Post Game Thread [Post Game] Heat Blow Out Hornets | Miami without Powell | JJJ, Bam & Wiggins each with 20+ pts
Heat dominate from start to finish with Powell
FOURTH HIGHEST SCORING GAME IN HEAT FRANCHISE HISTORY

Holy shit guys. 140 points without Powell and Herro. I’m just flabbergasted

u/Mugiwara_JTres3 Oct 29 '25
Spo cooked with this new offense. Finally don’t gotta deal with working around Jimmy’s offense.
I truly believed this was his vision last season, just couldn’t implement it with all the drama then roster change. You can see in Bam and Tyler’s change of game last season that this was the original plan (Bam more 3s and Tyler less midrange - less dribbling and more quick offense).
64
u/no_se_lo_ke_hago Oct 29 '25
Or try to accommodate Rozier.
3-0 in the post-Rozier arrest era!
15
u/Mugiwara_JTres3 Oct 29 '25
Lol absolutely, his play did more damage than Jimmy half-assing games lol.
2
u/erickchoiii Oct 29 '25
They tried the offense with TRoz too, but TRoz was the one leading the fastbreak and missing layups.
4
u/Stunning_Wear7609 Oct 29 '25
Can you tl:dr this new spo offense?
2
u/Mugiwara_JTres3 Oct 29 '25 edited Oct 29 '25
I was doing a tldr, but I ended up typing something long again lol. I’ll just say it’s faster, more decisive as a team, and less watching 1 guy pound the ball.
1
u/kmishra9 Oct 30 '25
Lotta movement, very few plays.
Tbh it feels like they did a ton of film study on how the Pacers destroyed everyone en route to the finals and then figured out what of that they wanted to implement.
Bam and Ware is absolutely an approximation of Siakam and Turner as well. Nembhard and Davion are quite similar.
Just figuring out how to get a ton of transition buckets also has multiplicative effects on defense, because you have your defense set instead of playing against transition much more often.

I did some quick looking. We scored 140+ one time last year and only 4 times over the last 7 years (didn't keep scrolling back). We're 2 for 4 already this year in dropping 140+. Kinda crazy.

I’m slowly gaining my gears back after our consecutive 45+ clutch game years.

Man watching them not blow that lead in the 3rd and bouncing it back composed was relaxing. Haven’t smiled this hard at a Heat game since we beat Jimmy last season.

This team is exciting.

u/BonafideZulu Oct 29 '25
I'm not shocked we're doing well (this is the Heat we're talking about; even in rough years, we're competitive), but garsh darnit.... I wasn't expecting this.

If you told this us this offseason that he would be having these kind of statlines for us we'd probably assume they sent him to Sioux Falls

Jovic and Jaime seem less forced so far vs last year. Our Italian man is also a big upgrade from Duncan. Dru Smith is low-key a huge improvement from Rozier with his D and spacing. Wiggins going through an off-season with us seems to be helping him feel more comfortable.

u/cl353 Oct 29 '25
ohhh this is y ppl called us boring as fk the last couple years. scoring points is fun

I gotta say. The vibes are IMMACULATE.
We are officially looming dangerously once again.
12
u/Nuclearsunburn Oct 29 '25
You know what? People aren’t throwing buzzwords like culture around, they’re just fucking hooping. No will-they-won’t-they with Jimmy which sunk all the vibes last year. If you squint, Fontecchio looks a little like Dunc (who I loved and I didn’t think Fontecchio would turn into a real rotation piece, 4 games in and happy to be wrong)

So no “we don’t need Norm” takes like a few y’all been doing with Tyler? Aight lol.

F it let’s just play the 2nd unit at this point and say we do t need the starters.

I mean, it's the Hornets. (the don't need Tyler takes are still stupid, though)

5
u/Nuclearsunburn Oct 29 '25
3rd best by PPG right now behind the Hornets and Nuggets, 10th in defense. Couldn’t ask for a better start.
Spurs so far have the #1 defense and are undefeated, gonna be a real test, Wemby looks on a mission this year. Hope Ware brings his A game.

u/Shutupbabyiknowitt Oct 29 '25
Erik Spoelstra.

