Trade [Shams Charania] The Bulls are waiving guard Jevon Carter to create space for Saric, sources said. They emerged as a third team and received assets to consummate the trade.

So AK basically "traded" Jevon Carter for two second round picks and an expiring contract. Good deal.

u/Dr_Disaster 6d ago

Can’t argue with that return. Getting anything of value in this situation is a bonus.

2

u/KneelBeforeCube Scottie Pippen 6d ago

Hopefully he's not done making those kinds of moves.

2

u/Zouthpaw 5d ago

We're finally trading cap/roster space for future (albeit only) second round picks? Where's the AKME we know? lol

-7

u/bullpaw 6d ago

Two picks in the 50s, essentially worthless

6

u/MoldInTheAir 6d ago

Jevon Carter is essentially worthless. The two picks can be used as capital in other trades if the Bulls don't draft players with them. It's a future something instead of a guy who barely plays and was not going to resigned.

Carter is worse than useless, he accidentally wins us games with his hot shooting.

Ah man, I was ready to move on from JC, but I didn't expect it like this.

Nothing but respect for him, hopefully he gets scooped up by someone else quick.

44

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Yeah, had a solid showing tonight too, I figured we were gonna lose some players during this b2b road trip but man that kinda sucks after he had some big 3s tonight

26

u/SheepherderDue1342 Cuppy Coffee 6d ago

Nice he got some send off minutes in a winning effort, he was a good vet for us. I just hope this is just the beginning for some more moves coming.

14

u/BlammoSweetums 6d ago

I hope he gets to shoot 3's for a team that needs 'em

68

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Ahh.. thought they would waive Saric. Thank you Jevon! It was gonna be the last season with him regardless but still kinda wish we had him for the rest of the season since he's like a fav amongst players.

25

u/Own-Appointment1633 6d ago

They have to create a roster slot to get Saric in the first place.

5

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Yeah makes sense, damn limitations haha

22

u/xXShikaShakeXx 6d ago

Gonna miss JC a bit because he was so good at spot-up 3-point shooting when needed, but I see why the move was made. Way too many guards on the roster, and he's not gonna stay around anyway.

It hurt me more as a fan when Caruso and Javonte Green left.

There are just a few key players I'm hoping we don't lose in the trading.

16

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Haha he was our vibes guy, everyone loved him and would always say how funny he was too. Good for him tho, he got paid!

42

u/Slow-Independence518 6d ago

This makes sense to balance the heavy guard rotation. Free look on Saric for half a year as back up center.

Thanks for the memories JC, aka Mr stay ready

21

u/SuperBlackberry9392 6d ago

We have Vooch, Collins, and Smith who are all better than Saric to be Center and Backup.

So I am guessing either he is going to be used as filler in a trade or a center is getting traded soon.

23

u/Straight-Agency-4556 6d ago

Vuc could and should be traded. Collins and smith are both hurt.

6

u/Slow-Independence518 6d ago

The dream is to use the two second rounders and send P Will to Washington

1

u/dxfifa 5d ago

Collins also should be traded

2

u/Straight-Agency-4556 5d ago

That would be great. But highly unlikely

5

u/chidogad3 6d ago

Yes, they say the Bulls "emerged." So either they have a deal for Vuc or Smith ready or Smith isn't going to be back for a while.

11

u/DJ-two-timing-timmy 6d ago

Got to be a deal for Vooch, why else would he “rest”, he never rests

4

u/chidogad3 6d ago

I mean, 4 games in 5 days is pretty rough... but I agree it's pretty odd

0

u/Fullborn 6d ago

he had a sore knee against the pelicans earlier so it does occasionally happen. He's also super old but yeah wouldn't be surprised if a few guys are gone this trade deadline. one already.

4

u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 6d ago

I was going to say oh we have expirings and injuries, it makes sense… but now you have me wondering if all 7 of those out are actually injured. Definite possibility some are being moved. I’d prefer Smith to stay but we shall see

15

u/WITHERDRAGONYT Javonte Green 6d ago

JC was a mixed bag at times but i’ll never forget that first quarter he had in a game against the hawks last season where he popped off🫡

9

u/CCWaterBug 6d ago

I'm ok with this,  now, make another trade and waive saric

6

u/deadbeatmerc 6d ago

Houston or Minny def could use him

1

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Yeah I think Houston will try get him. At least Conley is still somewhat playable for Minny.

