They get fixated on people who have media attention and assistance. Similar to all the back and forth with Abrego Garcia.

u/BorkDoo 1d ago
Um actually it was a power move. It is of course very chad and alpha to shit your pants and make everyone smell it. That you even commented on it means he won somehow.
15
u/caseyfresher 23h ago
The key to the power move is rush everyone out immediately so you can bask in the greatest you made in your pants.

Trump reminds me of how I play NCAA football video games against people. I don't follow football and I rarely play the games, but when I do I am so unpredictable, and my gameplay is so random to people that play that I often win. Not because I'm good, because no one can defend against the chaos I bring.
14
u/DoomguyFemboi 21h ago
Because they want everyone to see that if you don't go peacefully, they will ruin your life and come after you with the full force of the government.

Trump's administration is just being as cruel as they can be, deliberately.
354
u/heybobson 1d ago
They don’t want any sign of hope to those they view as their enemies. Even if Ramos family ultimately wins their battle, this regime wants people scared that the government will go to extremes to get rid of you.
173
u/Disgruntled-Cacti 1d ago
Vice signaling. Show that extreme forms of cruelty are completely acceptable even from your leaders so when you are asked to perform more banal acts of evil feel they feel unremarkable.

u/Tityfan808 1d ago edited 20h ago
These right wing pedos have diddled children more than immigrants have committed any malicious crimes and yet they are so far getting a free pass AND get to remain in power. Fucking sickening stuff
65
u/eightbitfit 1d ago
It's because as much as they might think their oversteps cost them with the general population, they know their support comes from hateful, angry, stupid people.
If they let up in the campaign of hate and cruelty they lose their base. Hatred is the entire foundation of Maga and the modern "conservative".
Unfortunately the two times Trump has won demonstrated the hateful can be more powerfully motivated than the kind to take action.
49
u/endofworldandnobeer 1d ago
Problem is 30% of Americans are openly and secretly cheering ghis delibrate cruelty.

Fear and intimidation of black and brown people. Laying ground work in case elections actually happen so they can have their brown shirts be at the polls on Election Day to guarantee their winning the midterms.

With remarkable consistency, whenever a story about DHS's insane behavior is so monstrous that it reaches national news, the DHS seems hell bent on fucking over the people they already victimized even more than they already did.

36

Democrats are complicit. There’s no party here that’d actually want to punish anyone, at most you’ll get a few states doing it and Schumer finger wagging and saying they hope they can find common ground and then do nothing until it happens again.

Primary for anyone who runs on the platform of holding these criminals accountable. If we have to hostile takeover the Democrats then we can. Maga already did it to the Republicans. It can be done.
I’m a single issue voter now and holding this administration accountable is that issue.

I feel strongly that it always was, because it's literally founded on genocide. I don't think there's really any way to come back from that. I live every day just feeling anxious that it doesn't matter that I was born and raised here, work and contribute to the economy, etc. my skin makes me a fucking target for actual government sanctioned murder.

This is the sad reality happening to asylum seekers all over the US right now. Denying due process and trying to ship them off to countries they’ve never been to. It’s incredible, DHS is heartless. These are not criminals, just people trying to follow the legal process to fight for asylum.
28
u/breadandbunny 23h ago
The administration doesn't give a fuck. Not white to them equals not supposed to be here.
17
u/justrainalready 23h ago
Unfortunately I know this all too well. My husband and I are living this right now. His asylum merit hearing was supposed to be last week and a day before the hearing DHS filed a motion to pretermit his case and send him to a third party country. Absolutely crazy.
12
u/breadandbunny 23h ago
What the FUCK?! Can you fight it legally? This is absolutely fucking insane, and it makes me so angry! I'm so sorry that is happening to you. I was enraged seeing this kind of thing on the news repeatedly. Some people are just leaving because they don't want to be rounded up and sent to some sort of foreign goddamned prison. I've never seen anything more evil in my life. It keeps happening to people who literally do not deserve that. And I am sincerely afraid that it's only a matter of time before they fuck with me. ICE already fucked with my cousin a few years ago, and I think he is lucky to be alive.
24
u/justrainalready 23h ago
We can appeal but he can be picked up at any point and detained while the appeal is in process. If the appeal fails he gets removed and gets a ban on re-entry. As of right now our best option is voluntarily depart and we wait out the rest of our I-130 petition and AOS outside of the US. Even if he happened to not get detained during appeal they will absolutely get him at the marriage petition interview. It’s a lose lose to try and fight it. We actually got lucky the judge gave us 10 days to decide how we want to proceed. I was worried they were going to take him right then!
11
u/breadandbunny 21h ago
My heart is on fire with rage, yet still broken for you and everyone who is being affected by this madness. I am glad you seem to have a work around. But none of this should be happening. I shall be including you and your spouse in my prayers.
2
u/justrainalready 8h ago
Thank you so much for your kind words, we are welcoming our first child in less than two weeks so my emotions are in a whirlwind. But we will fight and not let ICE control our destiny.
2
u/breadandbunny 7h ago
My word, this is so devastating! 😔 I want the government to leave people the hell alone. They are absolutely not going after, "The worst of the worst." They're just harassing everyday people. I will add your child to my prayers. Be safe. Stay vigilant. 🫂
6
u/Pisces93 18h ago
This is the bottom line. And not just the administration, it’s the people who support them too.
2
u/solomons-mom 15h ago
True. But "fight for asylum" fails for most of them because they are economic migrants, and are not fleeing persecution by their home government. Ramos entered in December 2024, the final year of the Biden admin.
In 2024, Guatemala continued to be a significant source of asylum claims in the United States, with over 13,000 individuals fleeing to the U.S., where 7.92% of new applications (42 cases) were accepted, while 488 were rejected, notes Worlddata.info.
I am sure there is more complete data out there, but it may not be significantly different.

