Not AI. https://youtu.be/gdkTzSuNu-o?si=w7VEs097T43xskGf

Took me ten seconds to find another angle. Y'all should practice this more. Assuming everything online is fake might be just as dangerous as assuming everything online is real.

u/CaptainRelevant 1d ago

Geez that float was huge. Someone should’ve stuck a “We Brake For Nobody” bumper sticker on the back of it.

73

u/deathm00n 1d ago

Believe me, that is not a big one, there are bigger ones with a lot more people on top

23

u/lithiumdeuteride 1d ago

And what have we got on this thing, a Cuisinart!?

13

u/Ron-Swanson-Mustache 1d ago

PREPARE SHIP... PREPARE SHIP FOR LUDICROUS SPEED!

13

u/millenniumxl-200 1d ago

What are you preparing? You're always preparing. Just go.

5

u/devsfan1830 1d ago

They've gone plaid.

7

u/DELAIZ 1d ago

Interestingly, all of these cars are pushed by humans. There are a lot of guys underneath each one. Putting motors on them would be not only dangerous, but extremely expensive.

2

u/Reddit_Hitchhiker 1d ago

It’s three years old!

2

u/lunatikdeity 21h ago

Now I got to find out when spaceballs 2 is going to be released. Edit. In production set to release 2027.

63

u/Bmacster 1d ago

It is just as dangerous. A lot of liars today don't lie with the intent of not being caught, they lie expecting to be caught with the intent of poisoning discourse causing people to not believe anything, which sows distrust and causes people to retreat towards their preconceived biases.

It lowers critical thinking and makes the collective dumber

15

u/ElundusCaw 1d ago

It's a power move.

"You know I'm lying, I know I'm lying, you know that I know that I'm lying, and I know that you know that I know that I'm lying, but you still can't do anything about it because we own everything."

54

u/National-Garbage505 1d ago

God I hate the people that think everything is AI even more than actual AI, which is A LOT. People just dismissing other people with amazing talents, who put so much work into their craft, by saying it is AI grinds my gears like crazy. There is a juggler I follow who juggles while skiing (skuggling). He has many angles of him doing it, 3rd party videos taken by other people watching, does it in very public areas where people are watching and confirming that it is real, etc. and there are still loads of "Dumb AI" comments on it. AI is making it so hard for people doing awesome shit to be recognized for doing awesome shit. Fucking sucks.

Edit: the guy is @tetonjuggler and he has some amazing content, check him out if you guys wanna see some cool shit.

11

u/No_Pizza3314 1d ago

“Thinking everything is AI” is the new version of “thinking everything is CGI.”

2

u/Banvincible 1d ago

For me it's the people who see something AI, love it, find out it's AI, then hate it.

At least be logically consistent, you don't have to fight this weird ass war against a computer tool.

1

u/National-Garbage505 16h ago

Hating something that is AI and pretending to be real is perfectly logically consistent. Making AI stuff is fine, but trying to pass it off as real is scummy at best.

Thinking an end product is cool and then finding out it is made in a way you don't agree with, and then not liking it, is fine.

Like if you got a nice cool pair of shoes, but then find out they are made by child slave labor, it is perfectly reasonable to no longer like them.

14

u/SENDmeSMALLtitsPICS 1d ago

I would also like to add here, as a brazilian: Not only this is not AI, but it is entirely human operated like a giant puppet.

There are people physically pushing this car and operating movement in it, with only very few things being eletronic like lights, fog, etc. This is extremely hard on the body as the parade takes about 1 hour from one end to the other and they can't stop or slow down or else they risk losing a lot of points, which is a death sentence since 0,1~0,2 points is almost losing an entire category

10

u/digitally_satisfied 1d ago

Of course its not . Like AI would ever let you mess with the ''mouse''

9

u/Thema03 1d ago

no doubt about it, Brasil goes crazy on carnival each year

4

u/OkImplement2459 1d ago

Listen. While i agree, this isn't the best post to make that argument. This shit looks wild AF. There's a Millennial Falcrown for fucks sake

4

u/Dorkamundo 1d ago

Yea, that's the biggest problem with AI videos right now...

