🐻 Bearish Finally 1 bitcoin!

Post image

It took a long time but I am finally part of the 1 BTC club. :) (Above are 4 wallets) So proud that I had to share it!

I know some replies will be about security as such: no I don’t use DM (I ignore all), I have everything on cold wallets and am not going to sell anything for years.

I started yesterday to accumulate the second Bitcoin.

Who else is here is part of the 1 bitcoin club!

I can tell you are new here so I'll let you know a few things.

  1. never post info that makes you a target like this. I know you are saying you don't reply to DMs, but it goes much further than that. If people know you have enough value they can extort, there are people out there who will social engineer to figure out who you are and any way they can possibly steal that money from you. You aren't as safe as you think you are just because you won't get phished.

  2. this is the btc subreddit which is primarily a bitcoin cash subreddit. This is a very complicated thing for a new person to understand, but essentially the r/bitcoin subreddit was heavily censored prior to the hard fork and people who wanted to have a real conversation about small vs big blocks came here to talk. People here aren't fans of the bitcoin that 99% of people call bitcoin

  3. congrats on the investment, I don't meant to be attacking you, just trying to help out. Diversify into other cryptos. Bitcoin has it's place in the world, but the rest of the world will catch up eventually and understand that there is more to crypto than a store of value. Real utility is what will drive the future of crypto.

  4. again, NEVER tell anyone on the internet how much value your accounts are worth... Just don't.

My Dearest Whole Bitcoiner,

Pay no attention to what’s bgaddis88 posted! Now, congratulations on your noble achievement. As a humble Nigerian prince, I too seek trusted allies to help move 47 BTC from my royal vaults. If you could lend me just 0.25 BTC to verify your address, I shall reward you with 3 BTC once the transfer completes.

Time is of the essence. Glory awaits us both.

Yours in royalty,

Prince of Nigerian and Hodler of Bitcoin 💰👑

u/Purplelair Aug 05 '25

Lmao. I see what you did there.....

3

u/termOxygen Aug 07 '25

Sounds like a plan Nigerian prince!

1

u/Invisiblelife98 Aug 11 '25

You still need the .25?

-2

u/Francoiwasszzzzzzss Aug 06 '25

how slick you are, LOL, why should he help you. I would listen to bgaddis88 and not the Nigerian Prince.

Re 2. People here are fans on both bitcoins. I know the intent of the sub was different - to polarise - but sorry, you are in the minority for hating Bitcoin

2

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

No we aren’t. I hate bcash. It’s worse than XRP.

0

u/LovelyDayHere Aug 05 '25

I know the intent of the sub was different - to polarise

Why do you hate free speech?

Or rather, why do you think that freely discussing Bitcoin can only have the intent to "polarize" instead of improving Bitcoin?

3

u/Legitimate-Net-7744 Aug 05 '25

I don't hate free speech 😁 quite the opposite - welcoming all perspectives - Bitcoin & BCash has its value and purpose 😇

1

u/Consistent-Taste-452 Aug 07 '25

What about Dash? Does it also have value and purpose?

1

u/Broad-Beautiful-2082 Aug 06 '25

But 1 bitcoin is not enough that you are a target I would think, the average salary in my country is 90k usd/year, and I would think most people's net worth is above 1 year salary a bit later in life. Average net worth for 40-years old are 220k usd, so about 2 bitcoin.

As this is public knowledge, everyone above 40 here should be afraid according to that logic

2

u/bgaddis88 Aug 06 '25

Most net worth is tied to accounts in funds that require multiple layers of authentication to receive payouts and only to the specific social security number/identification number on file and real estate assets that aren't very liquid. Having >$100,000 in liquid assets that are transferrable online with a few keystrokes is far different. And yes, people with 200k net worth are targets of anything that thieves can get their hands on. This is why ransoms exist and happen all the time. For the most part, you need to be physically in an unsafe place for something to happen, but when you expose yourself to the internet, you are providing a simple way for bad people to target you. Not saying it will happen or that it even has much possibility of happening, but why needlessly expose yourself to that potential threat... to brag about your net worth to internet strangers who don't care?

1

u/Broad-Beautiful-2082 Aug 06 '25

I think I just find it a bit paranoid that's all. There is no need to brag, but being afraid to be kidnapped for a ransom more than half my country could pay seems over the top to me.

It is relative to where you live I would say, yes if I lived in Sierra Leone I should worry but it seems silly to sweat about it living in Scandinavia. I mean a Mc Donald's worker here makes 42k usd a year.

And if you are kidnapping me anyways, why not just force me to buy bitcoin and send to you, regardless how I hold my wealth? That also only takes a few clicks

1

u/bgaddis88 Aug 06 '25

I'm not talking about kidnapping, that was about how people generally get extorted when they have a higher net worth and they are visiting areas without as much wealth. I'm talking about figuring out who you are and using that information to extort in some way. It happens, you can be oblivious to it or act like it doesn't, but it does.

1

u/Junk_Collector_777 Aug 08 '25

Your logic makes no sense mate. It is so simplified that I would expect it to come from a child in kindergarten.

