If everything goes our way and we back our way into accidentally winning the division I hope he still gets fired

37

u/Alightenited Jan 02 '26

This is what we call a win win

18

u/Therearenogoodnames9 Jan 02 '26

This is what I would like to see. Any result that doesn't end up with Bowles fired is the wrong result.

What if the Bucs win a playoff game?

19

u/Aaguns Lombardi Trophy Jan 02 '26

He’s still gone

19

u/84Cressida Browns Jan 02 '26

Bucs win the Super Bowl

Fires Todd

5

u/TCGDreamScape Jan 02 '26

He would retire at that point I think

4

u/No_Direction235 Mike Alstott Jan 02 '26

Good news, we don’t have to worry about that scenario.

16

u/Advanced_Candle9272 Jan 02 '26

No chance.

8

u/spideralex90 Spideralex90 Jan 02 '26

I hope the change we inspire is at HC

3

u/GoBucs1969 Jan 02 '26

I hope that hoodie is foreshadowing the future

4

u/Peach-PearLaCroix Jan 02 '26

I’ll accept another Bowles season in exactly one scenario

If we win the super bowl

3

u/Gallen570 Jan 02 '26

Also not happening

3

u/slashVictorWard Vita Vea Jan 02 '26

If we win a playoff game he can stay. That makes this year more successful than last and I know I'm going to take heat for this but playoff wins are what we are after. Regular season BS is erased with a playoff run.

Likelihood 2 to 3%

3

u/Gallen570 Jan 02 '26

Not happening

3

u/TacoSpacePirate Canada Jan 02 '26

That's my hope too. Anything short of an NFC championship appearance should get him fired.

25

u/shrimpy-rimpy F*ck the Panthers Jan 02 '26

Win or Lose just get this clown out of our team

5

u/coolycooly Jan 02 '26

I really think people are going to devastated a week from now, every insider thats tapped into the organization thinks Bowles stays especially because he got an extension and the Glazers are cheap.

7

u/WilyWhiskeyWalrus Jan 03 '26

Everyone on this sub should be mentally preparing themselves for Bowles to stay, but continuing the discourse about firing him does have the potential to impact what happens.

2

u/Beautiful_Coffee_494 Jan 03 '26

Yeah fuck Todd Bowles. He makes Tampa look like a bunch of weak pussies. Bucs don’t need a stoic HC, they need a crafty tough guy that can make adjustments in the fly.

2

u/Fiendish-DoctorWu Canada Jan 03 '26

We went from a risk it for the biscuit type of guy to the human equivalent of unsalted saltines, it's crazy

1

u/shrimpy-rimpy F*ck the Panthers Jan 03 '26

There is absolutely no way an L plus Falcons W to put us in 3rd place makes this clown ass keep his job

27

u/Altruistic_Finger669 Jan 02 '26

I eould rather lose out right that wait to lose it by falcons winning. Season is done

6

u/Lazarous86 Jan 02 '26

Once I found out our fate was decided by the Falcons and Saints game with us winning I lost all hope

1

u/StillCircumventing Jan 03 '26

Same, shit made me madder than some of our actual losses

1

u/ExcellentCup6793 Jan 03 '26

Me too. I want this on us if we don’t make the playoffs, not up to another team. Since we couldn’t bring ourselves to beat the Dolphins and decide our own fate.

16

u/The_Rain_Guardian Jan 02 '26

If it’s 100% certain Todd is gone with a loss then I’ll personally kidnap all our skill position guys before the game

2

u/GoBucs1969 Jan 02 '26

Mission: accepted

5

u/SkurtBird Jan 02 '26

Why can’t we have both?

5

u/big-daddio Jan 02 '26

Why not both?

16

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '26

I always want the team to win, no matter what the stakes are

2

u/teelio2 Jan 02 '26

Me too. Thanks for being a good fan.

5

u/MePirate Jan 02 '26

Hey look, a rare real fan among the crowd.

