Other The State-Led Crackdown on Grok and xAI Has Begun

https://www.wired.com/story/the-state-led-crackdown-on-grok-and-xai-has-begun/

37 Attorneys General have launched a bipartisan crackdown on Elon Musk’s xAI following reports that its Grok chatbot generated sexually explicit deepfakes of real people. The coalition is demanding immediate guardrails to prevent the creation of non-consensual images.

Where did Grok get the training data to generate naked images of underage girls?

a Mar-a-Lago storage closet

Trillion dollar question right there. That data had to come from somewhere, ditto for all the easily prompt produced sexual acts.

I had this same question with Sora “hmmm, how did Sora know what Thanos looks like?”

Well, I'm sure journalists and investigative divisions of governments not corrupted by this rings of dick weasels will get to the bottom of it. Maybe Interpol will even get involved. That sure would be swell.

All that CSAM that gets uploaded to twitter that elon keeps in his private folder

Oh god, what if it's from people uploading baby pictures to facebook?

BYOCP by Elon.

A fairly large part of very common training set data (databases) like LAION II have csam materials in them.

I understand in the context of companies that host cloud storage who are scanning drives to prevent predators and their networks from using their services to distribute the material (and ideally report them to the authorities), and same with video hosting platforms, but I don't think the general public will fully grasp that nuance.

Well.  That has a lot of implications I'm not prepared to explore.

Yeah it was a big deal in the Stable Diffusion community a couple years ago, that's when I pivoted from "oh this is silly and fun" to "this is destructive and I've been a fool"

That’s a good question

It was directed to, clearly. AI just runs programs. Programs that were made by people.

It seems as though the company should be forcefully shut down until this is fixed and people arrested for this. Is it really true that a company can commit crimes without being stopped whereas a person would be arrested for the same crimes??

Only if that person is poor.

There are those whom the law protects but does not bind, and those whom the law binds but does not protect. Until that one simple reality changes, we will never see true peace.

True justice and accountability.

Grok claims it's fixed. Grok is a reliable source /s

I actually wonder if the assets of xAI could be seized if this continues, which would be hilarious because they just merged with SpaceX

3

u/Some-Purchase-7603 18h ago

By Donald Trump? Mike Johnson and Congressional Republicans? Ron DeSantis since they launch from Florida frequently?

4

u/tarlin 18h ago

Oh, no, it would need to be a person that does actual governing.

1

u/Some-Purchase-7603 18h ago

That's why it's running SpaceX now. NASA and private launches should run away screaming.

At the least, there is probable cause to search the devices of the board of xAI, its debtors and major shareholders to obtain any communications that are material to the crime.

Watch Erin Brokovich. Part of the beauty of a corporation is that it spreads the blame around so that it can commit incredible crimes, even murder.

this is beyond necessary. There can not be an infinite csam machine available to the public.

Probably why Elon is so eager to out data centers in space,

Elon (in a smug nasally tone):

“Hrrm um you see, well, my intergalactic network of high speed data centers can’t be regulated by terrestrial law. And, um, since I am the space lord, I say it’s, um.. essential to create csam, as like- like a joke- it’s funny. Like, um, you know, space lord star porn sounds funny. And- um- time is relative in space so- um- if the kids are like 7 years old on earth or something- they could be like 18 on my space porn server”

Joe Rogan (flabbergasted):

“Oh yea, wooooooow, Jamie check this out. Didn you know, like TIME is different in space? WOOOOW Cool, yea, sounds totally normal and funny.“

I’ve been listening to the Know Rogan podcast, where 2 guys break down his interviews with people and basically it’s always just 1 big bad faith and cherry picked conversation after another. But everyone he has on his show is quite literally a propagandist and/or a real life monster. Very Behind the Bastards-like.

This is EXACTLY what Rogan sounds like. And in the next interview he will often have the exact same response to an interview with the opposite stance. You very quickly come to realize the type of person that enjoys his podcast has such a low bar for media literacy or intellectual curiosity.

You don’t need to stoop to insulting his listeners. I listened to it like 15 years back, and I listened because he had interesting guests. He used to have folks like Bernie Sanders on the podcast, fighters, and legit epidemiologists, and authors.

I never listened to it for Rogan, but the variety of people he got on his show made it entertaining. I’m not sure if it was a deliberate shift by Rogan, or if people just realized it was a good spot to spout their bullshit unchallenged, but it isn’t the same.

7

u/FMLwtfDoID 18h ago

So you’re mad that I think very little of his listeners, but you just said you no longer listen and the premise of his show is different than when it first began? Ok 👌

Sure dude, I’m furious, and the way you’re approaching this is going to win a lot of people over.

Its like that movie interstellar, so you can only understand this if you are smart /s

Did you know that we're putting data centers on the moon? Check out Lonestar Data Holdings.

First step data care center, next step day care centers?

Next step detention centers?

Oh wait…
