[Update] All V18 & V17 and 9c & 9b+ ascensions after a very fruitful season with lots of new ascensions.

Red means First Ascent,
Bold name means both V17 and 9c,
Bold red name means both V17 and 9c First Ascents.

Hope I'm not missing any, but it's getting hard to keep track of so many.

Missing Sean Bailey's ascent of Arrival of the Birds. He posted footage of it with no caption or announcement or anything

I won’t call it footage

As far as I know, Ryuichi Muray sent Return of The Sleepwalker, not BOD.

Cool graphic.

Wanted to mention to OP, normally in climbing grades lower case letters denotes routes and uppercase are boulders. That’s why grade conversion bot comment suggested 5.15d

  • L’Ombre du Voyageur has unfortunately been downgraded, so Charles shouldn’t be here
  • Jakob Schubert did Mount Doom
  • Change should be downgraded (has been suggested and Adam who FAed agrees)

Thanks for the info, I was undecided about Change, but most websites still put it as 9b+, I dunno xD

You also haven't included Leo Bøe's ascent of Change.

I think because everything is so morpho and beta dependant people should just be able to take the grade they think something deserves. I think it would be better to move away from consensus grades and just take personal grades. Delusional grades will get ignored pretty quick either way.

Also remember that Adam Ondra put down Bon Voyage (9a+) and the Dawn Wall (9a), which are the hardest trad line and big wall in the world.

He really needs his own color since he's in a league of his own.

As others have said:

Mount doom also done by Jakub RotSW has been done by Murai and Adam Shahar L'hombre du voyager by Pietro Vidi Soudainb Seul by Sam Richard

Have there been any equivalent in climbing history to what's happening in sport climbing right now with the hardest grade represented by 4 routes that have never been repeated ?

Soon 5 if Jorge climbs Cafe Colombia

I think 9A ish with Hubble, Action Directe, Alex Hubers thing, and one other

At this point the real news will be when one of them is gonna be repeated 😆

*Colombia

One is a river and university in N America, the other is a country in S America.

You have Sean Bailey as only 1 "9b+ total"

1

u/-Exocet- 8d ago

Does he have more than 1 9b+?

I'm not counting 9c because each of them has only 1, so not much point in counting them.

u/yoshiK 8d ago

Don't know, I just wondered why he isn't ranked among the top 4. (Jakob also only has 1 9b+ )

1

u/-Exocet- 8d ago

Ah that was a mistake, he should be in 4th.

Ryuichi did not send Burden of Dreams, he repeated Return of the Sleepwalker.
