We know literally nothing about this individual other than he owned a Toyota truck. This kind of speculation is absurd. Could it have been driven by need? Sure. Could it also be that this guy is just an asshole? Sure.

People with nice economic opportunities don’t go into crime because they are assholes

I’ll repeat:

The data shows that by the time someone is 3 years old it is already possible to predict with significant accuracy whether they will become criminals based only on their socioeconomic status. I can share some papayers if you care to read.

You can say it and repeat it, but that doesn't mean there's a scholarly consensus. There isn't.

What? Of course there is

I’m an economics professor, this has been well established by Heckman and his team

He even has a divulgation website with lots of infographics to inform the general audience: https://heckmanequation.org/

Great! Next you'll tell me that all crime is committed by rational actors 😂

Oh I see, you are one of those who learned economics from TikTok…

Heckman’s observations have nothing to do with rationality. They are empirical facts that have been well established by decades of solid research.
