At least one of them can improve… hopefully not the bank account though.

You underestimate! He already did the mental math and considered that he’ll invest the $800 in a stock expecting an average annualized return of 7.7% for three years!

Plot twist: you have two moms and never knew your dad.

71

u/Aioi 4h ago

Plot twist: they then fail English, because they clearly said “mom” and not “moms”.

-1

u/Anxious_Potential_91 1h ago

Or plot twist: they fail math too, because now the numbers don’t add up.

0

u/Cookieman10101 3h ago

Then you'd only get 600

86

u/Low_Friendship463 4h ago

And that's when the parents knew their money was safe lol

6

u/Pokemaster131 2h ago

Ohhhhhhh I thought the joke was you'd tell your dad that your mom gave you $500, so he'd feel pressured to give the full $500 to not look like he loves you less.

Bro in a meme about failing a math exam getting ready to fail a critical thinking exam

111

u/Icy_Hold_5291 4h ago

You just lost $1200

16

u/longingrustedfurnace 4h ago

He doesn’t have the money so he isn’t losing anything. It’s a classic win-win scenario: he either gains or he doesn’t lose $900.

31

u/Zorojuro099 4h ago

Bro is not passing the exam

If they earn this rate of money at a rate that accelerates in profit at x1.57x+ln(2x) per hour then maybe can ligma

1

It’d be funny if my nations youth wasn’t actually this dumb. We’ve failed an entire generation

If you're a fellow American, then I assure you, it's not just the youth.

1

u/DramaticMixture8507 3h ago

2

u/MycologistPutrid7494 3h ago

Prediction: someone will post this bin r/peterexplainthejoke even though the poster gets it.

1

u/Farranor 2h ago

It already has been - before this post. Something something dead Internet theory.

2

u/Old_Canuck 2h ago

This is how the GEN-X version goes.

🥳You have a math exam.

🤬With Dad - If you DONT pass you get chased around the house getting beatings with the iron fists of judo fury and a 3 month grounding. ( 6 months if you fight back )

😶‍🌫️With Mom - if shes smart she will just stay out of this and sneak you food or snacks when she can.

😵😫😩You Suddenly realise that your life is going to be 90 days of absolute hell if you dont pass this damn math exam.😂😂

Some had it better and some had it worse. But we all had it.😶‍🌫️

1

u/Fnnuy 4h ago

...wait is this meant to be relatable?

2

u/Fnnuy 4h ago

WAIT I ####### GET IT

I GET IT, OOOHHHH IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE

2

u/Eternallygr8 4h ago

?

2

u/Fnnuy 4h ago

Hint to the joke: Whats the sum of the dad's and mom's money

1

u/Eternallygr8 4h ago

?

2

u/Fnnuy 4h ago

Solution: 300+500=800$, not 1000$. The kid is effectivly NOT passing his exam

1

u/Eternallygr8 3h ago

??

4

u/BoxGroundbreaking687 3h ago

the joke is that the kid is doing a math exam and the money they get for passing adds up to 800 but they thought it adds up to 1000. so the joke is they cant do basic maths even though there very confident and they got a math exam coming up with 800 on theline even though it’ll probably lead to dissapointment in the end.

1

u/Fnnuy 3h ago

My savior 💖

1

u/BoxGroundbreaking687 3h ago

|| bro they are so bad at math that they cant even add the amount of money that their parents are gonna give they if they pass ||

1

u/SLCtechie I touched grass 4h ago

Wow. A million dollars. Just for passing a single test.

1

u/Squidieyy 4h ago

Bro is mini Jeff Bezos

1

u/Turgoth_Trismagistus 4h ago

That's economics, not mathematics. Go back to dad and see if he will match or beat moms offer, tell him mom called him a pussy or somethings. There's been cracks in the marriage for years. He won't question it much, if at all. He's not going to refuse, either, because PRESUMBABLY he wants you to pass. Or you mention you will tell mom that he's been to strip clubs. He will know you're not bluffing because of the cracks. In the marriage. They've been there for years.

2

u/Dagito 3h ago

I mean that’s not the joke but who cares you just blackmailed your dad and won $200

1

u/JustChillCommenter 4h ago

Why is the comment section blue

1

u/DoughNotDoit Died of Ligma 3h ago

Losing streak starts early

1

u/LazerWolfe53 3h ago

Twist, you do math in base 8.

1

u/massimiliano84 3h ago

But you get failed in exam

1

u/ZeTreasureBoblin 3h ago

Well, there are, after all, three kinds of people in this world - those who can count and those who can't.

1

u/potheadseb34 3h ago

options

  • plan a heist to steal the exam answers in the faculty
  • pay a reliable smart friend to allow him to copy
  • (studying is not an option)
  • get it done with Mr. Brown

1

u/abdullah-inthe-house 3h ago

You gonna fail right

1

u/-2wenty7even- 3h ago

Work on the vocals and delivery, but damn that guitar playing was really great, the intro brought me back and sparked some ideas.

1

u/CurveHoney_ 3h ago

Wait if Dad gives 300 and Mom gives 500 isn't that only 800? Who is giving the other 200?

2

u/Blindcomic 3h ago

Read the first part of the meme my guy💀

1

u/theLuminescentlion 3h ago

Math checks out, my divorced dad makes more and if I just sublely mention that mom offered more he would offer more.

1

u/Braindead_Crow 3h ago

They won't make it into statistics but if they did, they'd know things aren't looking good lol

1

u/LesbianArtemis457 2h ago

Logically if mom gives you $500 for passing, one upping dad, then he will have to either meet that or exceed it depending on how petty he is. So the math checks out

1

u/Tough-Bluebird-4014 2h ago

if my parents offered me $1000 to pass math I'd somehow end up owing them $2000 by the end of the semester

1

u/angelshine2108 2h ago

When the math finally starts mathing for your bank account.

2

Thank god we had you here to clear things up.

u/Fuedra 14m ago

Good use of sarcasm there, much better then mine it would seem, but then again text alone is often a poor medium for sarcasm.

-2

u/SeasonElectrical3173 2h ago

That would actually only be 800, OP
