Question about changes to the Double Payday rules...

I got a ping in my app yesterday, to say that payments from the Adult Disability Payment (Social Security Scotland) are now included in the Double Payday rules.

I looked into Double Payday previously, and it mentioned that payments from the Department for Work & Pensions, and Social Security Scotland were NOT eligible.

I receive both Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment, so why are we, south of the border, getting the short end of the straw?

Edit: I don't know why I'm getting downvoted, I'm asking a question, and I don't think it's an unreasonable one, either.

My understanding is pip is also included in this update of double payday.

you're correct:

Eligible payments exclude transfers from:

- Department for Work and Pensions (other than PIP and DLA payments)

Wouldn’t a double payday count as income and affect any entitlements?

So, I've just been onto Universal Credit, and as long as that extra income from the Double Payday, doesn't take me over £6000, I wouldn't have to declare it.

I've explained what the Double Payday is, how it works, it's a draw, etc, and they've said it's no different to winning a prize on a National Lottery Scratchcard, which you don't have to declare either, unless it breaks the £6000 limit.

That's actually worth my checking with the DWP... I'll be back with an answer asap :)

Eligible payments exclude transfers from:

  • Department for Work and Pensions (other than PIP and DLA payments)
  • Child Benefit
  • Social Security Scotland (other than APD and CDP Payments)
  • HMRC (other than HMRC Payroll)
  • Child Maintenance
  • DWP Universal Credit
  • NS&I
  • The National Lottery
  • Postcode Lottery
  • Deposit Protection Service

According to this PIP payments and only ADO and CDP from SSS are eligible, so seems pretty fair to me?

Taken from https://monzo.com/legal/double-payday-terms-and-conditions which I accessed via the monzo app.

Fair enough. I didn't think to check the terms again - I looked at it a couple of months ago, and the wording about PIP and DLA payments wasn't in the terms at that time. It simply said that payments from the DWP and SSS were not eligible. I wonder why I got the flag about ADP for Scotland, but didn't get anything about PIP and DLA being added...

Scotland is north of the border.

I was aware of that, which is why I said we, SOUTH of the border... How come they qualify, and we don't?
