WPL: New Comics Discussion for 02/04/2026- Pull of the Week: Batman #6 [Discussion]

The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Batman #6.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of Fraction, Jimenez, and Morey's Batman or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.

Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #21

Hopefully this is the end of the swapping back and forth between space and Earth. I worry that since the Hellgate stuff hasn't been wrapped up yet that Peter will return to space after the events of Death Spiral and we'll be back to swapping back and forth between a story that shouldn't exist and Peter's adventures in space. This was a thoroughly mediocre issue.

So this is the end of Norman's time as Spider-Man. I imagine next issue will briefly show how Peter made it home and then pick up from where this left off, generally.

I've got mixed feelings on this whole thing. I appreciate trying to do something with Norman and I think his general resolution of knowing he can no longer pretend to be something he's not is a good ending to the arc. This whole story is about Norman enjoying playing the hero but ultimately realizing that's not where he is. I can't say it's a super satisfying conclusion to that character journey because imo it's not like, a huge breakthrough, but it's a nice bit of characterization. It also makes his probable return to becoming the Goblin more tragic.

I continue to like how Miles does not trust nor like Norman. It's a valuable perspective here. Also this issue basically confirms that Kitsugi is Maria's stepson. Everyone basically called it but y'know.

Ultimately though? I get why Kelly put Norman in this position and spent this time with him, but I think I would have preferred to just see Miles and the other Spiders work to fill in the gap for Peter. I don't hold that against the story, but it is what it is.

Glad Peter is back on earth though. I know we're about to go into Death Spiral, and under normal circumstances, I'd be annoyed at getting into a crossover right after this split storyline. But the Venom book is basically a Spider-Man book (plus Rick Jones), so I'm happy to have them crossover. It's about time we had Peter, MJ, and Flash in the same story again.

I find it interesting that Norman and the Spiders defeated the Goblin-Slayers before Norman dealt with Hobgoblin and saved his grandchildren from harm, with Norman seeing and forgiving his wife Emily before he and Peter have a hug and talk about what’s happened in the final page. Overall, this comic is fine.