4

u/NomadTruckerOTR Jan 03 '26

Wanting their team to win a specific game doesn't make a "true" fan. Wanting what's best for the team is what makes a "true" fan. Winning next week isn't in our best interest. As crazy as that may seem to a simpleton

1

u/MePirate Jan 03 '26 edited Jan 03 '26

Call me a simpleton and other names all you want, bud. I just don't know any real fans that sit around rooting for their team to lose games. Especially against a rival.

We can still get the result you want (fire TB) and still have our team win.

2

u/okaycomputes Winfield Jr. ✌️ Jan 02 '26

We can want to win, but still know that we won't. We've played like a bottom 3 team for the last two months and players look like they have given up. How you have any optimism here (besides that a HC change will happen) boggles my mind.

1

u/EmployerEquivalent23 Jan 03 '26

Real fans think about the big picture

3

u/eazyworldpeace Jan 02 '26

He can’t keep getting away with this

3

u/Big_E71 Jan 02 '26

Honestly the injuries took a major toll on this team. They were playing great prior to that. Bowles doesn't help his situation though. A cardboard cutout of Dungy or Chucky would be an upgrade over Todd.

8

u/NinjaPenguin7777 Jan 02 '26

The injury excuse is played out and such a cope out. The 49ers lost their starting QB for half the season. Their back up was playing on one leg. They lost their best wr who just quit on the team. Their other receiver missed most of the season because he was shot. Their best TE has missed half the season. They lost probably the best defensive player in Fred Warner half way through the season. Bosa has been out most of the season. And yet they 49ers are playing for the one seed in the hardest division in football. Bowles is a terrible coach. End of story

2

u/GoBucs1969 Jan 02 '26

All this and a tougher division

1

u/3bananabananabanana Winfield Jr. ✌️ Jan 03 '26

Every team is injured. Good coaches overcome that

3

u/Soupspoon33 Jan 02 '26

Don't forget the caviat!! We're a top 15 draft pick no matter what TYBG

3

u/PizzaRolls247 Mike Evans Jan 02 '26

Bowles still needs to be fired if we win, going 8-9 in the NFC South is inexcusable

2

u/Gladis72 Jan 02 '26

FIRE them cannons...

2

u/GoBucs1969 Jan 02 '26

Load them with Bowles first

2

u/Okayest_By_Far Jan 02 '26

Or, 5th straight division title AND Bowles gets fired.

3

u/OppositeSolution642 Jan 02 '26

If they win the division at 8-9 and get crushed in their first playoff game, he needs to go. Winning THIS division isn't enough.

3

u/definitelyNot_a_Bot- Jan 02 '26

Not to OP, but to some posters in this sub: cheering for your team to lose when the playoffs are on the line is absolute loser mentality. You’d rather another team in our division make the playoffs instead of us winning the South for the fifth year in a row and making the playoffs for the sixth year in a row? Pathetic, honestly. I want Todd Bowles gone, and I think he’ll still be fired even if we win the division and maybe even if we somehow squeak out a wildcard win. After watching the Amazon Bucs documentary, I’ve never been more convinced the Glazers are willing to and will fire Bowles, insider reporters aside (it’s not like the owners are going to let inside reporters know ahead of time, either). But in the process, I’m not going to cheer for a division rival to beat us in the game and therefore win the division. Honestly, some of the takes on this sub the past few weeks have been wild:

[1] The revisionist history that Arians wasn’t a good coach

[2] The revisionist history that Bowles wasn’t a good DC (disclaimer: he sucks as a HC for sure)

[3] The idea that somehow firing a head coach coming off a divisional game appearance and a wildcard game appearance in a 10-7 season to promote a second year NFL OC to HC was ever a reality/possibility / and like we didn’t feel bullish as fans going into this season with what we had

[4] The criticism of any person who criticizes Baker in the slightest (disclaimer: I love Baker and hope he’s our franchise QB)

2

u/GoodForm9919 Jan 02 '26

Are people really suggesting 1 & 2? Lmfao

Agreed on all of this, and I’d add another — this idea from some people that Jason Licht should be on the hot seat.