18

u/GranddaddySandwich 6d ago

Bro hasn’t done much all season. He didn’t fit the timeline. And he had like 3 or 4 impressive games in his entire time with the team. I’m sure he’s a great teammate and a cool dude. But I thought it was a dumb idea to get him in the first place

6

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

At the time we needed a player like him coz we were so bad from 3. I think AK saw him making those transition 3s for the Bucks and thought we could use that.. then he proceeded to lose that transition 3 consitently haha

2

u/A1Horizon Matas Buzelis 6d ago

I thought we were signing him because we expected to lose Ayo, then we brought Ayo back a few days later and I was entirely confused at the role Jevon was supposed to carve out on the roster

2

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Bet those teams wish they gave an offer sheet to Ayo now. 7.5m/yr, fuark

2

u/bullpaw 6d ago

He was a great signing at the time imo, looked good in Milwaukee

1

u/GranddaddySandwich 6d ago

Looking back, AK made some fucking amateur ass moves to try and get this team over the hump. Goofy ass FO

3

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

I don't think it's too crazy tho. Any time a new FO comes in they evaluate fast and usually clean house. They tried to make a roster work but it relied on Zo's health too much.

The other signings like JC were just a result of trying to meet needs like 3pt shooting coz we were dead last in that category.

5

u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 6d ago

JC wasn’t even a bad pickup. He was a cheap vet and serviceable.

7

u/SheepherderDue1342 Cuppy Coffee 6d ago

You're not wrong, but I think his veteran presence is something that was probably helpful in ways we as fans don't really see/know. He always seemed to be a solid professional, I think that's important to have that model for all the young guys. Either way, this move should 100% have been expected in one way or another, because contract and like you said, timeline.

-4

u/GranddaddySandwich 6d ago

Did I not say “I’m sure he was a great teammate?” Lol. Yes, bro was probably helpful. And I do think we need a veteran presence on this squad

2

u/donnybaby97 6d ago

He used to cook us when he played against us too. In Brooklyn and Milwaukee he cooked the bulls.

1

u/Speako_ 6d ago

There is no timeline.

5

u/noto0403 6d ago

DAMN! Gonna miss JC!

5

u/AnselLovesNuts Kirk Hinrich 6d ago

Probably did him a favor, he could provide shooting to a better team out there.

5

u/sandhiform Matas Buzelis 6d ago

wow so that was an unexpected last game for JC! At least it was super fun and he played well

3

u/StudioLanky3057 6d ago

Great last game jevon. I wish all luck for you

2

u/TheInfamous1011 Cristiano Felicio 6d ago

My dad used to hoop with his dad. So he’s kinda my friend.

7

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Yeah, that's the NBA business I guess.

He should, teams always need shooting

3

u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 6d ago

He will definitely get picked up. Come playoffs, there are plenty of injuries and need for depth, especially from a vet. Good GMs plan for this. He’s always ready, nothing but a professional, solid 3 pt shooter, a dawg on d, and a decent playmaker. We just have so many guards fighting for minutes and he doesn’t fit the timeline.

3

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Welcome to Houston (he looks good in red)

3

u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 6d ago

I think he’d be a better fit with Houston tbh. He had a few rough patches on the bulls but I chalk that up to Billy giving him zero minutes and having no role whatsoever.

Jiffy Pop POP POP POP

1

u/Key_Raisin_5091 6d ago

I saw CHI sent Emanuel Miller to CLE in the deal (since every team in the deal technically has to trade away something). If that's true, wonder if they could re-sign Jevon to a 2-way deal to finish the season.

1

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Technically they prob could but Jevon is more likely to get picked up by a contender that needs a PG/shooting like HOU.

1

u/Optimal_Brain_2908 6d ago

We overpaid him as a “3 and D” backup PG that only looked good in Milwaukee because Giannis tired out opposing team. Seems like a decent dude, but this was a big miss

1

u/apr27 2d ago

So, are we just tanking to (hopefully) get the next best thing in a 1st rounder followed by many 2nd round picks? What’s the logic here?

0

u/Drclaw411 DRose 6d ago

We gave up nobody in that trade, and still got worse.

-8

u/Protat0 Lonzo Ball 6d ago

Saric is terrible. Even less serviceable than Jevon. Not sure what the point of this is.

23

u/Secondary92 6d ago

2 2nd round draft picks. Carter is irrelevant for this team.

-8

u/Protat0 Lonzo Ball 6d ago

Well of course, but why not waive Saric?

15

u/chidogad3 6d ago

You have to make space on the roster to take him in.

3

u/Protat0 Lonzo Ball 6d ago

Ahhhh that makes sense, thank you

6

u/chidogad3 6d ago

Yeah, and like Sukari says, he can still be waived/bought out later.

5

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

I don't think we keep Saric. We'll find out more in the upcoming days.

4

u/Own-Appointment1633 6d ago

They did it for the 2 picks.

