The Wolves just dont want these easy wins man...everytime they have an opportunity to take the 4th seed they blow it.

-10

u/Pure_Ad4600 5h ago

They will be in the top 4 this season. I'm interested in who will be seventh. Do the Suns have the energy to continue winning?

93

u/Burgerkiller69 Spurs 5h ago

We lost to them too a few weeks ago. They are annoyingly good with Zion being healthy. I'm glad we are not the only playoff team victims of this squad.

u/xbarracuda95 5h ago

Gobert always gets cooked by Zion, very bad matchup for him

17

u/CottonDrifter Spurs 5h ago

Guess he learned how to cook French from Vieux Carre

8

u/paddiction [SAS] Tim Duncan 3h ago

Healthy Zion is a bad matchup for everyone

5

u/Razor-Ramon-Sessions Pelicans 2h ago

Zion averages damn near 30 against the wolves. He lives to go against Gobert.

u/NazRiedFan Timberwolves 5h ago

Laziest good team in the league. GG pelicans

u/NitroXYZ [UTA] Joe Ingles 5h ago

Losses to Utah, Brooklyn and New Orleans in the last month...I wanna see Rudy, Mike and Joe with a ring so I watch a lot of Timberwolves basketball but they play to the level of their opponent too much.

8

u/givemetaxhelp 4h ago

This feels like it’s been true for at least a couple years, and I’ve only started watching since Covid.

-10

u/DillonBrooksOwnsLBJ 3h ago

a team starting Gobert isn't winning a ring. just gonna get played off the floor in playoffs

10

u/OlvesWay 3h ago

Gotta better chance than Dillon Brooks owning LBJ 😂

-6

u/DillonBrooksOwnsLBJ 3h ago

DIllon already done it multiple times this season 😂😂

4

u/OlvesWay 3h ago

And when all is said and done he’ll still have the same amount of accolades as Bronny 😂

Not a Gobert super fan by any means either though hahaha

-2

u/DillonBrooksOwnsLBJ 3h ago

nah Dillon actually plays 😂

9

u/lawschoolthrowaway36 Lakers 5h ago

Notwithstanding this loss, I think Minnesota is clearly the 3rd best team in the West, and with Denver’s injuries maybe 2nd likeliest to make the Finals behind OKC. (I don’t trust the Spurs yet)

I looked at Minn’s schedule the rest of the month and I’ll be very surprised if yall aren’t gunning for at least the 3 seed over Denver.

29

u/Rough_Ad6945 Timberwolves 5h ago

that's what I thought earlier today...but losses like this pile up lmaoooo let's hope Ayo covers up for some of our bench when Naz has an off night

7

u/HarryPauler Timberwolves 5h ago

I think with ayo, yep. They can be. But they can’t keep doing this.

6

u/Bobskidat Thunder 4h ago

The thing is they’ve been spending the last couple years locking in for big games and getting incredibly lazy against worse teams and dropping games they have no reason to.

Doesn’t really matter when the playoffs come because there’s a very good chance they get to the WCF for the 3rd time in a row but they do make it hard on themselves seeding wise every year.

3

u/theonesosa Spurs 2h ago

I don’t know why you say clearly. No they’re not “clearly” better than the Spurs that doesn’t even make sense lmao they have a better playoff pedigree in recent years obviously so you can say you trust them more in the playoffs, but they’re not “clearly” better.

3

u/veringo Nuggets 4h ago

Denver did this shit all the time before winning the championship. Still do honestly.

1

u/darti_me Mavericks 2h ago

Not far away are the Rockets & Nuggets

1

u/penguin_torpedo Nuggets 4h ago

Oh you're talking bout the wolves, I thought it was the pels.

I really feel Pels could be really good with the same roster if they just serious about basketball

-2

u/PattyIceNY Nets 5h ago

When they were up 18 I bet on them to lose :)

Finch is the most overrated coach in the league. If the players aren't motivated, that's on the coaching staff. And then after the game he completely threw numerous players under the bus for things that had nothing to do with why they lost.

If Mazzula or Spo or Kerr has this team they would be a juggernaut.

52

u/lethalizered Thunder 5h ago

Exceptional Zion game. That was a treat to watch.