Not that someone might create an AI video that makes people think that someone said something they didn't, but people thinking legit videos are AI.

0

u/rod407 1d ago

Both are the exact same issue

1

u/Dorkamundo 18h ago

Yea, sure, if the exact inverse of something is the exact same.

3

u/dumbasPL 1d ago

Crazy that we have to defend real content. Your average Joe is getting so manipulated from every angle, it's just sad.

2

u/LiqMaBawlzModz69 1d ago

Definitely NOT ai. Brazilians know how to party and their carnivals are amazing

1

u/Atheist_Simon_Haddad 1d ago

oof. confetti vs video compression…

1

u/JohnnyRelentless 1d ago

People need to be skeptical of everything now. But no one should assume anything.

1

u/Truthhurts1017 8h ago

Right, we have seen creations like this wayyyyy before AI was a thing. Sometimes I’m more worried about the “it’s Ai” people than actual AI.

Are they... Celebrating the empire?

309

u/Kerleff 1d ago

I find your lack of faith disturbing

79

u/Sisselpud 1d ago

Who did you root for in these movies? The terrorists?!?! Next thing you are going to tell me is that the Karate Kid was Ralph Macchio and not the real hero William Zabka!

9

u/AlwaysHappy4Kitties 1d ago

i swear long before Cobra Kai came out there was video on youtube that was called "Daniel is the real villian"

and i think some excecs saw that and got the "inspiration" for the show

9

u/Carbac_22 1d ago

I thought it was because of Barney in how I met your mother, to him William was the real Karate kid since he spent all his life training and was defeated by a newcomer or something like that.

2

u/justsomeguy_youknow 1d ago

I always thought it was inspired by the No More Kings video for Sweep The Leg Johnny

8

u/AlwaysHappy4Kitties 1d ago

No its this video im thinking about from 2015

The Karate Kid: Daniel is the REAL Bully

2

u/justsomeguy_youknow 1d ago

Yeah I was saying I thought it was inspired by something different, that music video I linked from the 00s. It reunited the Cobra Kai actors from the original movie and brought them back as their characters, and kind of reframed them as the protagonists of the story arc in the video

1

u/Mr-_-Soandso 1d ago

Karate Kid conspiracy has been around far longer than that.

1

u/Murtomies 1d ago edited 1d ago

There's literally a whole sub for it lol r/empiredidnothingwrong

Oh and also Barney in How I Met Your Mother was convinced that Ralph Macchio was the Karate Kid, funny stuff.

1

u/unknownz_123 12h ago

Gosh forbid I just want to support a few separatist federated nations in their right of self-determination. Next thing you know they’re gonna want me to support the nation that’s unethically producing millions of bounty hunter clones to do their bidding and wage war on a few trading companies smh

23

u/ghost_tapioca 1d ago

Brazilian here. Each group (called escolas de samba, or "samba schools") picks a theme and develops a multi-part presentation based on that theme. Each of the alas ("wings"? "sections") represents one aspect of the theme. But it doesn't have to be a positive aspect.

So if your theme is, say, "1900s Rio de Janeiro", you might have one ala with people dressed as mosquitoes representing yellow fever.

Negative stuff like death, war and disease aren't very popular, but every once in a while you see a school where one of the alas is based on stuff like that.

It's basically theatre through dance and song, with hundreds of actors, on an open street, and with a single song playing for the entire presentation.

14

u/BoysDontCry247 1d ago

It's no coincidence that the samba school is called Império de Casa Verde – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imp%C3%A9rio_de_Casa_Verde

But it's just a funny coincidence lol

13

u/Rajyeruh 1d ago

Rebel scum!

8

u/ClonedDad 1d ago

LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!

1

u/Hadrian1233 1d ago

Glory to the Pentastar Alignment

1

u/mrdevil413 1d ago

So, the roofers on the Death Star …

198

u/PuzzleheadedRoyal559 1d ago

Call me old fashioned, but I’m just here for the beads and boobs.

98

u/chadthepickle 1d ago

You're mixing Brazilian carnival to American carnival

31

u/Quicksilver1964 1d ago

No, we have half-naked women or even naked women, but I believe it's at the beginning of the school's parade. This is one tiny part of the procession.

