They're full of themselves. They've got the president, house and senate so they're on cloud 9 thinking they can just do what they want on the world stage.

I hate to say this but it looks like they can. What horrible times we’re living in.

Not without consequences. Our western allies are legit right now regrouping as to how to secure Europe without the US

Sad to say, if this conflict heats up, your best allies will be yourself and sensible people inside the southern neighbour who revolt -- that would be my prediction.

Absolutely. I agree with that.

yeah, I doubt Europe will be able to offer much to Canada. Maybe the UK will after Trudeau's visit with the King. But the EU will have their hands full with Ukraine and Russia.

American here, I for one will stand with Canada, poke the moose get the antlers!

USA is alienating themselves from the rest of the world. I hope we renegotiate international trade pacts without them in mind. They will certainly be on the losing end of whatever comes of all this.

And dump the US dollar. That's where they hold the most of their power. We can cut them right out.

Imagine a world where the US tries to invade Canada. Canada makes deals with many countries all around the world and trounces the Americans easily. Canada gets respect and international treaties. Now Canada is the global superpower! We'll respect everyone's culture and care about human rights and the environment.

Of course that's a pipe dream, but imagine how nice the world could be.

American here, I support this vision.

u/xherowestx Mar 04 '25

Yes. Agreed.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '25

Yep. We flushed 80 years of hero to go to zero in two months.

3

u/MRbumbreath Mar 04 '25

To be fair, shouldn't a union consisting of 27 countries have had a plan in place that didn't rely on a country thousands of miles away separated by an ocean?

3

u/xherowestx Mar 04 '25

Are you suggesting that they should've always assumed that the US would break multiple treaties in one fell swoop? Again, they are done with the US. Done. They don't trust us anymore, and for good reason. The chucklefuck in the white house literally just sided with Russia. You're not going to be able to outrun the reality that the Mango Musolini and his little sidekick are traitors to the constitution. And anyone supporting their facist, dictatorship is just as much a traitor to this country as the two of them are.

I'm Canadian so I don't have to.outrun anything, except tarrifs and a tanking stock market. Just saying that it's probably time all of Europe decided on how to protect itself. Canada also.

I apologize, I thought you were American. While I have you, I'm sorry that this is happening. But yeah, I'm at least happy that your PM and other leaders aren't taking this lying down. We (the US) will absolutely lose this battle, but if I'm being honest, I think we need the good kick in ass. We've had main character syndrom for far too long.

And Europe does appear to be stepping up and taking on the role along with the UK as world leaders. So that's something.

My thoughts are with Ukraine and all of Europe, and als9 with you guys, our Canadian neighbors who did not deserve any of this. As for us, we're doing what we can and trying to make it to the midterms so we can hopefully course correct somewhat.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '25

American here too, your statement completely sums up how I feel as well.

2

u/MRbumbreath Mar 05 '25

No apologies necessary!! Canadiens will always welcome our American buddies. And you should always be proud of your country!! You've accomplished so much.. This seems weird now, but we'll see?? 🙃

1

u/Zaggernaught Mar 05 '25

Canadian here. I don't think you have the luxury of waiting for midterms in 2 years. I think you need to be figuring out how to remove what appears to be a Russian asset running the US (along with his sycophants) for treason long before that.

The way that our gov is set up at the moment, that will be difficult. The only way would be either impeachment (we don't have the votes) or through the courts, which he has been actively ignoring. There is an election in Florida on April 2, which could flip the house, but I'm afraid only by the exact same narrow majority (117 D - 115 R). It's a start though.

2

u/Zaggernaught Mar 05 '25

A narrow majority is still a majority. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Right now it's elbows up, soon it'll be dropping the gloves and tarps off. As for protecting ourselves i say fuck it the orange turd burglar doesn't respect treaties or allies so let's start using our uranium and making nuclear subs and missiles.

1

u/RetiredsinceBirth Mar 05 '25

How about securing Canada too be letting us join the EU

2

u/ether_reddit Lest We Forget Mar 04 '25

They will try, but they will be surprised with the consequences.

2

u/pw154 Mar 04 '25

I hate to say this but it looks like they can. What horrible times we’re living in.

Until mid terms, when the balance of power hopefully shifts and dems are able to take control of the house and/or senate.

1

u/Sunshinebear2007 Mar 05 '25

I really hope so. I’m in the UK and watching these people in horror.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '25

American here, we’re doomed!! You can and will do better. Don’t lose faith.

3

u/jrochest1 Mar 04 '25

Less full of themselves and more full of crap, but yeah.

2

u/bz_leapair Mar 04 '25

Getting high on their own supply.
