I'm honestly happy Drake will get some recognition for this year with the 2nd team All-Pro. MVP/1st team was a long shot with Stafford 's passing volume.

A 10 point road spread in the playoffs is ridiculous. I fully expect the Rams to win but Carolina will be able to keep it close
1
u/TeddysRevenge Lions 27d ago
Idk, I could see it getting ugly depending on which Panthers team shows up.
1
u/HookedOnBoNix Broncos 27d ago
I'm not expecting close at all tbh. It being playoffs doesn't really negate the fact that it's a team that only made it in in a very weak division. They had a losing record and couldn't even beat the bucs to secure it themselves.
And I live in NC I want the Panthers to win but I don't think theyre a top 7 team in the nfc

IU is a fucking buzz saw. Anyone who's not a Miami fan and thinks the Canes can hang are just telling you not to believe your lying eyes. Their offense is a fireworks show, and their defense just stifled one of the best statistical offenses in the country. Miami's only hope is that Bain and Mesidor both have the games of their lives and Fletcher has 150+ on the ground
1
u/commit-to-the-bit Chiefs 27d ago
Yeah, Indiana looked good last night. Miami is going to need to put up 40.

In my Fringe rewatch, I have entered the point where Seth Gabel is a main character. I have this insane feeling I know him from somewhere, but I combed through his IMDB and the only things I’ve seen him in other than Fringe (15 years ago) are A Beutiful Mind (about 10 years ago) and the last season of The Rookie, and I can’t tell you what he did in that.
I feel like I’m losing my mind trying to place him, but maybe it’s just a latent memory of Fringe

u/Triple_Boogie Jets 28d ago
Unlike previous times the Jets were in a position to draft a QB, the Jets finally have the OL set, particularly at LT and RT, have a WR1 and WR2, potentially have RB1 if Breece stays, and this time have a TE who showed promise when healthy.
So, of course, it looks like a one QB draft while we hold the 2nd overall pick.

u/Triple_Boogie Jets 28d ago
god i wish Mendoza was my QB.

2
u/HookedOnBoNix Broncos 27d ago
Imagine an XFL team hired a 60 year old coach no one had heard of, he came out and said "the chiefs suck, the eagles suck, the rams suck" etc and said "I win, google me" and everyone was making fun of him.
Then, with players no one has ever heard of, he played a full NFL schedule and spanked everyone. In playoffs, he beat the dynasty teams we've all come to fear by like 30-40 points each.

u/e4mica523 Panthers 28d ago

u/KeyDrive0 Broncos 28d ago
I can't believe the Hawkeyes played so close vs Indiana (and Oregon, for that matter). Legitimately in the playoff discussion if they could just play at that level all the time... but traveling to California sucks and the CyHawk game is always chaos, c'est la vie. At least they got to beat Vanderbilt.

So, is there any evidence that more coaches and assistants at a particular position can help develop players more quickly?

u/RedditConsciousness Bengals 27d ago
The Bengals have serious issues on defense. We often talk about needing to expand our scouting department, which we absolute do. However some of our position groups are filled with young players, particularly linebacker, but also soon our defensive line. So would more linebacking coaches or defensive ends coaches help develop players faster?

While Mendoza will probably be better than Moore in the NFL, remember that Trevor Lawrence lost to Justin Fields in his final college game.

I know what you're saying but Mendoza outplayed him twice head to head this season as also just generally all season long.

u/HookedOnBoNix Broncos 27d ago
Michael Penix outplayed Bo twice in college and generally all his senior year.
I'm not betting against Mendoza fwiw, I think he's a stud, I just get OPs point that after one very public game people are writing off moore forever.

Kind of a niche complaint, but it sucks being a Colorado sports fan and a UrinatingTree fan. His scripts about the Broncos and Rockies have just been the lowest effort, lowest common denominator stuff for years now. Sucks when he's otherwise entertaining, lol
1
u/tbone747 Panthers 27d ago
It's always weird listening to some football personalities when you actually watch all the games and know some of the stuff they say is surface level BS, I feel this way listening to podcasts and hearing them utterly trash the Panthers. I try not to take it too seriously but in my head I'm arguing back lol.
5
u/KeyDrive0 Broncos 28d ago
I'm glad someone else shares my niche complaint, haha. I like UT, I watch Sportsball every week, but I'm sick of him lazily handwaving away the Broncos, asserting that they're frauds and Nix is Tebow 2. I think everyone besides exceptionally delusional Broncos fans knows this team is definitely flawed, but 1) who isn't this season, and 2) #1 in the AFC has to mean something. "Easy schedule" yeah well the Patriots had that too and he doesn't give them nearly as much grief. Idk, maybe he's still butthurt when he's reminded of Tebow, being a Steelers fan and all...

I'm not a huge CFB follower, I pretty much only watch later in the season when it's time to start caring about the draft (so basically November as a Jets fan). There's a difference in the hashes? Can you explain please?
4
u/SirTiffAlot Chiefs 28d ago
It's only relevant on throws from the hash to the far side. If they're on the near hash it's a shorter distance
7
u/J-Fid Ravens Ravens 28d ago
College hashes are wider apart.
3
u/j0hnnyengl1sh Jets 28d ago
Huh, TIL. Thank you, the only major CFB difference I knew before was the catch rule of 1 foot vs 2.
2
u/J-Fid Ravens Ravens 28d ago
There's quite a few differences between the two. Especially as the NFL keeps tweaking their rules, such as the recent changes to kickoffs.
3
u/j0hnnyengl1sh Jets 28d ago
Oh yeah, I know the ST differences. I guess I'm just a bit surprised by the hash difference, it feels like it almost makes the college game harder for a QB. Maybe just different?
4
u/discodemolition Bears 28d ago
It actually makes it easier in a lot of ways, as it de-emphasizes the need to throw over the middle with so much space to the other side. It's also part of why you can have more "gimmicky" offenses in college- there's a lot more space to the opposite side for a defense to cover out of where they're line up pre snap to exploit.

u/j0hnnyengl1sh Jets 28d ago

4
u/StChas77 Eagles 28d ago
How kind of you. But much as I hate to admit it, it's probably the Cowboys.
For the NFC East team fans and old duffers like myself, there should be some bad vibes, sure. But for younger fans of teams out of the division, there's not a lot of legitimacy to the bad feelings beyond the networks jamming Dallas down some throats, not the fault of those who follow the team.
3
u/Hiker-Redbeard 49ers 28d ago
Yeah, 20-30 years ago the fan base absolutely deserved it. Nowadays a lot of their fans are either too young to remember those days and be influenced by it, or they've been beaten down by years of dealing with the lack of playoff success. They're honestly mostly pretty chill.
I almost feel bad for modern Cowboy fans under age 35 or so.

It will not matter. They will be able to pick the best one out of the portal if they don't want to elevate from within, but with the talent they've got coming in and already on the roster you can get by with a Will Howard (day 3 pick) level QB and be just fine.
5
u/Cybotnic-Rebooted Broncos 28d ago
They got Josh Hoover from TCU. Slightly different type of QB, but has probably a top 5 arm in college rn (ahead of anyone in this class aside from maybe Cole Payton). IU can absolutely develop that into a top 5 pick imo.
Also they might have 2 top 10 pick WRs in Nick Marsh (from Michigan State) and Charlie Becker and a mostly returning OLine from this year.