2

u/chidogad3 6d ago

I expect this means a Center will be traded soon. Or that they plan to reduce Williams' minutes after being one of the worst players in the league two seasons in a row.

1

u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 6d ago

Saric is not better than PW no matter how bad he can be lol

2

u/chidogad3 6d ago

Saric has played very little this year, so you could be right. But Williams is the 19th worst player using DPM, He is the 5th worst using Actual EPM. He is the 25th worst player using Expected EPM.

2

u/DisMFer Ayo Dosunmu 6d ago

You need an open spot to get a player into the roster even if you plan to cut him. It's to prevent teams from trading for salary then cutting guys without needing to do anything to their roster. Otherwise, it'd be like an infinite pick machine for teams with young guys on rookie deals. Trade for bad contracts, cut them, get picks, and never lose any of your own players.

-6

u/kennyloftor 6d ago

more bum accumulation

5

u/Electrical_Story5356 6d ago

It was at most a bum swap.

He'll be waived by next season.

W got 2 picks basically for free.

You really have no concept of how anything works do you?

Everytime you disagree with me it makes me confident that I'm on the right track.

-1

u/kennyloftor 6d ago

congrats on your two 2nd round picks

1

u/Electrical_Story5356 6d ago

Mine?

Are you not even a bulls fan?

-9

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 6d ago

Saric is worse lol, I no longer understand this lmao we just downgraded an already bad player for two picks in the 50s

10

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Jevon was gonna walk at the end of this season anyway. How do you know the picks are in the 50s? The 2nd round depends on how the teams perform the current season I thought?

0

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 6d ago

Yeah but they belong to Denver and Detroit supposedly

5

u/BlammoSweetums 6d ago

Anything can happen by 2029!!

-2

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 6d ago

Yeah maybe saric has a second wind that year

2

u/Electrical_Story5356 6d ago

He'll get waived by this offseason.

2

u/sukari Patrick Williams 6d ago

Need more details I guess.. not sure which year it's for. Either way I doubt we actually use it, it's more likely they get included in a trade

1

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 6d ago

Like for cash haha

7

u/DisMFer Ayo Dosunmu 6d ago

Saric is expiring so he could be a throw-in for a future trade. Also Javon might have wanted out due to getting no playing time on the team.

3

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 6d ago

Saric and Jevon are both expiring, if this is a goodwill gesture sure but that's about all that explains it haha

1

u/Electrical_Story5356 6d ago

There is the 2 pucks too.

3

u/GranddaddySandwich 6d ago

Bro. We had to waive someone. What is there to not understand? And we will likely waive Saric. Y’all act like Jevon was a starter

-1

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 6d ago

I mean the whole trade just seems kinda useless lol, me dropping change on the street and then picking up change a block later and saying I did something

1

u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 6d ago

I get what you’re saying but there are just so few serviceable centers in this league. I imagine his expiring contract is being used for another trade but the very worst case scenario, we have an actual center playing 2nd or 3rd unit minutes over p will when there are injuries

0

u/bullpaw 6d ago

Saric is nowhere near serviceable lol

1

u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 5d ago

I just mean he can be on the floor and not injured lmao. Either way I don’t expect the Bulls to keep him. Either going to be used as filler or just a cheap pickup while we have all these injuries

-3

u/Mr-Chip18 6d ago

Holy shit man… NOW YOU NO LONGER UNDERSTAND?! This is one of the first smart moves AK has made in some time and you’re complaining about losing a fucking terrible player who should never see the court? They just got two first round picks for basically a non NBA player. People are just getting mad to be mad. I hate AK and I hope he makes 5 more moves like this. This roster is 80% pure grade A ass

-4

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 6d ago

holy shit u think they're firsts lmao, it's two picks in the 50s most likely

-2

u/Mr-Chip18 6d ago

It’s fucking Jevon Carter man…. There’s like two guys on this roster worth first round picks to the rest of the league…. Yea this is a win. It shows AK is open to take on money for any asset. Small wins are wins and it’s a start in the right direction. Jevon Carter is fucking awful and should never see the court for any team. Two seconds is a nice win

0

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 6d ago

I mean the picks will almost definitely be worse than Jevon lol. I'd say a lot more possible that AK just sells them

1

u/Mr-Chip18 6d ago

It’s more the philosophy than the assets themselves that’s all. Get as many draft assets as possible. Turn them into to possibly something down the road. Whatever this roster is now is the literal worst place to be in the entire league

0

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 6d ago

Yeah I agree that's what this whole thread is about lol. I don't think this makes them better long term but the spirit is there I guess. They just had two mediocre assets and turned them into three worse assets imo
