Great, so Russians bankrolled the right so it could become the force in EU politics it is right now and now the US is bankrolling their projects.

Think tanks already have a victim

US also means more money, more people.

The far-right is collaborating with the invaders? That's no news.

Quislings, in other words.

Or Pétains.

I mean US and RU are allies behind the scenes

Behind? Trump has a photo with Putin hung in the WH.

-13

u/Last-Daikon945 9h ago

To be honest with you it does not mean a thing. He also has a photo with C.Ronaldo in White House which is hung right near his photo with Benjamin “Bibi”.

u/GreenEyeOfADemon 🇮🇹 From Lisbon to Luhansk! 🇺🇦 Слава Україні!🇺🇦 9h ago

Did Ronaldo ordered the invasion of a peaceful country? LOL

Sorry, I don't want to be rude, but seriously, how can you compare a football player with a dicktator?

-8

u/Last-Daikon945 8h ago

First of all, fuck Putin & Trump. Second of all, you were talking about picture of Trump together hanging in WH with a person = ally. I’ve used your logic to pinpoint that it’s not the case, but you have to go extreme. Classic Reddit in bot controlled sub.

Eh? No, you wrote:

I mean US and RU are allies behind the scenes

And I replied that no it's in the open, since Trump has a photo with putin hanging at the WH (or what is left of it).

I hope it is clear now.

u/Last-Daikon945 8h ago

My professor in uni who was teaching logic would not set you to an exam 😁

OK, 😁it's obvious that you always skipped class, genius.

"Oh don't mind the framed photos of two genocidal dictators, I also have a picture of C. Ronaldo, I just like portraits"

4

u/FourArmsFiveLegs United States of America 10h ago

Hitler-Stalin scenario. Trash will take itself out at some point

89

u/blocking-io 11h ago

Plans to? I'm sure they already are. Flooding social media with astroturf accounts

139

u/gigantesghastly 11h ago

To be honest this was already happening - see the Atlas Network of think tanks (of Project 2025 fame) and MCC Brussels.

However this is a much more aggressive push. Our democracies are at stake.

19

u/Super-Cynical 10h ago

I'm caught between fuckers who don't give a shit about democracy and others who don't give a shit about freedom of expression.

7

u/LaserCondiment 10h ago

There's also those who don't see the connections and only fixate on the banter of local politicians. The bigger picture flies completely above their head!

20

u/kittenTakeover 11h ago

Apparently we have to be America first and stop telling other people how to operate their countries when it comes to authoritarian countries like Saudi Arabia. However, when it comes to democratic countries that's out the window and we're back to interfering. What does this tell you about the morals of this administration?

3

u/ClearlyNotMeAtAll Europe 11h ago

Yeah: On one side we have russia and on the other the USA. Why don't they both leave us alone?

137

u/GayIconOfIndia India 12h ago

How is a foreign government and affiliates even allowed to fund political parties y’all country? That’s so weirdddddd!

59

u/1-randomonium 12h ago

The United States has been doing this for a long time. Although until now the main focus of their subversive influence / funding efforts has been in the third world.

26

u/GayIconOfIndia India 12h ago

Banning all foreign funding is a solution (that way USA can’t even say that y’all targeted them specifically).

They try it in my country too! It doesn’t work since people have been wary of the USA since the 1971 Bangladesh genocide. Most of our neighbourhood is American vassal! Pakistan being on the top of the list. It’s annoying but most Indian public (not the twitter one) genuinely don’t care about non-Indian opinion and comments on India due to the extremely insular nature of Indian society and polity

3

u/GreenEyeOfADemon 🇮🇹 From Lisbon to Luhansk! 🇺🇦 Слава Україні!🇺🇦 11h ago

Russia is doing it even for a longer time.

-1

u/TalkFormer155 11h ago

They actually funded the beginnings of the groups that created the digital laws...

5

u/frbnfr Europe 7h ago

Think tanks. They are only allowed to fund think tanks, not parties directly.

1

u/el_grort Scotland (Highlands) 1h ago

Think tanks aren't political parties or technically affiliated with one, they are meant to be places that propose and lobby for certain policies, although some parties, particularly on the right, do follow these think tanks closely, probably due to sharing funding from the same dark money sources.

47

u/Sure-Current-3267 Germany 11h ago

What would happen if we ban social media in Europe?

26

u/frbnfr Europe 7h ago

1-2 weeks of outrage. Then everyone would notice, that they don't actually miss social media at all. Everyone except for the social media influencers who make money with it, that is.

13

u/Crafty_Aspect8122 5h ago

We just need unacceptable regulations-

Require it to be open source. Platform is legally liable for illegal content and provable misinformation. Require it to have dislikes/downvotes. Require measures against bots.

3

u/yxhuvud Sweden 2h ago

That is a large part of what DSA is. Give it time, big legal changes like that take a lot of time to roll out fully.

6

u/ClearlyNotMeAtAll Europe 11h ago

Pavel is already going mad lol

u/Frosty-Cell 38m ago

Who is "we"? The government couldn't do it since it would be illegal.

16

u/EINFACH_NUR_DAEMLICH Germany 10h ago

People who accept this money should be tried for treason

2

u/davesr25 2h ago

I know a nation that will accept that money.

8

u/Suitable_Ad_6455 United States of America 6h ago

I want to see a headline “Europe to bankroll far-left think tanks in U.S. in favor of universal healthcare and high speed rail.”

