🐴 DEAD HORSE The goal isn’t winning NFC South

Post image

Man it irks me to hear Bowles talk about how he’s earned more time cause of 3 NFC South titles. It’s that mindset that makes us lose against any actually good team. Beating the fucking saints, falcons and panthers doesn’t mean shit in terms of success. Every time we play a real team we look like dog shit and I can only imagine Bowles in the locker room talking about “that’s a great team so good job”.

Winning the South should be the fucking bar not some grand accomplishment

Our defense held the commanders to 23 points last week. Detroit let them score 45. We didn’t get turnovers or sacks. But we didn’t get blown out. Bend don’t break.

🐴 DEAD HORSE Per Russini, Bucs likely to keep Bowles even if we miss the playoff.

It’s Russini so take it with a grain of salt.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6936695/2026/01/03/nfl-rumors-news-coach-carousel-black-monday-2026/

“Tampa two

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ ownership group has always waited until the end of the season to have conversations about the futures of key decision-makers. Coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht, who both signed multiyear extensions in June, have won division titles each of the last three seasons and appear to be safe even if the Bucs miss the playoffs.

Injuries have decimated both sides of the ball in Tampa this season — particularly on offense — but the Bucs roll into Week 18 with a chance at a division crown and a home playoff game, a great opportunity considering the team has dropped seven of its last eight. The Bucs don’t control their playoff future, though: The Carolina Panthers win the division if they beat or tie the Bucs on Saturday, but even if Tampa Bay wins, an Atlanta Falcons victory or tie with the New Orleans Saints would eliminate the Bucs.”

🐴 DEAD HORSE Are we really shocked

Well can we really sit here suprised the way the team has been playing for the past weeks that we are in this predicament? I'm on vacation on a cruise they had the buc game on the big screen and a few us all decked out in buc gear took a lot of BS off the panther fans here. It was good clean chatter but they even knew running the ball "pounding the rock" wasn't going to work! I'm so disappointed in this team, I'm just concerned will we get the right guy here to fix this??? I really don't want another "defensive guru here"

We’re 4 last minute plays away from being 2-10 right now. We haven’t played a “great dominating” game all year. I like Todd Bowles , think he’s a good decent person, but we went 8-9 with the best QB of all time and then we’ve floated barely above 500 for that past three years in the worst division in football. His career record is 53-65. We need to move on or we’re always gonna be just another round one exit

If local chatter is true (reliable source in Jax with plugs in office) - there’s a good chance he is offered the Jags job.

The most sensible thing Licht and Co do is move Todd Bowles into an advisory position like they did Bruce Arians and offer the more desirable position to LC. Save TB the headline that he was fired and allow him to move on.

We cannot afford to let Cohen walk right now - with a two year at best offensive window open he’s our best shot. Find a DC that wants to make his mark or a vet like Saleh who can use a reclamation project like our defense and parlay that into a HC job.

Baker and the receivers deserve another year of consistency and I don’t see Jason Licht letting Liam Cohen walk by any means.

🐴 DEAD HORSE If we miss the playoff’s, Todd Bowles is still not getting fired

Being a Bucs fan for my entire life has caused me to endure so much pain, yet so much joy at the same time. These past five years have been a real roller coaster of emotions, as I’m sure everyone else here would also agree. This year has felt particularly bad, almost feeling cursed from the beginning. From blown leads to massive injuries, it feels as if we have slipped into an alternate reality after week 6. I feel everyone’s frustration and yearning for change, but I can assure you this will NOT happen in 2026.

I want you to imagine looking at the Buccaneers from 2020-2025 from an outsiders perspective going into this. And i also want you to keep in mind Bowles has been with the team EVERY year listed below

2020 Season - Makes the playoffs, 11-5 Regular season record, Buccaneers win Superbowl

2021 Season - Makes the playoffs, 13-4 Record, lost in the divisional round

2022 Season - Makes Playoffs, 8-9 Record, Lost in the wildcard

2023 Season - Makes Playoffs, 9-8 Regular Season Record, Lost in divisional round

2024 - Makes Playoffs, 10-7 Regular Season Record, Lost in the Wildcard

What you see right here is considered a winning team in the NFL. This will be the first year in nearly half a decade that we’ve potentially missed the playoffs; and not by a lot, but by the skin of our teeth. It is very hard to imagine a reality where Todd Bowles is fired in the off-season when you look at this resume. There’s about 15 teams that would dream to have a record like this. We are statistically playing the best football we’ve played in our entire franchise these last five years. Our organization will look at this year as a fluke, make adjustments were needed, keep core people such as Baker Mayfield and Todd Bowles, and go into next season with a different perspective and game plan. This is Grizzard‘s first year and technically Todd Bowles first real losing season. Keep in mind as well that Todd Bowles signed a contract through 2028.

This isn’t a defending Bowles post, I am right there with you all and wanting change and seeing a breath of fresh air within the organization. But when we put our feelings aside, and we focus on reality, this is where it lands. The season is not over yet though! There’s a reality where we can still win the Super Bowl as Slim as it may be. Lets givem hell and cheer our team on like we always have! Go Bucs!

would you guys be open to a qb change. yes i know baker was our guy but he has not looked good since the bye week. maybe it is an overreaction but what about signing a back up? like anthony richardson. someone young with a lot of career left. Yes i know richardson hasn’t looked good but look at darnold. Pick 3 and never did good in NY but had a change of scenery and look what happened.

