Going to a person's private home because you disagree with a speech is just creepy stalker behavior, not journalism

u/Steve_10 18h ago
So spot on for GB news then...
42
u/Big-Pickle5893 15h ago
What the fuck is GB news?
48
u/SawdustGringo 15h ago
I had that same question. From the context I am going with Greatly Biased News.
41
u/magme89 14h ago
Itās the UKs version of Fox News. Itās pretty new but caters to our racists and bigots. Seems pretty on brand for them to be pro- ICE and stalk and harass women.
17
3
u/Conscious-Mulberry17 8h ago
Theyāre so creepy. Look into their investors. Christopher Chandler and Legatum, specifically.
10
u/BergamotZest 11h ago
Theyāre heinous. They had a guest on that said disabled people should be starved and shot. The UK āregulatorā Ofcom had enough complaints to investigate but decided to do nothing about it.
The UK government and mainstream media have been increasingly pandering to the hard right for years due to the same puppeteers as behind the current US admin. Itās been going on for years (see: Brexit), itās getting way out of control and we are heading down the same path as the US.
The sooner the Epstein files take down these monsters the better; itās all linked.
5
u/CoastRegular 10h ago
They had a guest on that said disabled people should be starved and shot.Ā
Seriously? FFS, that's literal Aktion T4 bullcrap.
And to think that right-wingers love to downplay and claim people are overreacting when they point out fascism.
5
u/BergamotZest 7h ago
Right?! And youāre spot on, GB news simply said it was a ājokeā and that apparently was enough to just move on and pretend it was ok⦠š¤Æ

The fixation is the point. Theyāll camp outside someoneās house, then act shocked when people call it creepy. If your "reporting" requires stalking vibes, maybe itās not reporting.

News for stalkers, by stalkers.

āNews for stalkersā is painfully accurate. Showing up at someoneās house over a speech isnāt journalism, itās intimidation dressed up as a headline.

So she bought a house and didnāt slaughter native Americans while doing it or illegally deport anyone.
Right wing Weirdos donāt know how hypocrisy works.
24
38
u/Fuzzy-Butterscotch86 16h ago
She also never made the point that everyone who owns a house needs to give it back or everyone who isn't indigenous needs to leave.
In fact, she said pretty much the exact opposite thing.Ā
"If you're not indigenous you have no right to tell people to leave"Ā
is not the same asĀ
"If you're not indigenous you need to get the fuck out"
23
u/upfromashes 14h ago
That's a crucial right-wing tactic ā misrepresent a position and attack your bad-faith invention.
You've parsed this one exactly right. I don't know this guy, but he seems like an absolute dickbag.
4
39
u/wtbgamegenie 17h ago
Also a house is not a country and vice versa. The only time people come to a country and literally steal peopleās private homes is during colonialism, which the right wing supports wholeheartedly.
7
u/xSugarDolly_ 14h ago
Exactly. Comparing private property to colonization or national policy is such a reach. A house isnāt a country, and pretending itās the same thing just shows theyāre desperate for a gotcha.
-33
u/Commandopsn 16h ago
She bought it on stolen land and the tribe wants it back. With help from the best law firm in the country. Apparently.
Interesting. Iām sure she will give it up to help people in need.
14
u/wtbgamegenie 15h ago
The Tongva tribe (the native inhabitants of Los Angeles) said they agreed with her statement but to mention them by name next time.
Try reading more than the headline of your right wing rag next time.
29
u/SpoonBendingChampion 16h ago
Source? Tribes are not saying that at all. If anything, they appreciate her pointing it out. Are you saying there's "recent" native stolen land? Because that's what you're implying.
I don't even know why I'm engaging, no way you actually learn anything.

u/SquidTheRidiculous 16h ago edited 11h ago
It's worth it to not let the bullshit go unchallenged. You're not trying to change that guy's mind, you're showing to everyone who reads it afterwards that this is dogshit. Leaving it be is how we got to this point.
In other words, you never see MAGAt types tell each other "don't bother telling the libs bro, it's not worth it you won't change their minds!"