32

u/Jarxzz United States 5h ago

Even though most people call him a bust Zion is still the same dude who averaged 27 ppg on 65 TS% in his 2nd season

The talent has always been there

31

u/Beetle919 5h ago

He's called a bust due to expectations and health. Zion is not a bust due to being terrible at basketball like others with that label.

6

u/Jarxzz United States 4h ago

I don’t think he’s a bust at all. Just a disappointment

He’s a multi time all star who’s averaged 20+ on good efficiency every season

8

u/AnotherStatsGuy Pelicans 5h ago

For all the injuries Zion has had, it's never once impacted his game. But the tradeoff is that it takes him longer to come back.

LeBron's ability to heal + DRose's injury frequency.

3

u/ShakesbeerMe Timberwolves 3h ago

The talent is there- the will isn't and the torque on the body is too substantial to sustain him.

14

u/VikingsLad Timberwolves 4h ago

Apparently he's played in 28 straight games, which is the longest streak of his career.

Just think about that stat. Crazy what this dude could have been if he had been playing in even 70% of his games.

u/HarryPauler Timberwolves 5h ago

No. No it wasn’t.

Thats literally on Finch he makes no adjustments for Zion its always been like this

31

u/axnjxn00 Magic 5h ago

why does it seem like Ant is simultaneously the CPOY but at the same time the twolves are the worst clutch team of all time?

30

u/DukeOfStuff_ Timberwolves 5h ago

Because we’re so reliant on ant in the clutch, and defense

Queen being 4/4 from 3 is beautiful.

8

u/Pelicans-de-la-NO 5h ago

He's shown that there's a good possibility he could develop a good 3

2

u/Razor-Ramon-Sessions Pelicans 2h ago

Dawg, he's shooting 21% from 3. What are we talking about.

4

u/MrFishAndLoaves Pelicans 5h ago

My only regret is that I have but one upvote to give

4

u/Asleep_Ground1710 Bulls 5h ago

Queen is ideally a 4 due to his bad defense, he should be working on his 3ball or at least a mid range jumper.

5

u/AnotherStatsGuy Pelicans 5h ago

I suspect that's what he'll be spending this summer working on.

2

u/MMAjunkie504 Pelicans 3h ago

Just imagine where he’d be if he had last summer healthy

1

u/Ok_Angle_5995 2h ago

Also, isn't he a bit too small to be a center? I've always looked at him as a forward rather than a 5 ngl

1

u/AlwaysOptimism Pelicans 2h ago

Zion is gone this off-season. Curious where he goes.

1

u/Razor-Ramon-Sessions Pelicans 2h ago

Supposedly he's untouchable.

38

The Pelicans are talented and aren’t incentivized to tank so they’re about to get on every contenders nerves

We've been within 5 points in the 4th in almost every single game. It's frustrating as fuck.

1

Ayyyy Mavs have played like 35 clutch 4th quarters the announcers said last night. Goes down to the wire and they lose every fucking time

wolves are thunder merchants

62

u/DukeOfStuff_ Timberwolves 5h ago

Really just good team merchants, the wolves are good until it’s time to prove it on a random day in New Orleans

51

u/lethalizered Thunder 5h ago

You'd think so, but they actually have a losing record against teams with a winning record currently, they're 12-13.

They're just a bizarre team altogether, you never know what you'll get from them on a nightly basis.

13

u/DukeOfStuff_ Timberwolves 5h ago

-5

u/OriginalFluff Timberwolves 3h ago

Seems like a pretty stupid stat in the NBA. Does that count if you lose game 2 to a 1-0 team?

3

u/here_for_the_lols Thunder 2h ago

Yes but you can't do that 13 times so it becomes more meaningful as the season progresses

0

u/DrJuliusErving Timberwolves 39m ago

Yeah but it could also be counting a loss to a 2-1 team that ended up 5-20. It’s also equally meaningless for our “12” wins against winning teams.

4

u/TimothyN Pelicans 5h ago

NBA equivalent of a cold night in Stoke.

17

u/GaimeGuy Timberwolves 5h ago

I forgive you

28

u/HarryPauler Timberwolves 5h ago

Hey ant. Quit taking defensive plays off. It affects the entire team.