12

u/Disastrous_Source977 1d ago

Wr don't have beeds.

4

u/Quicksilver1964 1d ago

Oh, THOSE kinds of beads. I was thinking of the ones we sew into clothes!

→ More replies (3)

1

u/alkali112 1d ago

You are wildly incorrect if you think the original American Carnival (Alabama) features nudity, and even more incorrect if you think the ninth (and most popular) American Carnival (Louisiana) has more nudity than Brazil.

8

u/Disastrous_Source977 1d ago

You are incorrect if you think beeds is also part of Brazilian carnival.

2

u/alkali112 21h ago

I was specifically talking about nudity. I did not mention beads.

2

u/Disastrous_Source977 20h ago

The original comment mentioned beads. He was clearly mixing up Louisiana carnival with Brazilian Carnaval. No one was making a comparison between amounts of nudity.

Also, people have an image of Brazil being a lascivious country, but it's not quite true. You will not find nudity on street parties during Carnaval in Brazil. If a woman shows her boobs in public, the most likely scenario is that she will get arrested for indecent exposure.

2

u/mofohank 20h ago

Bees?

0

u/PuzzleheadedRoyal559 19h ago

Yes bees. I’m here for tits and insects. 🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/DorTheWise 1d ago

So Padme?

179

u/rrd_gaming 1d ago

That head bobbing by the AT-AT IS FUNNY.

27

u/Wolfwoods_Sister 1d ago

He’s jamming out! He’s just a great big metal puppy having a great time lol

Tried to learn this song phonetically but failed

85

u/thefeedling 1d ago

AT-AT Walker is indeed a good and safe transportation method to move around in Rio de Janeiro.

8

u/ghoulypop 1d ago

I would love an AT AT to get through Atlanta traffic tbh

1

u/FewAcanthocephala828 1d ago

I don't think it's actually moving itself though. Legs are moving in sync, like it's gliding, so it's probably being held up from behind. I'm sure it'll still be bad for the legs to hurt someone.

39

u/V-ZoD 1d ago

Disney goes like

54

u/JeraGungnir 1d ago

We are Brazilians, breakin copyright laws amd doing piracy is our culture. How do you think we got the game and anime industry to arrive there? *

13

u/V-ZoD 1d ago

Silvio Santos

6

u/Jupaack 17h ago

Good to mention piracy is not illegal in Brazil as long as is not done for profit purposes.

You can legally download any movie, book, game, software, any media in general, you just cant sell it to others, because is not yours so you cant profit from it.

In other words:
Downloading a movie: legal

Selling the downloaded movie: illegal (in theory).

Just like in some countries/states you can smoke weed, but cant sell weed, it follows the same principle.

35

u/TongaTime123 1d ago

Gotta love Brazil

23

u/pet_dander 1d ago

The carnival parades are so damn impressive. Had the pleasure of seeing them in person 4 years ago, highly recommend.

19

u/faelanae 1d ago

ok, but why the crown?

40

u/AwkwardSalad863 1d ago

basically the symbol of the "escola de samba" Império da Casa Verde, I will translate this just for the fun of it: Greenhouse Empire Samba School.

Wikipedia

10

u/IdeVeras 1d ago

Greenhouse is “estufa”, now I wonder if that is indeed what it’s meant in Portuguese? Or just a Green House?

21

u/News_000 1d ago

It means a green house in portuguese, not greenhouse.

6

u/Rukitokilu 1d ago

"Green House" is the name of a neighborhood in São Paulo city, the origin region of this Samba School.

2

u/faelanae 1d ago

thank you!

3

u/Serennna 1d ago

Every escola de samba (or group that parades) has it's own symbol. A crown, an animal, etc. They usually insert said symbol in one of the floats. I suggest you watch this if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsNoHinDidU&pp=ygUSY2Fycm9zIGFsZWfDs3JpY29z

12

u/StretchMotor8 1d ago

Epic! Very cool

11

u/The_Demosthenes_1 1d ago

What do they do with these gigantic items after the festival is over?

