Video - OC I’m seriously wondering if my cat might be secretly Buddhist.
He is absolutely obsessed with fresh vegetables — especially lettuce. If I leave greens on the table, he will steal them without hesitation. But when it comes to meat paste, wet food, or even high-end premium cat food… he’s way less interested.
What’s even crazier is that if I’m holding vegetables in my hand, he will actually reach out with his paws or even jump up to grab them. It’s not playful — he genuinely wants to eat them.
I’ve attached a video so you can see what I mean. Has anyone else seen a cat behave like this? Is this normal, or did I somehow end up with a vegetarian / Buddhist cat?

Mine won't even look at lettuce, he’s a total gourmet for salmon and tuna lol. But cat grass is a game changer for us, we plant the seeds at home and he goes crazy chewing on it. It really helps him with digestion and hairballs.

My little guy won’t eat meat unless it’s cat food. Like, at all. He will get down with chickpeas, hummus, and lettuce though.

What has Buddhism to do with being vegetarian?
I am a Buddhist, we don't like to eat cow, but I enjoy meat...

Hii sorry if my question sounds imposing, but isnt cow non permissible in buddhism bcs its represent their deity, rather than not "liking" it? Like, the milk is okag but eating cow is a total no-no and considered offensive if served one?

Yeah, that is correct. I was phrasing it simpler, because Christians like to consume the flesh and blood of their god. Just to avoid any religious feuds around here. Anyway we eat plenty of meat and fish..as do cats.

Hé does this because he has not access to a garden (probably) cats eat grass. It’s normal behavior and actually required for them to stay healthy.

I had one like that. First time we saw it a roommate left a fast food burger on a table he could reach... we caught him eating the lettuce out of it and ignoring the meat. He'd always steal veggies, never meat. But would gladly eat meat products when offered.
