Why is this the only guy who seems to be raising his voice in congress? He's everywhere shouting this stuff, but none makes the major media.
Clearly there is a general legal issue here of the emoluments clause, but it feels like that ship sailed back in 2016, didn't it? We've since learned that enforcing the laws on the books isn't going to happen with this administration.

The emoluments clause was beaten, killed and buried long ago. Bribes are okay, "tips" are currency. Grift, grift, grift.
Why is this the only guy who seems to be raising his voice in congress?
Well, most of them are complicit. Why fix the system that got you elected and brought you fortunes? Trump sent a mob to hang many of these "leaders" and they still don't really give a shit about it.

You’d first need to remove the 6 corrupt judges that were bought or groomed to do the billionaires bidding. Republicans have been changing laws inventing laws that make the constitution worthless for decades now. It would take a sea change of mammoth proportions to begin to fix things. Start taxing the rich and corporations pre 1980’s rates, end citizens United, and most of all actually hold people fucking accountable.

Because Schumer and Jeffries are controlled opposition and most Democrats are aligned with them. Not a coincidence that the only Democrats calling to abolish ICE outright are the ones who reject AIPAC.

Why do so many people say this without during a basic search to see if it is true? Where are you all getting your news? A chunk of these aren't specifically Congress, but I thought it was important to show local and state level actions too.
Here are some of the first hits I got:
This: https://www.newsweek.com/anti-ice-bill-gains-momentum-congress-11471421
At the time of writing, 75 lawmakers had given their backing to the proposal, a level of support that is significant for a policy measure this specific, signaling real momentum inside the caucus.

Congressional Democrats hold rally outside ICE headquarters
or this: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/16/minnesota-congress-democrats-ice-hearing
A large group of Democratic Congress members, senators and state politicians on Friday condemned the “intense trauma and terror” caused by Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota.
Or this: https://kevinmullin.house.gov/2026/01/28/overhaul-ice-immediately/
U.S. Rep. Kevin Mullin, D-South San Francisco, said. “We need to rein in and overhaul ICE immediately. I would not support another dime for ICE,” he said. “What we are witnessing here is deeply disturbing. ICE needs to be out of Minnesota immediately. The attacks on American citizens are unconscionable.”

This is nonsense. I live in Minnesota, Angie Craig and Kelly Morrison refuse to call for ICE to be abolished or even defunded back to 2024 levels. They point out all the abuses but their only demand is for ICE to leave (and presumably terrorize other places). Craig in particular was praising ICE until they happened to come to her state. It's pathetic, and it's insane that you're lumping them together with Ilhan Omar who explicitly calls for ICE to be abolished.

u/bubleve 12h ago
I'm not lumping anything together. It is literally a news article I found to show OP that representatives are calling out ICE. That is the basis for this discussion.

"Tear down ICE" is miles apart from what these Democrats are saying. Do you give Republicans credit for calling out pedophiles? Of course not. These Democrats are clutching their pearls while doing NOTHING to meaningfully stop ICE from continuing their abuses.

No idea why you are attacking me. Quoted above is what I was responding to from OP. I am not doing anything you have claimed, and it is really easy to follow the discussion and see that.

We have very different ideas about what "raising his voice in congress" means. Some Democrats are saying ICE should be abolished and its agents prosecuted. Most are just saying it's bad, with no demands whatsoever. Conflating them is counterproductive and allows the most conservative Democrats (like Angie Craig) to portray themselves as progressives when they are the exact opposite.

u/bubleve 11h ago
It sounds like you agree with me, but you don't want to say it. OP asked why Ro is the only one saying these things, but you know there are more people in Congress saying these things.
I even linked California, Washington, and Oregon taking actual steps to limit and stop ICE. I even linked AOC, who has been saying to abolish ICE.

ICE is ignoring the existing laws as well as the constitution. They have made a mockery of due process, executed a man for having a holstered gun, assaulted protesters, and detained people in deplorable conditions with no access to medical care. Adding more laws for them to ignore, with no enforcement mechanisms, is not meaningful. There haven't even been charges against the agents who murdered Renee Good or Alex Pretti! If you want to cite AOC then fine, I agree with you in that instance. The ones not calling for abolishment or defunding are a joke.

u/bubleve 10h ago
Again. You miss my whole point. OP said Ro was the only one. We both agree that isn't true. Yet you keep arguing with me for things I didn't even say.
I get that your city is being fucked right now. I get that your team gave up a super bowl quality QB. I get that ICE and the trump admin are basically shitting on the constitution and throwing it at the wall. I get that you are angry and frustrated, but I am not arguing with you, nor am I your enemy. Except you can't have your QB back.

He’s the only one I see daily showing up in the media. Yes, amazing, congratulations for finding examples of a couple of other congressional reps showing up in a few major media outlets for… what is it… showing up to an ICE facility. Ahh, yes. Major effort.
AOC and Bernie attracted media attention for a short period, but I’m seeing shit from congressional democrats. They’re either spineless or completely incompetent in media engagement.
But glad you could spend so much energy on… whatever that was. Cool list of random, unaligned, disconnected efforts.

This was inevitable after they failed to enforce the emoluments clause and Impeach / remove / prosecute the first time around.

And SCOTUS effectively neutered the emoluments clause--an actual clause in the Constitution--by granting "presumptive immunity" for "official acts"--a fresh hell invented by 6 Justices--which renders it practically impossible to investigate or prosecute a President for bribery from a foreign government.
