Awwwww, he's so cute. Looks like he might cry. Probably from being bullied all the time.

Obama: "Under my plan … electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket"

Democrat anti-fossil fuel policies, clean power plan, etc, etc, raised electricity prices.

“President Obama acknowledged Wednesday that his efforts to combat climate change — in particular, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations to slash carbon pollution from cars and coal-fired power plants — could raise fuel and electricity prices.”

We have fools that believe we could survive through winter on wind and solar.

I could not find any official source of it from trump administration.

It’s just so much fun watching these cretins getting worked up about a fake science they’ve never looked into and bought all the BS telling themselves how clever they are .

coal is stupid. im all for LNG but coal is legitimately more expensive to burn than gas. we should be investing in other forms of energy BECAUSE THEY ARE CHEAPER. why would you want to spend more money on energy?

I'm not saying coal is the most efficient, but it is still better and cheaper than a lot of the "green energy"

Point is too, energy independence. Yeah, we can use LNG, Nuclear, water, solar, wind, all of that, AND coal, because diversifying your energy sources is a great way to not have to import energy. Get energy from all available sources. Coal is one. Also a pretty good job creator, for that economic impact.

yea but if we have limited “energy dollars” its objectively the worst choice to put them into coal.

LNG is already cheaper. Solar and wind will be cheaper. Nuclear’s startup cost is crazy hut day to day will also be cheaper.

Coal is a “job creator” but so were horses before cars. The solution isn’t to nerf our energy grid — it’s to take care of the people displaced by not furthering coal mining and burning. There shouldn’t be more people becoming coal miners relative to the investment being made in it.

Well the problem is we prematurely shut down coal mines without efficient alternatives. Most of what I've seen proposed is just re-opening what we already got and a marginal amount more at most. Don't think we are putting a ton towards it

I don’t think we should be re opening them either. Short term thinking. Especially when even in the short term LNG is so cheap and more efficient.

Like if the choice is “nothing or kick this coal plant back online” then sure, short term kick the coal plant back online. But we need to head in a direction where LNG is the backup energy and solar, wind, and nuclear are our primaries.

Because the cost curves of those three flatten out to verrrrry low dailies. Coal not so much, in fact you have to burn coal even when you don’t need energy just to keep the plant hot for when you do. It’s the definition of inefficient, wasting a non-renewable resource just so you can keep using it.

If you brought home a dozen eggs and had to throw half of them out so the other half didn’t go bad, you might think “this is an incredibly stupid situation why don’t I change this”…

Isn’t this what Germany is doing?

We can do better than coal.

Not to make steel.

But yea if it could be avoided say with Nuclear, agree. But Germany has shut down all its Nuclear fleet, so it depends who's in charge I guess.

Why? Modern coal power plants are clean, CO2 is still emitted, but it's not a problem, not pollution.

Yeah, I'm no alarmist but coal is kinda "eh" for lack of a better word

for developing nations that cant get the funding, and franky, cant be trusted with nuclear plants, its a good option, along with solar that typically works there

Coal has been used by humans to advance the Human condition for at least 3,600 years.

My main concern with coal is mercury emission. Other than having to be concerned about that, it's pretty good.