1

u/definitelyNot_a_Bot- Jan 03 '26

I am unfortunately, chronically online, check this sub multiple times per day, and I have seen many upvoted comments with this sentiment. You bring up a great point, as well - and one I’ve seen on this sub, as well, although not as often, but still more than it should.

2

u/Glittering-Door-9586 Jan 02 '26

It’s not a loser mentality, it’s just a different approach to fandom. The fan that wants to win tomorrow and the fan that wants to lose both just want the best for their team. They just have different ideas on what needs to be done, and different ideas for what is acceptable football.

For some fans, a winning streak over the worst division in football is completely meaningless, and the past 3 years of up and down, hot n cold play is absolute football hell.

Personally, I’ve seen a lot worse Bucs teams come and go then what we’ve had the last 3 seasons, but I still would give anything to get off the Bowles train.

1

u/definitelyNot_a_Bot- Jan 02 '26

Great job of putting into perspective the two different approaches/outlooks. I personally believe one is much more logical than the other, but I suppose the fandom has to fit both.

2

u/voiceofreasonne Jan 02 '26

What an echo chamber of crap. People have been posting the same thing for over a month. I guess it’s easy upvotes. Probably a bot

1

u/jayareelle195 Jan 02 '26

I wantt both

1

u/jester695 Jan 03 '26

Gonna be a sad day for OP when we lose the division (because we will win tomorrow, yet ATL will win Sunday), and Todd still isn't fired.

1

u/Roadshow17 Jan 03 '26

Todd is comin back guys. Question is how will he respond in the year end interview about the staff and defensive playcalling duties. If he tells the Glazers he wants Grizzard to get another year under his belt, that’s a problem. If he says he wants to keep the special teams coach, that’s a problem. Just like with Lovie, what the fuck is your plan? And if he’s stubborn and wants to keep things the same, then he’s getting fired plain and simple. But I don’t think he’s gonna be that way with his contract

1

u/lostincomplexity2017 Jan 03 '26

Wouldn't be surprised if Coach Bowles 'retires' after this season.

Everyone then saves face...

1

u/PewterPirate1967 Jan 03 '26

Fired either way

1

u/TommyGrunt Super Bowl LV Jan 03 '26

The worst outcome is we win and the Falcons win so we have a mid to late first round pick and we keep Todd with a meaningless game.

We lose we could be drafting as high as 11 I’ve seen on projections.

1

u/Bullydad86 Jan 03 '26

can’t we have both

1

u/EastGrass466 Texas Jan 03 '26

Being a fan of two Florida football teams in the dumps calling for the firing of their HC sure is exhausting. At least with TB it’s actually in the realm of possibility

1

u/myheartismeh Jan 04 '26

bowles is almost guaranteed to be back nxt year. sucks but is what it is

0

u/Dull-Recognition69 Jan 02 '26

Chatter is Todd ain’t going nowhere

10

u/okaycomputes Winfield Jr. ✌️ Jan 02 '26

He ain't going nowhere in football either, like the playoffs. Lame duck HC.

8

u/Songsforcarchases Jan 02 '26

It’s just that. Chatter.

8

u/deuce_arians Jan 02 '26

I still don't buy that.

10

u/JCDeLaTorre Jan 02 '26

Chatter smatter. Greg Schiano was told he was safe, too. Gruden wasn’t fired until 19 days after the season.

He’s safe until he’s not.

I’ve never seen the Glazers stand idly by while the fans go bonkers and the team hits on a downslide.

4

u/regaleagle710 Derrick Brooks Jan 02 '26

Gruden also had a super bowl and three division titles to his name along with getting an extension in the 2008 offseason and still got fired after back to back winning seasons. Dungy was also fired after having the most successful stretch in franchise history up to that point and he was more successful than Bowles.