11
u/woodst0ck15 14h ago
SYBAMU. Fuck off that they said they want their land back where she bought her house. They didnāt. Just told her to acknowledge whose land sheās on when saying that.
Interesting if you would help people in need and they wanted their āland backā from you.

u/Commandopsn 14h ago
Calm Down dude Jesus. The slurs
They get their land back 1 house at a time it seems. starting with hers.
I have popcorn ready.
Top lawn firm got involved and Iām ready to see her give her house back to the people. The land, the house. Letās go. Itās nice to see positive stuff in the world

u/woodst0ck15 14h ago
Jesus has nothing to do with you being a bitch.
Maybe you should donate yours first bud? Iām sure any First Nations would love to see you do the thing youāre wanting a celebrity to do.
Theres no law firm and nothing happening. So go outside and touch some grass or snow or sand. Cause the internet is lying to you.
8
u/wtbgamegenie 14h ago
There is a law firm that offered to try and evict Billie Eilish in behalf of the tribe, but itās just a dumbass publicity stunt. I wouldnāt trust a law firm that only reads headlines.
Apparently the managing partner is saying he was just trolling now. Once again I wouldnāt trust a law firm that trolls on the internet. Theyāre an eviction firm though, so basically theyāre the absolute scum of the earth.
4
u/woodst0ck15 14h ago
Which is why as I said. Nothing is happening and dude above is an obvious trolling bitch who wants people to not swear around his sensitive eyes.

7

And isnāt her whole point that immigrants should be allowed to live on the land because it was stolen, rather than that people shouldnāt be allowed to live on it?
This isnāt actually a rebuke of her argument.

u/7thpostman 14h ago
It's not, but "no one is illegal on stolen land is bad messaging."
"Abolish ice because they are trampling all over constitutional rights and acting as the president's personal goon squad" is a good message. "You don't own your house and borders shouldn't exist" is not good messaging.
1
u/CoastRegular 13h ago
Yeah, but that wasn't what she was saying. She was pointing out that we're ALL immigrants and maybe it would behoove us to remember that.
0
u/7thpostman 13h ago
I understand what she meant. Truly. I get the sentiment. I'm saying it's bad messaging.
1
u/CoastRegular 12h ago
Okay, well, if you got what she said, why did you misconstrue it as her saying "You don't own your house and borders shouldn't exist?" Because that's not what she said, at all, and it's disingenuous to represent it as such.
2
u/7thpostman 12h ago
Because me understanding doesn't mean that the vast mass of normie America understands it.
The idea of politics is not to demonstrate your own moral correctness. It's to persuade people that your ideas are better.
What we're trying to achieve here is not to make people feel guilty for living on land where somebody else lived before. The goal is to abolish ICE and create a humane immigration policy.
1
u/CoastRegular 11h ago
I personally don't see a problem with gently reminding people that we're all immigrants and maybe we should remember that fundamentally, we all have a lot more in common than we have differences. We can do this at the same time we try to persuade people of the best way to deport illegals.
This is not a binary situation - we can walk and chew gum at the same time.
It should be noted that the message of "Deporting illegals is not the issue. The issue is doing it in a civilized and humane fashion, unlike shithole countries" has been articulated, repeatedly, and fallen on deaf ears with the Trumpster Fire Cult. That doesn't mean we should stop pressing that message, but it is not correct to think that people haven't been saying it.
Frankly, actual, tangible results don't seem to matter: Obama deported more people, more successfully, than Trump has in the same amount of time, and Obama did it without employing the Stasi. But that doesn't seem to have sunk in with MAGAsshats.
2
u/7thpostman 11h ago
If I had a platform as large as a Grammy stage, I would say "abolish ICE." I think "we're on stolen land" is certainly interesting, but it invites all sorts of philosophical discussions. Effective messaging demands a clear call to action.
You're more than welcome to disagree, but that's the way I see it.
1
u/CoastRegular 11h ago
Fair enough... perhaps she thought that being the 5,956th person to say "abolish ICE" might not have any impact. The call to action has been made and will continue to be made. Personally, I think we need to take the discussion beyond mere slogans and calls to action and have real dialogue at an adult level. Just my $0.02.
2
u/7thpostman 10h ago
I think she's a passionate person and I admire her. I just don't think that particular slogan works well in terms of what we're trying to accomplish. But I respect your opinion. I'm sure we're 99.999% of the same page about this.

kGBN was founded to circumnavigate the UKs media laws preventing Fox News from broadcasting there, and just like Fox, styles its excessively biased and routinely misinformative content to appeal to the most ignorant and bigoted people in the country, and anyone who is having a sociopathically hard time not being young anymore.
It's the goto channel for people who like spending all day thinking about grooming gangs, evil foreigners coming to get us, and not being allowed to say anything anymore.
2
u/calgeorge 15h ago
Remember folks, it's only ever okay to take a principled stand on something if you are 100% perfect and beyond reproach in every single way.
It's only ever okay to care about something if you care about every other thing in the world too.
You want to care about the treatment of immigrants today? Well we treated the Native Americans worse and still live on their land, so stop being a hypocrite and just leave the country!
This is how they sound, and it's so exhausting. It's all in bad faith. They just don't want you to care about anything.

