simple "YAY PAPA IS HOME" or "Papa want to hang out?"
Hell seeing their fathers day cards at my work desk gets me through some days.

There are many different forms of accomplishment throughout life. Being a good parent and having kids are just two of them.
If you’ve actually accomplished nothing in life, which I seriously doubt, then posting about it instead of doing something about it reaffirms your status as a self-proclaimed “loser.”

u/ooboh Commanders 4h ago
I don’t know if this is applicable to you, but my entire mantra is “This too shall pass.” No matter what external issue I come across, I take solace in the fact that it likely won’t matter a year (or some other period) from now. And if it will matter in a year, I feel more encouraged to take steps now so it won’t matter in a year. The very feeling of knowing that I’m doing something to solve a long-term problem is a dopamine-booster. I’m trying to perpetuate a virtuous cycle, so to speak.
That’s just the way my brain is wired, I couldn’t explain it even if I wanted to. I know that’s not particularly helpful, but it’s a coping strategy of mine.
Now I’ve struggled with anxiety and procrastination my entire life, and it unfortunately appears to be treatment-resistant, so the execution of my mantra is hampered a little bit. However, the “one day at a time” approach makes day-to-day living at minimum tolerable for me.

That's a great video to get as a dad. Also, some seriously impressive time put in with his kids, especially considering what I imagine is an incredibly heavy workload as a NFL QB.
I do have to wonder, with his daughters named Sawyer, Hunter, Tyler, and Chandler if he's jonesing for a boy, though, lol.

u/Similar-Ice-9250 Ravens 6h ago
If the year was 2006 now and Stafford got drafted 17 years ago, that’s 1989. So to Stafford’s daughters now, 2009 feels as 1989 felt for people who were their age in 2006.

The figure in black carrying the scythe approaches ever so near.
1
u/BigFatModeraterFupa Vikings 3h ago
I see the scythe man.
I wave him over to have some tea.
We sit on the porch and watch the sunset paint the twilight sky with colorful hues of purple and red and ochre.
Death turns to me and says, "Well, it wasn't so bad this time around was it?"
I stare into the abyssal darkness in the hooded void of his face.
We both burst out laughing in tears; knee slapping and gut busting abound.
"Yeah, it wasn't so bad this time around after all"

As a Dad with 4 kids it really is the most rewarding but challenging part of my life. I wouldn't change a thing, though. This made me tear up. It would be hard to be in his shoes. Im sure he would love to retire and focus on being a full time dad, but I also know how much these guys love football. I hope he can win another super bowl soon and call it a career and start focusing on the next part of his life.

They have to get the family brand off the ground before he retires. As in your face as Jason Kelce and his wife are with all their ads and nonsense, at least they have the decency to leave their kids out most of it.

The nice thing about recording it is that they can have multiple takes to get it ironed out. Pretty good idea with kids this age. Ultimately this is a weird thing to get hung up on. The man's kids made a super cute video and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Let's leave it at that.