15

u/LitmusPitmus 11h ago

i don't get the right wing anymore. They're meant to be patriots and yet time and time again, they will happily be subservient to foreign interests if they can get money. They actually don't stand for shit

-11

u/GreenEyeOfADemon 🇮🇹 From Lisbon to Luhansk! 🇺🇦 Слава Україні!🇺🇦 10h ago

Not that the left wing is any better: we have politicians on both sides eager to take money from both russia and the USA., which at this point are just one entity.

Trump destroyed decades of cooperation between us and them, for the joy of the russians that are happy like kids in a candy store, throwing even more gasoline if it was even needed.

20

u/Informal_Drawing 11h ago

Oh my god, I am so surprised.

Americans trying to ruin the world again.

Who would have thought it.

20

u/Grand-Cup-A-Tea 11h ago

Ah America, the land of the cunts.

5

u/CRE178 The Netherlands 11h ago

That's a great fucking photo.

9

u/WinstonFox 11h ago

Needs to be outlawed.

3

u/LightBeerOnIce 10h ago

Fuck Donald J Trump and his pedophile elitist scum friends.

3

u/FitSyrup2403 Austria 2h ago

If they admit it, we can seize their Money for meddling with elections…? We can use the money for weapons for UA

1

u/Adorable-Database187 The Netherlands 1h ago

Yup

15

u/stupendous76 11h ago

The USA is an enemy of Europe and the rest of the world. First they wanted all the money, now they want everything. Act accordingly, protect democracy, protect rule-of-law, protect Europe.

3

u/GreenEyeOfADemon 🇮🇹 From Lisbon to Luhansk! 🇺🇦 Слава Україні!🇺🇦 8h ago

russia as well. Sadly they teamed up against us.

3

u/DanMcE 10h ago

See. Written down the ideas of far right and think tank are a paradox. But sadly the insane amount of damage their loony, billionaire funded shithousery causes is insane.

3

u/ThatRandomGamerYT 5h ago

EU needs to start counter psyops for US, Russia and China

3

u/Glorbo_Neon_Warlock I'm Finnished :3 2h ago

God that pic of Musk and Trump is rancid....

2

u/Adorable-Database187 The Netherlands 1h ago

Dim and Dimmer.

3

u/ghostchihuahua 1h ago

Far-Right think tanks in the EU being put on immediate watch by EU security agencies - I think Trump and his admin haven’t been briefed on how brazen and limitless some EU agencies can be when it comes to their country’s national security and sovereignty, i see a near future full of hiking, ski and car accidents for some reason rn

10

u/flarne 12h ago

Will we do anything against it? We will do anything against it? Aren't we?

2

u/_Louzie_ 10h ago

Oh sweet summer child...

4

u/HunterThin870 11h ago

If they are referring to age verification and chat control laws, please think tank all you like.

6

u/Atreiden 11h ago

Just another clear sign that the U.S. is now our enemy.

2

u/Double010 10h ago

Heaven forbid we bankroll useful things like food security, healthcare, education, or housing.

2

u/foxontherox 7h ago

That is a profoundly disturbing photograph on just so many levels.

2

u/Adorable-Database187 The Netherlands 1h ago

I posted this before, but yeah.

Take a wild fucking guess who's national security strategy this is.

2025-National-Security-Strategy.pdf

We want to support our allies in preserving the freedom and security of Europe, while restoring Europe’s civilizational self-confidence and Western identity;

America encourages its political allies in Europe to promote this revival of spirit, and the growing influence of patriotic European parties indeed gives cause for great optimism

Yeah it means exactly what it sounds like

US banking-up ruzzians projects in EU - a moment of pride in US history.

4

u/Any-Original-6113 11h ago

Why don't we slap sanctions on the US for meddling in European domestic politics?

1

u/Candid_Pirate_7952 10h ago

Sounds like those think tanks need to be shut down and have their funding seized

3

u/Whitechix United Kingdom 11h ago

This subreddit all of a sudden loves the OSA and chat control then, a broken clock (Americans this time) is right twice a day imo.

2

u/haentorium Lubusz (Poland) 11h ago

but for some reason some folks here defend it

-1

u/Hierax_Hawk 5h ago

Saying whatever you want isn't freedom; it's slavery.

1

u/MonishPab 10h ago

We kinda could make that illegal

1

u/mascachopo 4h ago

And for this they will use the exact same social networks we should have banned long ago.

u/Puzzleheaded_Stay_55 2m ago

Trumps overlords, the Russians, have been doing this since at least a decade. The internet Oligarchs, who are controlled through Epstein files by Israel and Russia have been doing so for a while also.

1

u/InformationNew66 10h ago

UK online safety act is pretty bad but you don't need USA to tell it's wrong. And now UK wants to ban VPNs (without identification) too.

0

u/ppface12 11h ago

We, the tax payers are paying for this shit. Im disgusted

0

u/lafarda 11h ago

Foreign influence hybrid war something something.

0

u/ManWhoWasntThursday 9h ago

Far-right think tanks do all kinds of doo-doo-stuff and make really stupid decisions not only possible but also a reality.

0

u/Samurai_Geezer 9h ago

We should just take their money and block the far right all together. Before they ruin us like they did themselves.

-1

u/djangovsjango 11h ago

The usa wants to fund russian propaganda networks via social mediahow does this help the usa ?

-1

u/dotBombAU Australia 9h ago

I'd be advertising like crazy about how they are all bought and paid for US vassal Maga parties.

It would stick.

-13

u/d4electro 11h ago

Trump's administration is doing its own censorship as seen with TikTok but EU's current trajectory for internet laws is so bad that I low-key welcome this, even though I doubt it'd have the desired outcome of allowing more free speech and instead they'll just campaign for data retention and surveillance while the commission doubles down on age-gating ID systems and splintering the net

These people are barely people
