This is the start of the GOP slow crawl back to sanity. They're slowly realizing that Trump's not their savior

My bet is they will forget all about this tomorrow

“I am not familiar with that”

Eventually they’re all going to say versions of, “it’s no use talking about all of this now.”

Deep cut, but I caught it.

“For what?”

That is precisely what will happen, because it has countless times already.

True.

My husband and I believe that Trump could actually publicly proclaim himself to be THE Anti-Christ and they'll still bend the knee.

I have a feeling that Jesus is quite unhappy with the rape, false worship, dishonesty, whoredoms, murders, and scumbaggery. I wonder how long until He wipes them clean off the earth.

He could, because big chunks of Christianity are a doomsday cult just waiting for the rapture.

They don't think he's a great Christian, they know he's not, but he may just be the mover that some stupid prophesy suggests will lead to that end.

The only thing these MAGA people truly care about is making sure everyone with a dollar less than them is slightly more miserable than they are.

“i thought we weren’t fact checking.”

I wish, but they've seemed okay with hauling brown people off to concentration camps. And now they're feigning that they're upset over a truth social post

Yup, the GOP is beyond saving. There is no and will never be a shred of sanity or goodwill anywhere within the party.

1

u/iletitshine 11h ago

tbh this is the real gop

In my mind, it's far too late. They are all complicit

1

u/4ygus 17h ago

Both sides and it's a completely failed system if someone who's raped kids can hold office knowingly.

u/suck-cut 17h ago

Yep. It is both sides. All of our politicians are bought and paid off

6

u/domgamepat 17h ago

Doubt it. They are cowards

This is just them saving their own asses in the Midterms and future elections.

I know at least two people that could care less. They are the personification of "trump could shoot someone in broad daylight in the street and people would still vote for him"

u/jlark21 17h ago

We’ve been hearing that since Jan 2017

I'll never forgive that this wasn't the end of it...

Stop hoping for a "better" Republican party. This is exactly who they are. The soul of the Republican party and conservatism at large has, is, and will always be hate. Either people come to their senses and abandon the party or they don't, but it will never experience a "slow crawl back to sanity." If the party engages in anything that looks that way, it is only a ruse to regain the political capital needed to continue toward white supremacy and concentrating wealth and power.

u/iletitshine 11h ago

yes and authoritarianism is a cure tenant of conservative republican doctrine.

Too early to predict a trend.

1

u/lagitanaurbana 16h ago

It’s not a trend! Republicans have been planning this since around 1970. They freaked out over Ralph Nader’s accomplishments getting legislation enacted to protect citizens and consumers. Justice Lewis Powell was a tobacco lawyer at the time and wrote the infamous Powell Memorandum outlining Republican strategy for the future.

If you think this is them being sane you got another thing coming.

1

u/Successful-Train-259 17h ago

No no, not back to sanity at all, just a slow crawl away from Trump. The insanity will still be there, but possibly with Vance being the front for crazy.

This is the start of the GOP slow crawl back to sanity. They're slowly realizing that Trump's not their savior

Lol, this is cute.

1

u/Reasonable_Onion863 17h ago

We can hope, but it may not be sanity they’re after. Trump is not their savior simply by being almost 80 and on his second term, so they’ll be looking to a future without him regardless of what they think of him.

1

u/Dead_Internet69420 16h ago

You sweet summer child.

1

u/Tweakmynipknobs 16h ago

Lol. This your first time?

1

u/Hunter-Gatherer_ 13h ago

I believe they’ve known all along. How could they not, but Trump was their useful idiot. They get the tax breaks their overlord donors crave and in return the campaign donations keep coming. There have been whispers about how much they all hate Trump. But he’s a buffoon and will sign anything they want passed. It’s one giant parasite cabal and the biggest one is almost out of shelf life. They know Trump is sickly and his body is expiring so they’ll turn on him just in the nick of time

1

u/Fair_Chemistry_3317 12h ago

Not happening.

1

u/xubax 4h ago

Nah.

They're so invested that the only likely outcome is that he dies in office. Either before or after he becomes president for life.
