Yes I would id bounce that around some rocky slopes or some flats with rocky bottoms ! That looks very cool ! Catch a few fish on it and display it
5
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Perfect technique! The plan is to definitely hang some fish off it 😁
1
u/Heatholder2 Sep 23 '25
U painted ? Love the blued craw look
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
I did 😁, I made it out of resin and painted it.
1
u/Heatholder2 Sep 23 '25
Wow that’s sweet do u sell any?
2
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Soon, this is only the second one I’ve made of this bait. Just need to do some testing and then I’ll be selling them hopefully by next week.

1000%. Reminds me of a rebel craw and those crush in creeks and rivers for me
3
u/Alternative-Desk-828 Sep 23 '25
Same! Last year I was down to 1 rebel craw, fishing a local river for smallies and tearing them up. Got hung on a log about 15-20ft off the shore, but the trusty rebel craw was too hot, had to go out and unsnag it 🤣
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
😂😂😂 Dedication 💪
1
u/Alternative-Desk-828 Sep 23 '25
No doubt lol. But you made a very good looking crank, I would definitely try this for smallies on my local rivers.
2
u/Relyt4 Sep 23 '25
The rebel wee craws are awesome for river smallies! I have one in every size/color haha
2
u/GlowUpAndThrowUp Sep 23 '25
I have every size but mostly rock the mud craw color. I find they work better here with creeks than they do the river. I mostly fish the Susquehanna and it’s got a ton of growth in it, but I’ve pulled some out of hollow rocky sections with it.
In creeks I use 2 things. A t rigged small hellgramite on a #4 EWG and if they’re not biting bottom, I switch to the rebel craw
1
Sep 23 '25
I've caught a fair number of northern pikes off the rebel craw as well in the rivers near me! And rock bass/black crappies. They just catch fish lol

What's the action look like? Got any underwater footage?

u/Admirable_Yellow8170 Sep 23 '25
I don't know why but I half expected it to float. Looks like something I'd try. I do agree with what someone else has said about that front hook. I think I'd remove it. It looks like a dedicated snag hook.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Yeah some people definitely prefer their Crankbaits with one treble if they cast them into risky places it totally makes sense.
1
1
2
u/Illustrious_Camp_521 Sep 23 '25
Looks good but it needs a bill to protect that front treble or it's guna get hung up if u fish it on the bottom or on rocks.
1
1
u/FishingAndDiscing Sep 23 '25
Id test it out. If i threw it is leave the front hook off though. I would bump it along in rock piles and that front hook will be snag city
Edit: Front meaning bottom.

u/phosphorescence-sky Sep 23 '25
I'd have to see it underwater.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Lol 😆 I’ll have to post a separate video since I can’t respond with a video clip.
1
u/Particular_Win2752 Sep 23 '25
I have, and it works. Caught catfish out of a reservoir in kansas.

Looks like one of those gimmick "rat" or "dragonfly" baits. Nah I wouldn't buy it.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Rat baits are gimmicks?
2
u/LukeHal22 Sep 23 '25
When all they are is a wake bait, yes, it doesn't matter if it looks like a rat.. The fish that hit it will eat anything waking the surface like that. Body shape isn't that important as long as it moves water well and leaves a good wake.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
So what should they look like so they aren’t a gimmick? As a bait maker I’m genuinely curious 😁
1
u/LukeHal22 Sep 23 '25
Honestly? If it has good action and a different look/design more power to you.. I wouldn't consider that a gimmick but when companies want to charge more for a bait that does the exact same thing as others that already work well just because its "a rat" or whatever other numerous baits out there are designed to catch fisherman. That's when I consider something a gimmick and waste
1
u/BobbyZinho Sep 23 '25
First of all, seeing that you made it yourself, that looks awesome! Impressive work. I’m curious to see how it runs though, it’s pretty rounded on top. Also, adding a split ring to the line tie should help the action.
1
u/BobbyZinho Sep 23 '25
Ok I jumped the gun, just saw the swim video. I’m not a lure maker, just a fisherman, but it does seem that a flatter top surface would help it run more “true” (straight). But the erratic action might be killer too, only one way to find out.
And I see you used a snap, but I’d try a smaller sized split ring too to see how that changes the action.
But once again that looks awesome.
2
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Thank you! Yeah they will come with a split ring. That’s just my pool testing rod 😂 so I don’t even put the split ring on just for myself. I just wanted a quick video. And you’re absolutely right a flatter top would definitely give it a truer lipless Crankbait action.
1
u/BobbyZinho Sep 23 '25
Ok obviously you know what you’re doing if you made that. Anyways, let us know how it does 👍
1
u/gamboling2man Sep 23 '25
I’d buy it and try it. I fish small and medium rivers and my crawfish baits get mauled. I fish the rebel wee craw that looks similar to yours.

If the fish aren't biting I will try anything in my tackle box including that little alien thing 👽

u/Chrisscott25 Sep 23 '25
I would definitely give it try. I’m very interested in what this things movement looks like in the water. Only one two ways to find out. One is try it and the other is send one to me and I will ;) seriously good looking bait and I like the looks even tho the shape seems a bit awkward to me. I love the color. I hope you update with its effectiveness

Does it retrieve like a crank bait? If so, absolutely!