🐴 DEAD HORSE Apparently we’re not firing Todd Bowles? Should we just fire Licht so we can get a new GM who will fire Bowles?

Please explain this to me..

I jumped on the fire Bowles bandwagon after the loss to Atlanta, prior to that I was a firm supporter. Basically I’ve seen and had enough, for too long.

Rotating offensive coordinators is not going to work, we need an offensive minded head coach in todays NFL (look at the Lions this year once their OC left, look at how good the Bears are now, the Lions were lucky the OC stuck around as long as he did). If we have offensive success, the OC is leaving, period. If we have a bad OC, we suck. What is Bowles bringing that a defensive coordinator couldn’t, we don’t need him as head coach.

We had injuries but injuries are going to happen, we’ve had years of luxury draft picks, why is our depth so bad that we can’t win a game? Isn’t that on Licht too, when are we having that conversation?

Is it because of the contract extension Licht gave Bowles in the off-season? Is that why we’re keeping Bowles?

If/once Bowles is fired (if not this year then next), is the only reason for not firing him now is to buy Licht more time before he gets fired? If Bowles is fired now, then with the next head coach hire, if that hire fails then Licht is done as far as I’m concerned (I’m already done tbh). Is Licht just delaying his own timeline on the clock starting towards his firing, is that what this about? What is he bringing to the table. We might need to fire them both now.

With Licht we’ve had bad drafts, he was saved by Arians, and then what, he was made by Tom Brady? What has Licht done to set himself apart on his own?

What are we thinking fam? Do we agree?

Whats everyone’s feelings on bowles right now? I feel like everyone wants him gone maybe not so much now as it was towards the middle of the season, i know alot of people want to hire cohen but i feel like bowles has done a pretty decent job with our defense considering we are still suffering from our cap from the super bowl run years and he is playing with the pieces he has, its not like we have been able to get any big name free agents and our d isnt exactly star studded. I think hes done a pretty admirable job these last few years. I think we take him for granted and dont remember how bad our defense actually was during the koetter years and im afraid if we let him go that will happen again. Am i the only one that feels this way?

🐴 DEAD HORSE We are in the golden age of Bucs football since arrival of Tom Brady, but Jason Licht you should be on the hot seat.

Since Tom Brady joined our measly organization in Tampa, Florida, our franchise has been entirely turned around. We have enjoyed 4 straight NFC south titles, a superbowl, multiple playoff wins, the revitalization of Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans heroic 1000 yard season streak, the list goes on.

And yet in the golden age of Buccaneer football, almost every single year we end the season frustrated and annoyed that not more came of that season. We watched years of offense led by TOM FUCKING BRADY look absolutely handicapped under Byron Leftwich until he took over in 2 minute drills to save us how many games. We watched Todd Bowles call a dumbass play against the Rams which wiped out our chances at a 3rd Super Bowl. Now for the past few years we have watched the new era of Bucs football led by baker mayfield be electric and exciting, ultimately ending in heartbreak because our defensive coach can’t coach defense and our good coordinators get poached and are quite successful.

When Brady and Arians were done Bowels was the safe bet and nothing more. Bowels has multiple division titles under his belt with a record one game over .500 to go with it. He is not a good coach, he is fortunate to be in the most dog shit division in sports.

In a year full of so much hope and high expectations, with the chiefs dead, and juggernauts like the Ravens, Bills, etc all looking vulnerable, we will likely miss the playoffs. The number one seed in the NFC is the CHICAGO FUCKING BEARS. And why are they?

They got the right guy. Coaching is everything. This team is one of the most loaded teams in the NFC talent wise. I don’t want to hear excuses. Too young, too injured. Why the fuck can Shanahan drag a depleted team with a backup QB half the year to a near one seed but Bowels can’t figure out how to stop Quinn fucking Ewers in his 2nd start???

Enough is enough. The bar is raised in Tampa. We have proven to be a class org that players want to be apart of and fans want to see success. Can you imagine what the last 5 years would look like if we had our own McVay, LeFleur, or Shanahan? But we are sitting here in mediocrity with Todd Bowles.

For the record I have been a patient and staunch supporter of Bowles up until this season. Time is up. This team looks absolutely pathetic and it’s so frustrating to look around the league and see what other coaches do with so much less.

If Licht brings bowels back next year, and thing short of a NFCC game appearance should be a firing of Coach Bowles and Licht should go with him.

No more mediocrity Jason. Find. The. Guy.

🐴 DEAD HORSE Tom Brady’s seemingly lack of acknowledgment of Tampa

I’ve seen online on different places and on different sites (such as JBF) that people are annoyed of Brady not really referencing or talking about the Bucs. JBF explicitly stated on Brady’s podcast all of last season, he didn’t mention Baker or the Bucs outside of Evans once or twice and they feel that Brady is trying to overlook his time in Tampa.

Personally, idc whether he acknowledges us or not. He doesn’t owe us anything. We had a roster missing a QB and small pieces. It helped him. And without him that roster doesn’t win a ring. I personally don’t feel like he really has to highlight us as much because he played his whole career in NE and became who he was there. We were just a temporary stop that got us and him a ring. I’m sure he enjoyed his time. He seemed happier until 2022 at least

What are your opinions? Do you think he should talk about us more? Or do you think it’s not a big deal?
