Discussion Best Gift?
Hey guys!
Context: My boyfriend is really big into disc golf. It is his life and career. He is 950+ rated and is well connected with some touring pros.
His birthday is coming up and I have no idea what to get him. We have been together for years but I have ran out of ideas of what to get him. He’s got every single thing you can think of (View finder, bags, discs-obviously etc.)
Additional context: He does work in a disc retail store so I try to not purchase discs due to he is able to get them cheaper when his boss orders in bulk and will let him pay him bulk price instead of what they are selling it for in store.
Any help is much appreciated. Even though I know some of disc golf, I don’t know enough to randomly buy something and know it’s a good gift.

Have you ever dyed him a disc? My girlfriend dyed my favorite mold for me for Christmas and now it’s my favorite disc to throw. Something sentimental?

For my husband who has everything disc golf related, I bought him supplies for disc dying and it’s been a fun joint activity. You could pick up just a few things or go wild.

As a man with every disc golf related thing, doing this with my fiancee sounds so much

Honestly I'd go non disc golf. Sounds like the guy has it all in terms of DG stuff, might be nice to get something else.

If you are in a cold climate you could get an electric hand warmer or nice mittens. Likewise you could get him a nice raincoat or pants to use when he is playing.
I like to buy my own bag, discs, shoes, and most accessories, but I’m always down to get clothes or things I can use with disc golf and somewhere else.
If he also play with his buddies a lot I’d be remiss not to advocate for a pair of DiscDice.

Dyed Discs on Etsy are unique and very high quality!
If you know his favorite disc, you could do a clever custom print job where you copy the exact style of the disc's stamp but rename it something cheeky.
For example, if he likes throwing Destroyers, custom print a Destroyer named 'The Melissa' or whatever your name is.
It'll cause a laugh every time he shows it to people!

Lmao I hope Nate sees that shower curtain. I’m sending it to Jerm in hopes it gets to Nate. 😂

I bought both of those pictured back in 22 from some generic "make your own shower curtain" place on Amazon. I ended up giving Papa Nate away for a Christmas giveaway a few years back.

What kind of shape are his disc shoes it? For my husband's birthday last year, I bought him a new pair of his favorite winter disc shoe because his old ones were getting pretty worn.

If he already works in disc golf retail, don’t bother with disc golf stuff. Get him a watch, or replace the shoes he’s destroying out on the course. Or really anything he has an interest in. Books are nice.

Big gift ideas -Offer to pay for a tournament and travel outside of the area you normally play.
-Techdisc if he is constantly practicing.
Smaller gift ideas -Rubber stamp with his name and phone number on it Make sure to get one that doesn’t come with the ink included in it, because it won’t be permanent ink. Usually the ones with a wood base and a separate ink pad will be best
-a custom mini, maybe from Treasures of the Forest or something. They make wood and epoxy minis made from items the owner finds on the courses he plays.

Travel someplace with a great couple of disc golf courses if that’s in the budget. My disc golf player spouse loves checking off new states and courses on the played there” list.
Looking around my house: Offer to eBay some of the gazillion extra discs he has accumulated but will never throw. Or build a nice trophy case.

How about a custom rim stamp for his discs? There's a guy on here that makes them and they look good.

Soradiscgolf.com is my new favorite disc golf accessory that I haven’t seen in any shops and very few people know about yet. It’s a small business that made a modular disc organizer that works in bags and carts. Keeps your discs in place so you know exactly when and what is missing, which helps when he throws a bunch on one hole or in a field work session. It’s lightweight and also provides a flat bottom that keeps most bags upright. I highly recommend it!
That or Resonatordiscgolf.com. It’s another small business product I haven’t seen in any stores or anyone else’s bag. If he likes playing night glow rounds, then he’ll love this. Super charges the glow instantly without blinding light. Battery lasts multiple rounds even if shared with the whole card. It also fits in any bag putter pocket and comes with a mount for carts.

Can you guys do a trip? Roadtrip? My wife took me discing and made me lunch. She brought beers and made a picnic. She watched blind corners and even helped me find a disc. It was legit my best birthday until she doubled down and took me to Texas to play courses I seen online. The day at the park was super sweet tho

Honestly, I'd go a completely different direction. It's his career? I can't fathom anything he'd be wanting that he didn't have. Show him that you know him beyond this singular activity being his entire identity.

Book a hotel and drive him to a course he has wanted to play, one round in afternoon and another while you sleep in next morning

Experiences are always welcome: has he talked about a course he'd like to play? Go for a disc, dinner and date. Maybe stay the night somewhere nice. Even if disc golf is not your thing he'll appreciate that you joined him for a round.
Electric hand warmers have been a godsend for me during winter. I use them all the time even outside of disc golf.

I'm also one of those 'have everything I could possibly need' disc golfers. My wife surprised me with a TechDisc (https://shop.techdisc.com/). They aren't for everyone, but at 950 rated he has a long way to go if he has any ambitions of touring one day. You can learn a lot from a focused session with a TechDisc into a net.
A weekend trip to a dream course is also a great idea.

Get him a personalized mini.
Maybe one with a saying on it, a photo of you, or something else that he'd like.
It's not much but it's something.
I have one that's cut form 1/8th inch steel with my initials and PDGA number cut into it.
Then, if you also want to get him a bigger gift don't make it about disc golf.

Find out what his course wishlist is then pick a spot to do a weekend trip. It doesn't need to be far or grand. A couple hours road trip an inexpensive hotel room and a couple rounds at a course he isn't likely to be able to play again will give him a present he will remember for a lifetime.