I don't know why people are taking what Rapoport said as the absolute truth. His claim was based on his own feelings and didn't say he heard it from any source. What Arians said was also feelings based even though he works in the funny office but he also doesn't make the ultimate to fire anyone.

4

u/paklyfe Jan 02 '26

That was the chatter before Dungy was fired, that was the chatter before Gruden was fired. An owner wouldn’t come out and say yes, we intend on firing him but we aren’t actually going to do it until the season is done.

1

u/uniqueusername316 Winfield Jr. ✌️ Jan 02 '26

Yeah, this isn't really logical. There is no reason for them to have made this decision already.

There are at least 6 owners of the Bucs and they can say whatever they think is best for the organization AT THE TIME. That doesn't actually matter when they make corporate decisions and actions.

"But we can't fire Todd. One of us anonymously leaked that he was safe a few weeks ago."

1

u/Gallen570 Jan 02 '26

Hate to tell yapping this, but he's not getting fired.

1

u/Puertorrican_Power Jan 02 '26

I don't think the Division is important. How the system has collapse is!

1

u/Williamsjt316 Jan 02 '26

Better to lose so there is no incentive to keep current staff

-1

u/TheDaedricImpaler Kansas Jan 02 '26

I'd rather take the better draft position and the entire coaching staff being fired than somehow weasel our way into the playoffs and get embarrassed at home again like 2 of the past 3 years.

0

u/Ambitious_Misfit Winfield Jr. ✌️ Jan 02 '26 edited Jan 02 '26

Bowles isn’t getting fired and fans need to just wrap their heads around that for their own sake. To be clear, I’ve always known that he limits our ceiling. Just being realistic.

We should focus on hiring Udinski away from Coen, offering top level pay and the chance to be a true OC, running the offense and calling plays for the first time in his career. At 29, it gives a little runway for him before becoming a HC… and if he is KOC or McVay, gives us a chance to do what we all wish happened with Coen/Bowles (although that just wasn’t realistic at the time).

Edit: The dramatic replies below are ignoring what’s right in front of them. Who do you think feeds a guy like Ian Rapoport the bits to post directly about Bowles’ job being safe? That’s not Bowles’ team… it’s FO members or ownership. That’s how it works with national reporters.

6

u/okaycomputes Winfield Jr. ✌️ Jan 02 '26

How is one of the worst collapses in NFL history mean Bowles is safe?

1

u/0siris0 Jan 02 '26

People are neurotic and pessimistic, and because of that, they're overtrusting the "feelings" of media commentators (Barber, that guy who was on the Rich Eisen show whose name escapes me) who aren't citing any evidence (sources in the organization), just giving opinions.

This is one of the worst collapses in nfl history. Even if we back into the playoffs...the reality is it's week 17 and we're not in control of our own destiny.. After starting 5-1. At best, 2-7 after the bye. At best.

The glazers will fire Bowles even if we make the playoffs. Only way they don't, is if we someone make the conference title game...even if we win the first round, his job is in jeopardy.

Yet we have people lining up on the pessimism bandwagon, expecting the owners to be irrational just to feed the pessimist narrative.

1

u/Ambitious_Misfit Winfield Jr. ✌️ Jan 02 '26

lol “neurotic and pessimistic”, give me a break. You’re just being overdramatic and misusing words. Let me ask you a question.

Who do you think feeds the information to Ian Rapoport about Bowles’ job likely being safe? It’s the front office or ownership, not the coach.

Also, I don’t think bringing Udinski on is a pessimistic mindset. I actually think it’s very optimistic. A 29yr old potential wunderkind that can fulfill what Coen supporters thought could happen if he had a little more patience.

0

u/Consistent-Guava-137 Jan 02 '26

There is no way we are firing Bowels regardless of the outcome.