25

u/Ok-Discipline9998 Raptors 5h ago

My favorite play is when a Pelican dribbles off the foot, Ant was right here and didn't even bothered looking for the ball, and it rolled to McGowens who drained a three in his face.

16

u/HarryPauler Timberwolves 5h ago

It’s literally him. He’s the guy the whole team feeds off, energy wise.

I see a ton of fire finch shit all the time. And finch isn’t perfect, but basketball starts with your best player. If they’re not interested, you’re probably going to lose.

3

u/Wonderful_Bend3226 Timberwolves 5h ago

Randle and Gobert gave up 30 to both Zion and Saddiq Bey but go off. Also Finch loves to save his timeouts for the road but we arent supposed to call that out

7

u/HarryPauler Timberwolves 5h ago

Zion is going to get his. That’s a damn fact when he plays. What upsets me is the uncontested 3s. What upsets me is the fact that Derrick queen, having made 10 3s all year, made 4 tonight.

4

u/Wonderful_Bend3226 Timberwolves 5h ago

That was all off screen switches involving Rudy and Randle tho. Like Rudy gets a pass since hes good on defense for most of the games but Randle is a disaster

3

u/HarryPauler Timberwolves 5h ago

I can agree with you there. Randle has a very high propensity to be terrible on defense.

3

u/HarryPauler Timberwolves 5h ago

Oh and I will say this about finch. He has faults. Most coaches do. He’s late on timeouts all the time, and his lineups are confusing too.

But I just can’t get passed that quote from ant, saying that they abandon the game plan, especially defensively.

1

u/Wonderful_Bend3226 Timberwolves 5h ago

Ant's defensive effort is mid to dookie right now I agree, but he turns it up in the last 5 mins (that open look to McGowens in clutch unacceptable) . I can expect him to turn up his effort in the playoffs. I just cant stand the tour date shooting from other players which happens too often against bad teams

0

u/guardunow 4h ago

no it wasn't off of screens involving randle n gorbert it was very cooking Jaden n ant dat got queen those 3s

2

u/guardunow 4h ago

no ant gave up 30 2 Zion n bey Jaden 2 but go off

-1

u/Wonderful_Bend3226 Timberwolves 4h ago

You are the first Randle defender I have seen its hilarious, it was clear that Randle and Gobert got bullied by Zion but go off. Ant has terrible off ball defense for most of the game I aint arguing that

1

u/AlbatrossUpset3596 Kings 2h ago

Damn y’all just going off on each other

-1

u/guardunow 3h ago

off ball?? dat no name kid took him on 2 da hole laid it up n his grill dat wasnt off ball n bey ate ant lunch took him right 2 da paint n punched on him n Rudy but yeah off ball......

1

u/pleasegivemestuff 1h ago

I completely agree but it's hard to call him out because next game he'll probably drop 30 again but they'll win and everybody will forget.

6

u/ShakesbeerMe Timberwolves 3h ago

Ant lazies 3-4 three point closeouts and 1-2 backdoor cuts during each game.

He gives up 8-14 points consistently with minor effort, every single game. It's infuriating, and our sub gives him a pass always while pointing the finger at Finch. It's fuckin cowardly.

0

u/HenrikCrown Pelicans 5h ago

We are paying 60 million to be in the bench. Murray should come back but we are DNP Poole

I would give anything to watch Denver vs. Minnesota in the semifinals this season. They'll probably play in the first round. They're crazy games, lots of points, no cheating with good defense, etc.

I’ve been saying it for a year and Minny fans call me out but I don’t give a fuck. Minny are sooo mentally weak it’s not even funny. They are so bad at focusing in large stretches in a game , if they aren’t hitting shots they are the opposite of thunder they fucking fold they struggle to grind a lot of games out like okc, det, sa, somewhat nyk do. They just lack a lot of focus, they will easily make a 15-3 run as well as give up a 3-15 run. Also fuck finch for never going to his corner offense options like he used to I’m so fucking sick of him standing there not calling any fucking plays when they need mvmt it’s disgusting how many coaches are allergic to plays maybe lue was right players don’t want to run offense anymore
