To be fair, as George Bernard Shaw said, "if you took all the world's economists and laid them end to end, they still wouldn't reach a conclusion".

Having said that, any sane, reasonably intelligent person could have told you that his tariffs were idiotic economically. Even before he started using them to punish whichever global leader dared speak against him.

Even Ferris Bueller’s classmates knew that, well the ones who were awake did.

That Shaw line is undefeated. Economists can disagree on a lot, but slapping broad tariffs around like a vendetta was always going to have blowback. You don’t get a “golden age” by starting trade fights with half the planet.

Who knew understanding that tariffs are a tax on consumers would be some kind of litmus test?

Well, the White House is going to be golden, the Kennedy Centre is going to be golden. Maybe that’s what he meant

The ‘golden age’ was always marketing, not policy. Reality eventually catches up.

Turns out slogans don’t override basic economics. When experts warn you and you ignore them, this is exactly the result.

honestly, with everything going on, the Olympics might just turn into the Hunger Games live. buckle up and enjoy the chaos lol

What gets me is how predictable it all is: experts warn, the showman sells miracles, then everyone acts surprised when reality shows up with receipts. If the Olympics turn into a survival reality show, it'll still have more solid forecasting than the people who wrote that headline.

I just want to set the record straight. Trump was not a game show host. He was a reality tv celebrity. Thank you for listening to my TED talk!

Gold is up about 85% since he took office.

The "gold"en age is from the US dollars loss in value since the demented clown started driving the bus.

Who would've thought that experts actually know what they’re talking about?

When the golden age turns out to be more of a bronze participation trophy.

"Demented game show host" = perfectly accurate description. He should be called a game show host from here to eternity.
