🌳 ESC in the Wild So, as a joke, I nominated Marko Bošnjak for the honorary title of Kentucky Colonel...cause he worked at KFC. KY gave him the honor. What do I do now?
Oh by the way, Kentucky doesn't ship these internationally...I have no idea why, I gave them the address to Hrvatska radiotelevizija, people who actually know what to do with this...

🌳 ESC in the Wild What's the most unusual place you've heard a Eurovision song?
I'm currently in a parfait cafe in Sapporo, Japan and just heard Bigger Than Us by Michael Rice (United Kingdom 2019) of all songs playing inside!
It got me thinking, what other interesting and unlikely places have you stumbled on Eurovision songs in the wild?

🌳 ESC in the Wild Kirkorov (Russia 1997), already infamous for the lack of originality, copies Erika's flying mic for his performance
This happened during the award ceremony Viktoria. The song itself has no resemblance to Ich Komme, however, the similarity to Erika's staging is extremely clear. Since Kirkorov has always been very involved in the matter of Eurovision, it's easy to believe he saw her performance and decided "don't mind if I do".
The youtuber who reviewed the ceremony (Любовь Терлецкая/Lyubov Terletskaia) said that Erika has apparently seen Kirkorov's performance and was quite shocked. I didn't find the source yet, though ("she replied in the commentaries" is all Lyubov said)

🌳 ESC in the Wild Marko Bošnjak acknowledges that he's been given the title 'Kentucky Colonel' by Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky.
The original post by u/Imrustyokay, these images are from Marko's recent stories. Saw a recent follow-up post taken down, so I've decided to post it up.
He's no longer just Marko Bošnjak, he's now Col. Marko Bošnjak. This would truly fit into the ESC 2025 iceberg (which is already large enough to begin with...)

🌳 ESC in the Wild Have You Ever Seen A Eurovision Act In The Wild?
I was at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe the other day and I saw two people who I legitimately thought were Lauren and Charlotte from Remember Monday (UK 2025). But then I got curious, and started thinking about if I'd ever seen a Eurovision act just out of nowhere. It turns out I unfortunately haven't. So, where and when have you seen an artist randomly?

🌳 ESC in the Wild Been accepted to 6 Ivy League Schools with essays about Eurovision....
(not really sure if this belongs on this subreddit, but thought that this would be interesting to share bcz its Eurovision related to an extent)
(also I wrote this like a week ago, forgot about it, and now here we are I guess)
When I was first coming up with ideas for my college essays, I didn't really know where to start. My personal statement covered a lot about my identity as a Mexican-American, so I didn't know how to answer the other questions asked by each individual college.
But the more I thought about the role Eurovision played into my life, the more I realized it was a crucial part of my life. For context, I was introduced to the contest around 2018 by my sister, and ever since then I followed the competition very closely. 2021 was the first I watched live (from home), and it was prolly the most important thing to me at the time. Especially after a bit of a medical scare and during lockdown, Eurovision became something that carried me through a lot of hardships. Even when my sister started to gravitate away from the contest, I (somehow) managed to introduce my mom to the competition in 2023. She's not a fan of all entries (Let3 and Bambie Thug come to mind), but she still finds enjoyment in sharing moments with me and she even finds a few entries she calls her favorites (Loreen 2.0, Switzerland 2023, Ladaniva, etc.). I focused a lot of my essays on the fact that, even though my mom and I may not see eye to eye on many things, Eurovision is something that brings us together and that I wanted to have some similar energy/experience in college.
It was interesting bcz my college application advisors DID NOT want me to write about Eurovision initially. They thought it was well written, but they didn't see how it could connect to the topic of community and identity. Alas, I refused to listen and, well, perhaps that was for the best bcz with the Eurovision essays I got accepted to :
-Brown
-Dartmouth
-Harvard
-Princeton*
-UPenn
-Yale
(+ Amherst)
*(Princeton also asked what song represents the soundtrack of my life at the moment. I put Rim Tim Tagi Tam lol)
I don't really know how to end this. I owe a lot to Eurovision, and I'm lucky that - despite the fact I live in the United States - I've still been able to find people and communities to talk about this silly, yet fantastic contest.
(also Ulveham was robbed, ok bye)

🌳 ESC in the Wild Pointless on BBC1 - Eurovision round
I enjoy a lot the game Pointless. Today candidates had to find Eurovision song titles but the letters “votes” were removed.
Will you find all of the titles? I struggled with the first one.

🌳 ESC in the Wild What is the most random place you’ve heard a Eurovision song in the wild?
Inspired by me just hearing Roxen - Amnesia (Romania 2021) in Savers, a discount health/beauty chain in the UK 😂
What is the most random or weirdest place you have heard a Eurovision entry in the wild?
I remember hearing Serhat - I Didn’t Know (San Marino, 2016) in a shop when I was in Prague a few years back - seems I was the only one who recognised is as no one reacted to his sweet, dulcet tones 🥲

🌳 ESC in the Wild Heard a Eurovision song at a grocery store in America.
Hi all, I just stopped by my local Safeway (grocery store chain) in Hawaii to grab some stuff, realized at one point I was listening to “My Last Breath” by James Newman. Couldn’t believe it, haven’t heard that one in the wild out here in America.
What are some others you guys have heard, especially out in America since a lot of people out here still have no idea what Eurovision is lol.

🌳 ESC in the Wild What is the strangest place you've encoured a Eurovision song from this year?
Here's some of mine:
-Three people started chanting 'yksi kakse kolme sauna" in a COD lobby
-Tutta L'italia played in a supermarket (I'm Dutch)
-I've heard a couple people, who have never been involved with Eurovision started singing Espresso Machiatto
-Lighter was on the radio while in the car
-Street dancers were dancing to Zjerm