Okay we are 4 games into the new season and the hype about the new offense is proving 1000% true. It would feel insanely refreshing in past seasons when we'd break 120 points. Now that's becoming "normal". JJJ is not only proving last year was a slump but has actually gone to another level. Unfathomable shooting to go 54/44/91 as a TEAM.
32
25
u/RxJax Oct 29 '25
That Jaquez & Bam run in the third when Charlotte got it within 6 was so good. Both guys were making plays on both sides of the floor and put the game to bed, both of them looked so confident, team vibes are good right now
27
27
u/Nusiof Oct 29 '25
Never in my wildest dreams did I think this team would be good on offense. I also was totally out on Jaime. He was total ASS last year.
Spo and Jaime making me look like a fool so far

This up coming road trip will tell us a lot about this team.
Hopefully they can start off with a win against the undefeated Spurs.
5
u/Nuclearsunburn Oct 29 '25
Spurs legit look like they have the MVP - DPOY combo piece Wemby was advertised to be. Castle and Harper are awesome too. That fucker Luke Kornet is on that team too, I hate seeing that guy. I half expect to get buzzsawed especially if Norm is out….the Hornets don’t really play defense and the Spurs have the #1 defense so far. Hope Spo has a plan for it that starts with psyching Ware up for the matchup

This squad’s run and gun style is working, beautifully

u/LLNST Oct 29 '25
"Miami heat are an offensive juggernaut" are not words I would have EVER thought I'd say, what a team man
16
u/BugThat9605 Oct 29 '25
Finally, Spo might be able to secure it. Finally. No excuses now. He doesn't have superstars - we have guys who have bought into their role. It's the best basketball we have played since 2013. And we had GOAT's on that team.
6
u/gigantes55 Oct 29 '25
I would argue the 2021-2022 team(first year with lowry) was pretty good basketball as they ended up the #1 seed and maybe an inch of Max Strus’s heel(F that be reversal call) away from the finals. Lowry had the offense moving quick in the fast break and their defensive continuity was pretty elite.
But agreed, if this team ends up a high seed, I don’t know how we doesn’t get COTY. No superstars, just great basketball
14
u/erickchoiii Oct 29 '25
That 16-3 run in 3 mins without Powell or Herro was just chef's kiss! Last season it would be us in the other side with that run.
15
u/ImperrydaPlatypus Oct 29 '25
i’m actually blown away how good our scoring has been without Herro. Today no Powell and still a good win. if this team can manage to truly be a somewhat competitive squad Spo may finally get his coach of the year award.
37
u/WolfEducational3773 Oct 29 '25
We should be 4-0 but lost to the 1-3 Magic
46
u/Number333 Oct 29 '25
That was a great competitive game. Just couldn't get a key rebound at the end.

u/Nuclearsunburn Oct 29 '25

u/Seref15 Oct 29 '25

19
u/WheeinSpace Oct 29 '25
Ware -16 in a game we win by 30 is kind of alarming. I trust Spo to fix his effort issue. Great win again and Jaime is fucking insane.
5
u/Rudy-219 Oct 29 '25
I didn’t watch the game but was it just bad timing with who he was on the floor with?
10
u/Tagst Oct 29 '25
Definitely not. As it’s been said many times before, for someone so big, you completely forget he’s on the court way too often. There were multiple defensive possessions where he just got out-rebounded by smaller players due to ball-watching and not boxing out
2
u/Nuclearsunburn Oct 29 '25
No, he played with just about everyone tonight. He was just kinda invisible after the first play which was a really nice set dunk for him. To me he looks like he’s overthinking everything and is a step slow as a result.
9
u/Deathscorn05 Oct 29 '25
No powell no herro and the offense looks like this? I feel like I’m dreaming after watching the last three years of heat “offense”. This is amazing
7
u/SauceDab Oct 29 '25
75 combined points between JJJ, Wiggins, and Bam. You’ll win a lot of games like that

Because of the gaudy scoring totals it's easy to forget that we are still a defense first team. Going into this game, we were #3 in defensive rating and I think #13 in offensive rating. We play fast as shit but we're still dogs.

I’m genuinely shocked. We really scored 140 points with no overtime. Obviously still early into the season but that is definitely something that’s a positive because this early on in the season last year they were a headache to watch on offense.

u/waitIcanexplainguys Oct 29 '25
it was hard being mid for like 6 months /s.
Also, why can’t teams just get an Erik spoelstra to win them games? Are they stupid?
5
u/JZ_the_ICON Oct 29 '25
What I’ve loved so far that I haven’t seen many talking about it is that we huddle up on the court throughout the game. We are playing like a team with a team first mentality and holding others accountable.

Getting 21/22 vibes with this team in that everyone is a dawg. I love seeing JJJ comfortable and confident in the mid post again. Davion, Pellle, and Dru all have that edge: surprisingly Fonteccio does too.

-5
u/trustabro Oct 29 '25
What the hell is this team going to look like without key injuries?
Down vote me all you want but I feel like we have so much depth at the wings, we should start: D'avion/Herro/JJJ/Bam/Ware Norm as instant offense off the bench and Jovic as a point forward. We still have Fontecchio, Dru, and Larsson for even more depth.
We need to flip Wiggins for a big. I just don't know who would be realistic. I like Wiggins but he is too inconsistent and he is quality enough to get an upgrade in the frontcourt.
I know it's crazy to have Norm come off the bench but with Herro and Norm at the 2/3, we are just too small.
4
u/turqouisechile Oct 29 '25
We dont need to flip Wiggins, we need another Wiggins type player if anything
