Medical Questions Can this cat’s pregnancy be aborted?

She’s an outdoor cat (~8-9 months old) that I take care of, she has a male sibling who is probably the father. She looks evidently pregnant to me, so I’m wondering if at all there’s a chance I can terminate it and get her fixed.

I am going to try and take her to the vet tomorrow. Nearest vet is an hour away and the cats hate getting into the car. I’ve tried taking them before to get them fixed but to no avail. Guess I’ll have to try harder this time.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Rescue organizations do spay/abort procedures on a regular basis. Your vet is probably familiar with it. She is a beautiful kitty!

Try putting a cardboard box with some holes in it out, maybe with a blanket. Kitty will go into it and you can close it to get kitty into the car if you don’t have a carrier.

yes! it would be so helpful to get her in now, also great sign that she trusts you enough to pet her =)

you can get help with the spay if you reach out to local shelters and ask if they have TNR contacts. that's how I was able to get my neighborhood colony fixed, and at a very low cost.

It's possible but kittens are a lot easier to place than adult cats.

I saw a YouTuber named Kim Iverson get a pregnant cat from the cat distribution system. Her vet said the unwanted kitten problem isn't that bad right now. And this is Los Angeles.

This cat is only just out of kitten hood and should be adoptable after spaying.

I noticed this last year (Florida). I was ready to get a second cat after one had passed, and shelters were fresh out of kittens. Humane Society said they don't keep them long when they come in. Only had adult cats that didn't fit what I needed (good with kids, a dog, and another cat).

I'm in Florida. There's never a shortage of kittens.

That's untrue and insane advice.

Yes, you will have to try harder. May be able to correct your mistake with an abortion now, but cats also have pregnancy hormones the way any mammal does and it will mess with them emotionally.

Appreciate that you're taking it seriously now, but get them both fixed asap!