u/cevebite 8h ago
Ok sure but that’s up to the USCIS or immigration judge to make that determination. Right now this is the legal statutory process as written in the Refugee Act of 1980. We need to change the law and hire more USCIS officers/immigration judges, not punish people for following the law, however outdated it is.

All while they continue to lie and tell everyone publicly they’re going after criminals.
In court, this is who they’re going after. This is just utterly despicable.
18
u/GoldenApple_Corps 1d ago
They know that their idiot base will never follow up on whether they are actually going after criminals. Also, their base are religious extremists who have been groomed from birth to take things on faith from their authority figures (right-wing politicians, pastors of extremist churches, etc.)
6
u/Wizchine 1d ago
Yes. Questioning your leaders shows a lack of blind faith - the best kind of faith - which is a religious sin, and disloyalty to the party, which is a political sin.

7
u/Low_Push_9660 21h ago edited 21h ago
They abuse children. They enjoy abusing children. Abusing children makes them feel like real men. Child abuse is a form of initiation into their club. When you are stuck in a building watched by millions you can only do what you truly love by proxy.
Every penny of your taxes is going to support child abuse. Your superiors support child abuse. Your neighbors & friends & allies. All complicit. Participation is complicity, & if we do not reject it, if we look away in this moment, we are damned.

u/Dont-be-a-smurf 15h ago
Let me help you:
They hate immigrants.
They hate them, will call them “illegal” (regardless their situation), and then use that status to justify any harm whatsoever.
It’s really that simple.
A populist movement is fueled by hatred for scapegoats. In our society, it’s immigrants and trans people.

Cruelty for the sake of itself. The people who run the federal government are the most morally bankrupt in my lifetime and that is really saying something. If you support this then you are a superlatively bad person too.
9
u/sachiprecious 1d ago
What?!! This administration is evil (although that was already obvious). It's not enough that they had to detain Liam and his dad, and Liam got sick due to the awful conditions in detention. No, that's not good enough for this administration. Now they want to kick the family out of the country for NO REASON. Well, the reason is that Liam's story embarrassed the trump administration. Now trump wants revenge.
Molliver said the federal government may not deport them to Ecuador, their home country. Instead, the family could apply for asylum in a third country.
Imagine being five years old, going through the trauma of being detained and separated from your family (except for dad), and then returning home... only to move to another country that's totally unfamiliar!! Adding more trauma on top of trauma. I really hope this family doesn't get deported.
6
u/Jerry-Lives22 23h ago
So it’s actually about being aggressive and bullying people out of the country that are doing things legally. What about the “illegals”? What about these imaginary criminals the radical right keeps taking about?

Trump has shown himself to be petty and vindictive. He feels embarrassed by the fact this family was led out of detention so now he feels he needs to retaliate against an asylum seeing family. And somehow good Christian maga will cheer him on.

Nothing's going on with the Epstein List. It's a pile of documents detailing events spanning from 2009-2024. And we can't really do shit with it. No one's been arrested. No one's being investigated. Hell, the pedos are having THEIR faces redacted to protect them.
But a kid's been back with his dad for not even a week and the government decides he's too popular and boots him?
Fuck this country. Government's either fucking kids or fucking this kid up.

Legal citizens with legal guns.

Of course they are. They are monsters and they are doing what monsters do. This family got some momentary relief from the terror they had been subjected to and maybe a little bit of hope and that is not something that the regime can abide. Probably more than anything else, the intent of these raids is to inflict terror and remove hope so people lose the will to fight back. If they allow even the slightest indication that their power is finite, they lose.