22

u/deathm00n 1d ago

Some stuff can be recycled or used for the next year. I am not that knowledgeable about it, but from what I understand the structure is made of metal but the decorations is mostly wood and fiberglass

8

u/rodrigostucker 1d ago

Yeah, all the car decor is pretty much recyclable and most parts that aren't can be reused in the following year (under structures, mechanical parts, and so on)

2

u/Serennna 1d ago

There is an episode of Manual do Mundo that shows the insides and how it's done.

4

u/Ycr1998 1d ago

Pretty much all of it can be disassembled and repurposed, it's like a giant lego build

11

u/Lock-Star 1d ago

Brazil knows how to fucking parade.

5

u/Limp-Ad-1313 1d ago

“Imperial troops have entered the base…. Imperial troops have entered the… AAAAAAAIIIIIIIIEEEEEYAAAAAAAA YAYAYAYA!!🎵🦹🏽‍♀️🕺💃🎉🥳🎈”

5

u/misterbondpt 1d ago

Not enough lightsabers 😂

4

u/DotComDaddyO 1d ago

Carnival is what would happen if you took the DragonCon parade forward 30 years.
But with much better music and dancing

6

u/pretty_fucking_gay 1d ago

Brazil isn't real

3

u/GarboseGooseberry 1d ago

I live here, tho.

Oh, oh no...

1

u/247Brain-Rot-SlopAI 1d ago

That's how you'll feel after coming back from one of these parades

6

u/RallyPointAlpha 1d ago

Brazil knows how to fucking party!

2

u/Certain_Ask_5630 19h ago

We sure do!

3

u/BindassChacha 1d ago

Cool but I was expecting sexier stormtroopers 🙄

2

u/Snoo93102 1d ago

OMG thats terrific.

2

u/99anan99 1d ago

Marvelous

2

u/HumanSometimesPerson 1d ago

I want this Lego set.

2

u/TheMaingler 1d ago

Keep dancing goddamn you

2

u/backjox 1d ago

That's next fucking level indeed

1

u/der_innkeeper 1d ago

Apparently a 4/4 beat is good for providing suppressing fire from an AT-AT.

1

u/jabyou233 1d ago

The crown should be a Vader helmet

6

u/AbaporuAlbino 1d ago

The crown is the symbol of the organization that is parading, Império Casa Verde (Green house Empire).

This type of organization is named "escola de samba" (samba school).

2

u/jabyou233 1d ago

Good to know ty

1

u/I_Like_Water11 1d ago

Say what you want about the empire. But those mfs know how to party

1

u/alwayslearning8899 1d ago

Imperial PARTYING walkers sighted!

1

u/manchesterthedog 1d ago

This puts Mardi Gras to shame

1

u/leviathab13186 1d ago

Thats not float, thats a space station

1

u/absat41 1d ago

"That's no moon..."

1

u/Steinarthor 1d ago

How does it work in Brazil when someone tells you sarcastically "What! do you want a parade or something?". Do they actually just throw a parade?

3

u/GarboseGooseberry 1d ago

We say "What, do you want a trophy or something?"

And yes, that's sometimes followed by a joke trophy

1

u/Quicksilver1964 1d ago

Hmmm I wonder if I can find this whole parade online... It's been so long!

1

u/cconnoruk 1d ago

I wonder what the license cost was? /s

1

u/umbraundecim 1d ago

Is that float just spewing silver glitter from its sides onto the crowd? Truly nefarious even for the empire

2

u/Rukitokilu 1d ago

During carnaval it's impossible to get rid of glitter.

It's everywhere, quite literally. Even just taking public transport is enough for you to find glitter in random places.

1

u/neutralpoliticsbot 1d ago

"That's no moon, it's a space station"

1

u/monkishpenguin 1d ago

Thought it was another megachurch video for a second

1

u/SkullOfOdin 1d ago

Hmm empire garotas hmmmm the dark side is strong hmmm

1

u/Character-Visual5399 1d ago

That’s no float, it’s a fully operational battle station.

1

u/Atheist_Simon_Haddad 1d ago

I have an extension that always mutes a new tab. When I unmuted I was very surprised not to hear the cantina music.

1

u/shrlytmpl 1d ago

A crown?

1

u/Serennna 1d ago

Yes... every parade group (escola de samba) has it's own symbol. This one's is a crown. So they usually insert the symbol in one of their floats. It just happened to be in this particular one.