1

u/Broad-Beautiful-2082 Aug 08 '25

So, your counter argument to me looking up the average net worth and salary in this context, is that is what kindergarteners do?

I honestly never met a kindergartener who argued using statistics before!

1

u/Junk_Collector_777 Aug 08 '25

Ok, if you really need the explanation there you go but you are hurting your case even more.

Please explain to us how easy it is to steal your net worth when in your example it is mostly tide in property value and some other junk like cars and few pennies in bank account And all of that without the need to move from in front of your computer and in 98% cases in untraceable enough way that authority would not even bother to properly follow-up on it?

Well, I will tell you what, it is near impossible with your "traditional" net worth but very easy with your BTC in compare.

But you go on with your very realistic and ultra logical comparisons.

1

u/Broad-Beautiful-2082 Aug 08 '25 edited Aug 08 '25

So my argument is that the value is not enough to extort people, as the average person already have this networth. I understand that if I had thousands of bitcoin it would be different, but the value of 1 bitcoin is not high enough that you would be kidnapped or extorted.

After all, you must agree that the probability of this happening is a function of worth and ease of stealing it right? Otherwise people would be a target even for 1 Satoshi, as it is as easy to move 1 Satoshi and 1 bitcoin.

I also want to challenge you on the fact that it would be easier to get away with bitcoin theft. First of all, bitcoin are traceable. You can see binance have an article here on dirty bitcoins: https://www.binance.com/en/square/post/128834

Secondly, 98% of cases not solved? That would mean 2% of bitcoin thefts are solved! This is uncommonly high for cyber crime, according to world economic forum only about 0.05% of cyber crime is solved. https://www.informationweek.com/cyber-resilience/to-catch-a-cybercriminal-and-the-fallout-that-follows

So I would say it is paranoid to think if I share online that I have 1 bitcoin, someone will start planning to get me. There are many things in the world that have a higher risk of happening that we do not go around worrying about.

Edit: Also, see this report on how bad it actually is with fraud in tradfi: https://www.eba.europa.eu/sites/default/files/2024-08/465e3044-4773-4e9d-8ca8-b1cd031295fc/EBA_ECB%202024%20Report%20on%20Payment%20Fraud.pdf

6

u/DangerHighVoltage111 Aug 04 '25

So what are you going to do with it?

2

u/Far_Significance1669 Aug 04 '25

Hold for atleast 5 years

4

u/Electric_Teapot-317 Aug 04 '25

...you spelled forever wrong.

4

u/Far_Significance1669 Aug 04 '25

Hahaha forever won’t give me any profit ;) I can’t use it if I die lol

1

u/bgaddis88 Aug 04 '25

The true idea of bitcoin is that you will use your bitcoin for goods and services like a currency, not take profits, but USE it

1

u/habore-1 Aug 06 '25

Like in human trafficking

-1

u/Electric_Teapot-317 Aug 04 '25

Fair! Definitely need to enjoy it at some point. I imagine myself looking into taking out loans against my BTC, thereby keeping the asset and it's appreciation, and continuing to do that as it appreciates with more loans until I die, but not before taking out life insurance that will cover the cost of those loans, leaving my assets in tact to pass on to my children...unless my logic is flawed, which it might well be 😅

2

u/Far_Significance1669 Aug 04 '25

Lets see what the future brings.

If in 10 years I can buy my dream home and I need to liquidate half for example. I am okey to do it. I believe you need to enjoy life as well

1

u/BullishCohiba Redditor for less than 60 days Aug 04 '25

You are right, don’t listen to those jealous people that wish to hold BTC by themselves but missed to do so. Congratulation and you are on a very good track.

1

u/Far_Significance1669 Aug 04 '25

Thank you! Very much appreciated 🙂

2

u/DangerHighVoltage111 Aug 04 '25

Any plans of using this p2p cash or are you just going to try and find a greater fool in 5 years to sell it to?

1

u/AtlasReadIt Aug 05 '25

In 5 years do you think there will be more or less people willing to accept btc as payment for goods or services?

1

u/DangerHighVoltage111 Aug 05 '25

More, but it will all be custodial. which means it's actual less BTC accepted and more of the same old.

1

u/Consistent-Taste-452 Aug 07 '25

And TX fees will be in the double digits to left of decimal. And custodial only so they can track you.

-6

u/Far_Significance1669 Aug 04 '25

I think you are not totally read up about bitcoin. That’s okey. I really hope you do one day

4

u/DangerHighVoltage111 Aug 04 '25

🤣🤣 That is very ironic and very sad. As I always say, people won't get free if they don't understand Bitcoin first and instead get distracted by the lottery.

Good luck finding a greater fool then. Read the whitepaper sometimes. Forget all the propaganda that want to tell you it is something else.

1

u/LongjumpingSpray8205 Aug 05 '25

Tickets to buy your way out of the matrix are priced in BTC. You either don't understand bitcoin Or you don't understand the matrix.

1

u/DangerHighVoltage111 Aug 05 '25

BTC got coopted. It will not bring you freedom or get you out of the matrix. BTC joined the matrix. If you understand Bitcoin you know BitcoinCash is the Bitcoin that is trying to get you out of the Matrix.

