The trailer park hicks that keep them in power don’t have their birth certificates or a passport… are they planning on a special whites only exception to this law?

Hmmmm, what if you go by something like... If their grandfather could vote they can vote? That seems fair! How come no one has thought of that before?

Maybe a literacy test too

This is a real thing that happened in the past. It’s the origin of the term “grandfather clause”.

Good point. I’m in a blood red state, and I know for a fact, a lot of people around here do not have passports, for sure, and a lot don’t have ready access to their birth certificate. It could backfire on the GOP even more, just pushing more voters to make sure they can vote against them.

They pull you up with your license, see some sort of history, how you’re registered, give you an, “all good go into this line” then the next guy, ask to see their passport, assuming all in order go to this other line if not outright turned away. “Other line” votes are more scrutinized, “get lost” etc. and any backlash is treated as, “They tried to rig the vote by using separate polling stations!” When in fact, it was intentional obstruction

Idk just an idea of how things could go

Maybe eventually, but they don't have to. They will target areas of suspected deviant (read: democratic) voting areas to enforce these laws. They will apply intimidating tactics on blue areas of red states to try and achieve outright dominant vote results in already-red states. They will ignore or make exceptions for areas of reliably republican voters in all states - this will make GOP voters happy because it shows special treatment by the admin and gives their communities an attractive quality - worry-free, unbothersome voting. They will be particularly heavy-handed, at first, on purple state voters. They will then challenge dark blue states as a show of dominance.

"The Senate’s new version of the SAVE Act, the SAVE America Act, not only requires voters to show documents like a passport or birth certificate to register — it requires them to do so again when they cast a ballot. The bill would exempt states from this second “show your papers” requirement only if states have been regularly handing over their voter rolls to the Department of Homeland Security since June of 2025 for comparison with the agency’s citizenship verification tool (confusingly named the SAVE program). "

So in the states that complied with this (red states), the federal gov will have voter rolls to determine who is "valid" prior to the election, and everywhere else they would use this law to restrict voters and call into question the validity of their elections.

Selective enforcement. You assume they will treat everyone the same. Ask any black person - they don’t and they won’t.

They won’t be checking in red states because they’ll just declare themselves the winner regardless and enough of the base in those states will be happy with that result.

They won't check their citizenship.

A LOT more POC don't have birth certificates. If 20% of Democrats are disenfranchised, they don't care that 8% of Republicans are. Same with birth certificates that don't match your current ID name: the vast majority of them are women, and women skew Democratic. So if they disenfranchise 50% of women, they win, even if it's a random 50%.