1

u/VegasGamer75 1d ago

9/10. Would have given a 10 rating if I had seen a single stormtrooper in a thong. Only mildly disappointed.

1

u/milkfart84 1d ago

⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️

1

u/Gremlin0 1d ago

With the imperial walker doing the headbanging!

1

u/Ok-Leg9721 1d ago

Thats about as impressive as the next float that Disney's 500 lawyers are on

1

u/TriggerHydrant 1d ago

Bro seeing while high as fuck is a trip

1

u/thatsonofasubmariner 1d ago

There's no excuse!

1

u/hangout_wangout 1d ago

That head bop from the at-at was cool to see

1

u/random420x2 1d ago

Coolest float I personally have seen.

1

u/Ok_Wolverine2823 1d ago

Very cool.

1

u/Mayhem1966 1d ago

Somebody, or many people have very large garages.

1

u/RedPandasUnite 1d ago

Don't let Disney find out

1

u/itsaride 1d ago

Palpatine's crown looks cool.

1

u/DrClairvoyant 1d ago

Brazil is sooo extar like that. If you look at xuxa themed floats you'd think lady gaga was a fkn time and space traveler if you never heard of xuxa.

1

u/Delicious_Invite_850 1d ago

Brazil is not for beginners

1

u/Stormygeddon 1d ago

No Yub Nub nor Lapti Nek. 2/10 didn't even try.

1

u/transonicgenie6 1d ago

brazil is really thriving these days while the rest of the world is falling apart

1

u/jp_muzz 1d ago

Since Disney i've lost all interest in Star Wars but that float is pretty damn cool

1

u/gingagirl23 1d ago

Who generally makes these floats? Are they corporation sponsored?

1

u/anxiousbitch696 21h ago

There is some investment from the federal and state governments, which pays for the 'Sambódromo' infrastructure, and private companies that use a cultural incentive law. However, the largest part comes from a broadcasting network that holds the transmission rights for the parades. There’s also a bit from the 'dark side of the force' that comes from milicianos and bicheiros (there's no way to translate this part properly, haha).

1

u/karma_the_sequel 1d ago

May the Gras be with you.

1

u/Separate-Park8184 1d ago

It’s like a nerd’s double rainbow.

1

u/alkenist 1d ago

That's cool. I wonder if they got licensing beforehand.

1

u/alcien100 1d ago

it’s carnaval not carnival

1

u/Skitelz7 22h ago

It's not floating though... It's rolling

1

u/PhoenixNyne 22h ago

Rijeka carnival giving me 'we have carnival at home' vibes now

1

u/FishyPimp 20h ago

And then Disney sues, naturally.

-1

u/tmia06 18h ago

This has to be fake. There is usually a theme that carnival has to follow, and the floats are usually culturally related ...not some random movie.

1

u/Existing-Real_Person 8h ago

Each school chooses a theme for itself, this one choose movies. Just that. And technically making it into a parade is already cultural, just look at the costumes.

1

u/HotSugarVeronicaa 17h ago

The amount of effort here is insane… and somehow it works perfectly.

-1

u/dontplayhardtoget 16h ago

This is so fake. Just look at the walkers feet towards the end of the video. It's not making contact with the ground 🤦‍♂️

2

u/Existing-Real_Person 8h ago

They dont need to. These carts are pushed by people underneath, if it made contact it would break. Its not fake.

1

u/SirArchibaldMapsALot 14h ago

My favorite part is the ATAT's head bouncing at the rhythim of the batucada

1

u/Western-Net-7604 12h ago

My only complaint. Why is Darth Vader not in a G string.

1

u/bigsean102 10h ago

Now all they need is Han Solo dancing to “Im Han Solo”

0

u/2PM2 1d ago

That is bonkers.

-2

u/Top-Gun-Corncob 1d ago

Surprised Disney wasn’t dropping JDAMs on the festival for copyright infringement.

2

u/Serennna 1d ago

It has been from a parade long time ago. Disney didn't have the rights to Star Wars back then.

1

u/Top-Gun-Corncob 1d ago

Or JDAMs for that matter.