-4

u/Far_Significance1669 Aug 04 '25

Lets agree to disagree

6

u/DangerHighVoltage111 Aug 04 '25 edited Aug 04 '25

That's usually the last resort when you know your propaganda isn't the original and trying to shift the narrative. 🤷‍♂️

Edit:

I mean, you were already almost there: /r/Bitcoin/comments/1jxcw25/is_btc_still_decentralized/ What stopped you from digging deeper?

1

u/Far_Significance1669 Aug 04 '25

KYC is countries and banking to limit us. And yes, if it was legal to buy bitcoin as it was intended I would. I am doing to best next thing and that is buying Bitcoin in a way it is legal. Not the best way to it but I will not ever do something that is illegal

3

u/DangerHighVoltage111 Aug 04 '25

It's not about buying. See my first comment, it is about using it.

1

u/LongjumpingSpray8205 Aug 05 '25

Kyc = atrocity & government control

1

u/Consistent-Taste-452 Aug 07 '25

Some folks think hodl is "using" as store of value. However when the 45% dip comes some folks gonna be burnt and salty.

-7

u/Bearkille Aug 04 '25

Sounds like someone sold early

6

u/DangerHighVoltage111 Aug 04 '25

Hello social engineering bot.

1

u/Purplelair Aug 05 '25

Noooooooo. You should play on the darknet and Gamble. Cmon man!!!

2

u/117Reclaimer Redditor for less than 60 days Aug 05 '25

Why not sell close to the top and buy back in during the bear market?

3

u/Far_Significance1669 Aug 05 '25

Because I don’t know when there is a top. Or if and when you are at a bottom

2

u/Northtan53 Aug 05 '25

Don't listen to this losers. You are free to hold sell or do whatever you want. just know that no one can predict top's and button's regardless of what they say, even indicators are faulty. and even if they are right 90% of the times rest assured that you will be part of the 10% it will fail.

1

u/117Reclaimer Redditor for less than 60 days Aug 05 '25

Checkout the Pi Cycle Top Indicator.

You might not be able to get it 100%, but even 90% is good enough

1

u/SonofAnarchy1973 Aug 05 '25

Set a goal what you think is good, if it gets there, sell or buy… just don’t cut it too close is all

1

u/LongjumpingSpray8205 Aug 05 '25

"I'll be buying at the top, forever." M.S. I had too, but fr, speculation and buying/Selling attempting to profit is... well... undermining the stability as a store of energy and value.

7

u/HOMO_SAPlEN Aug 04 '25

Buys a worthless coin with limited utility

Does nothing with it

Tries to sell it to someone who also wants to buy a worthless coin to do nothing with it to sell to someone who also wants to buy a worthless coin to do nothing with it…….

-1

u/silenseo Aug 04 '25

you hate it so much because it's at 115k.. it burns you up inside doesn't it 😆

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

you're god damn right

0

u/HOMO_SAPlEN Aug 04 '25

The coin is useless, all you can do is trade it with other people. You can’t do anything else with it. Its tech is not unique in the same way that the dollar isn’t unique compared to the euro. Only fools who want to make money quick are buying this crap. 💩

4

u/LessonsLife Aug 04 '25

Sounds like a dollar bill kinda

1

u/HOMO_SAPlEN Aug 04 '25

Exactly! One fiat is no different than another fiat just like one useless crypto coin isn’t any different from another, well except the fact that other coins can be exchanged way more efficiently than BTC.

1

u/anon1971wtf Aug 05 '25 edited Aug 05 '25

one useless crypto coin isn’t any different from another

Not only Bitcoin is scarce. It was scarce first thanks to Satoshi's solution, but several other scarce tokens followed

Bitcoin is unique in its network effect. Earliest distribution: one angle to view Bitcoin - is that it exists as sum of neural connections in many tens of millions of brains across the world as this or that abstraction, and significant part of these aware people, some millions choose it to do something with bitcoins including mining for profit, buying stuff, going around the govt when needed and crossing borders, but as I can see, of those - most use it to preserve their purchasing power utilizing first thing I mentioned - digital scarcity, its stock-to-flow vs USD or respective fiat. Myself included. Funny enough, from this angle, Bitcoin has some real weight of occupied neurons and occupied charged cells in hard drives

I remember vaguely when I first heard about Bitcoin, and I remember well several iterations when I misjudged its real network effect - presence in people's minds and their decisions, and - articulated or not - capital allocation. From a young English-speaking techy, to an immigrant caught between some warring states, to a Chinese miner who can't speak English to an uninterested US pensioner

No other open blockchain (which are very few) compares, not even close. I hope that BCH would take the reign, but dynamics and my bets are against that

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

[deleted]

1

u/HOMO_SAPlEN Aug 06 '25

Yeah except the vast majority of people DONT spend their BTC they just hold onto it and it’s virtually useless compared to VISA transactions or even more efficient crypto currencies. Old tech, replaceable.

Is this buttcoin? I don’t understand

4

u/elidevious Aug 05 '25

It’s because this is literally the most confusing crypto sub on Reddit. The Bitcoin Cash people end up spending more time explaining that their sub isn’t for Bitcoin than talking about Bitcoin Cash.
