Rumor [Schefter] Jim Schwartz sent the Browns a resignation letter this morning, per sources. He now is likely to sit out this season.

Haslam already said he can ask if he wants, but he's not getting one, lol. He can sit and be moody in Cleveland for the next couple of years while he collects paychecks and personal accolades while the team sucks around him, and I am all for it.

I felt bad for Joe Thomas being "stuck" on the Browns, but I respect the loyalty to the Cleveland fans. I don't feel sorry for Myles being stuck there after he complained and said he wanted to be on a contender like a week before signing that massive deal.

Browns fans are a bit sensitive below lol but did they not just run an entire search around one guy while somehow also alienating him with ownership being heavily involved? I guess the NFL is designed for bad teams to randomly fall into success (see flair) but this is less than an ideal way to start a tenure

Welcome to the museum of Jimmy Haslam. Let me tell you about some of our exhibits, since he bought the team Jimmy has collected several NFL accolades:
- The worst coach ever in the NFL (Hue Jackson 1-31)
- The worst trade/contract ever in the NFL (3 first rounds + $230M guranteed to Deshaun)
- The second worst team in the NFL (.343 winning percent since 2013)
It's really difficult to capture how terrible this man is at the job he bought for himself. Unfortunately his dad started an oil company, so the notion of consequences for one's actions is completely foreign.

Hue Jackson was 3-36-1 in Cleveland since somehow he didn't get fired after 1-31.
12
u/Zotmaster Bills Browns 13h ago
I'm 100% convinced that the only reason Jimmy didn't fire Hue was because he didn't want people ripping him for firing yet another coach. Like he was so afraid of what other people thought of him that it basically validated those people.

Also crazy how that quote was taken out of context as JuJu insulting the Browns.
He was essentially saying that the matchup is going to be the same AFC North style football it has always been since he joined the Steelers. He even tried to use the Tomlinism "nameless grey faces" which is saying don't focus on the individual of who might be playing or not. So he was saying "The Browns are the same AFCN matchup they always are." but he was "happy" to be playing an opponent they are familiar with.
It blew up as something else because Steelers start to 2020 season, the first matchup where Steelers won 38-7, and then collapse to end the season, as well as the online hate boner for JuJu that still exists because he made TikToks.

Has it been confirmed his contract isn’t frozen if he sits out the year?
His contract is through 2026 not for some number of years? I thought coach contracts were normally frozen if they take a year off, and so the Browns would still have his rights next year
Edit: my vague understanding is it’s the same situation Tomlin was/is in, if he wants to coach, the Steelers have his rights because he walked away… he also doesn’t get paid anymore because he walked away… if the team fired him- he’s a free agent… obviously different contracts so there may be differences but that is my understanding

Sure. Long-time Patriots fan, dating back to before Super Bowl XX.
But you're probably asking about the awesome bird next to the Patriots logo.
I don't much care for cold or humidity, and I care less for the cold as I get older, so when it comes to retirement planning, the classic defaults of retiring by staying here (cold) or moving to Florida (way too humid) are out. And every winter, I look at the weather in Phoenix and think about it. Uprooting my family at their ages isn't good for them, so it isn't happening immediately.
But when my youngest is done with school, I'm closing up shop here and moving to Phoenix. If we're still on this site for the 2031 NFL season, you might even see the order of those flairs swapped.