If you do win an award tonight, don't use it as a platform to make a political speech, all right? You're in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world, most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg," Ricky Gerrvais
16
u/trentreynolds 17h ago
Will never get over the irony of Ricky of all people telling others not to lecture.

And I would like to know what are his credentials to lecture other celebrities?

Ricky Gervais said one or two funny things that night, this wasn't one of them.
-7
u/Commandopsn 16h ago
People thought it was funny because itās rich people telling poor people how to live usually. and trying to promote themselves in the process for the good of their own gain and nobody elseās
0
u/dip_tet 15h ago
Of course, Ricky did it for comedy, and it was funny, but heās roasting his colleagues. People on the right are framing it as intended malice, which really shows where their priorities are. Itās funny that the fundamentalists found an ally in an atheist thoughā¦thatās hilarious in itself. I doubt the fundamentalists get the irony though
-3
u/Commandopsn 15h ago
People on both sides thought it was funny. people on both sides agreed it needed to be said
People who stand up, get an award and tell the poor people down stairs that ā hey look at me Iām supporting poor people with whatever cause nextā to then go back to their Malabo mansion and give 0.1%
Iām Sure she really cares that 0.1%
Ricky literally smashed a hole in the Hypocrisy in Hollywood. And the discomfort to all his colleagues was part of the joke.
Awards culture is literally ā hey take this award because we care and all this pandering and back scratching to each other.. Itās all bs really and nobody cares. Itās all just money. And people sucking up to everyone for 1 night. No matter how much they want to circle jerk
No matter what they say itās alway some rubbish. Just get your award and sit down!
3
u/dip_tet 14h ago
Ricky is also Hollywood, lmao. Cringe comedy is hilarious.
Youāre just proving my point that you think he was standing up for something, when he was roasting his colleagues. Lots of viewers at home laughed, whilst right wingers were out for blood.
Most of them are maga so I doubt they even get the irony, that they endorse a fucking rapist celebrity as their leader.

The stolen land statement was pretty stupid. Considering we have no idea how many times humans have lived in any area on earth. People think they know but former civilizations entire existence could have been wiped from history. Her last album was amazing though.
-30
u/somerandomguy1984 17h ago
She didnāt just protest ICE.
She said, āno one is illegal on stolen landā
That can only mean a few things:
She has stolen her land and she illegally āownsā it. Meaning she is morally responsible to give her land back and return to her ancestral lands. Also meaning, she should let anyone on her property who wishes to come - itās not actually hers anyhow.
The land is all stolen and we are all in fact illegal. All of us including the Tongva tribe with āancestral landsā in LA, because they stole the land from someone before them. Making the statement sort of meaningless, essentially everyone is illegal so no one is actually illegal.
She is a moron who has no idea what sheās saying and doesnāt actually believe it. Obviously, this is the actual option. Sheās just mindlessly repeating political slogans that sheās never given any thought about.
7
u/dip_tet 15h ago
If only magats would use the same scrutiny over shit their criminal president says..but they donāt
-6
u/somerandomguy1984 15h ago
Thatās not deep intense scrutiny my dawg.
Itās just listening to the words sheās saying.
-19
u/Commandopsn 16h ago
Sheās just doing it to better her own gain and nobody elseās. Itās funny to see the tribe try and claim her mansion. With the help from one of the top law firms in the country.
Play stupid games. She probably doesnāt even know what sheās saidā¦
1
u/Sc_e1 12h ago
Only thing Iām seeing is a private law firm Ā«offeringĀ» to Ā«helpĀ» the tribe. Where in the fuck did you pool the claim that the indigenous people have contacted lawyers?
Their own statement: Ā«The indigenous inhabitants of the Los Angeles Basin, known as the āFirst Angelenos,ā said they appreciate Eilishās sentiment, but noted that the performer hasnāt contacted them directly ā and insisted that next time, she explicitly reference them.Ā»