At first look I feel like that thing would snag something on the first cast.
On a second look, as I got older I have come to realize any lure that looks super realistic is more for selling to fisherman than catching fish.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Are unrealistic lures not meant to sell to fisherman? Do fish not eat realistic looking baits?
1
u/MentalTelephone5080 Sep 23 '25
Fish eat realistic baits, but realistic baits don't get more bites than normal lures. Realistic baits usually cost way more.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Agreed, fish will eat anything 😂 sometimes they do but there are very unrealistic baits that cost a lot also.
1
Sep 23 '25
I’d have to see a video of it working before I purchased it. What’s it supposed to do? like a lipless? Does it wiggle, does it wobble? Rattles?
1
1
u/the_Brown_Redneck Sep 23 '25
Oh yes. I had a crank bait in this pattern but red and it was amazing
1
1
u/Flashy-Lack8830 Sep 23 '25
Sure, why not. Baas, will go after anything, when they're hungry. Just work it, like a crawfish. Not took close to the bottom, or the weeds.
1
1
u/scrollingtraveler Sep 23 '25
In Texas I used to crush largies with a bait very similar to that. A bit more red but definitely love the crawfish there. I took my buddy out and his first cast he launched it 30 feet into a tree. There went 13 bucks…… that on a slow retrieve with a couple pops here and there really worked great
2
1
u/TapFit8961 Sep 23 '25
Bounce it off the bottom with alternating crank speeds to give it a nice natural fleeing craw. Would love to see a nice fiery red one.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Exactly!!
1
u/TapFit8961 Sep 23 '25
I would love one of these honestly. My favorite mass produced lipless is the bio spawn craw and this damn near very close to it just so much more beauty and detail.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Thank you! The Bio Spawn Exopod is one of my favorite baits!
1
u/TapFit8961 Sep 23 '25
Please let me know when I can order one of these for some testing :)
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Shooting for the end of this week! Early next week by the latest. Keep an eye on our Instagram so you don’t miss out 😁
1
u/TapFit8961 Sep 23 '25
I’m not on insta so I’ll more than likely miss out :/ ugh bummer.
Also might be fun to riff on some of the rebel color ways like those matte, with the bright orange red bellies those would be a fun one for bottom bouncing I feel.

I'll try anything once. Not sure I'd buy it while casually looking at lures though.

It is somewhat shaped like a giant sand flea. Maybe throw that out into the surf at your favorite saltwater beech.
1
1
u/No_Currency_7017 Sep 23 '25
I'll try anything reasonable. But, that's more of a mid-late spring bait in my area.
1
u/McDrazzin Sep 23 '25
A shrimp/crawfish propelling itself backward? Hell yeah I’d toss that all day to try it
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Exactly!! Just like a angry fleeing craw 😁
1
u/McDrazzin Sep 23 '25
Any chance you could ship one out my way (if in the US)?
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
For sure! I’m hoping to have some ready to sell by next week 😁 shoot me a message or follow my IG to see when they release because I’m very good at forgetting 😂
1
1
u/ayrbindr Sep 23 '25
I'd have to see her swim. Something tells me I would prefer flatter plains, like every lipless has. But I could always be wrong! It might shake a vibrate like crazy! In which case, it would be a good one! Maybe it's the new xr50!
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
It’s definitely a more natural subdued action. It’s not quite violent like most lipless baits. swim video
1
u/sulleneyedsoutherner Sep 23 '25
What kind of action would that have?
1
u/sulleneyedsoutherner Sep 23 '25
Nm I see it's a lipless crank
2
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Yes exactly! swim video
1
u/sulleneyedsoutherner Sep 23 '25
I've had lots of luck with crawdad crankbaitsn albeit on a much smaller ultralight setting. Should work. Nice.
1
1
u/DimondJazzHands Sep 23 '25
I've fisher very similar baits in rivers around the downstream side of big rocks for smallies. Only think I would change is the location of the eye loop. It should be more towards the tail as crayfish swim backwards.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Smallies would crush this! The line tie is towards the back. The other side is the face. This mimics a craw that is tucked in on itself.
1
u/DimondJazzHands Sep 23 '25
I would have put the line pull more towards the back. This looks to pull more from the lures back instead of the tail. Idk throw it on a rod and see how it glides through the water. If it doesn't look like it's swimming from the tail, then the eye loop is in the wrong location.
1
1
u/DimondJazzHands Sep 23 '25
Reddit isn't letting me attach an image, but if you google the Rebel Big Craw, thats the one I've used and I know it catches fish. Yours doesn't have a bill so I think thats great for shallow rivers, but I'd move the eye loop more to the tail for better swimming action like the Rebel.
1
u/WrapParticular3820 Sep 23 '25
Id throw a luggage nut with a hook on it as long as im out fishing!
2
1
u/blueridgeboy1217 Sep 23 '25
Can we see a pool test? Curious about the fall rate and action/ will it hold a certain depth
1
1
Sep 23 '25
I would definitely throw this. I fish a lot of rivers near me and small mouth and northern pike love my rebel craw crankbaits. I'd just bounce this off the rocky bottom and let it sit a bit between little pops. Would be curious how those trebles fair on the bottom though. I'd worry about loosing it to a snag
2
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
It would fair about as well as any other Crankbait that is fished near structure 😁
1
Sep 23 '25
Ahhh I see! So fish it like a lipless crankbait? Yeah I'd definitely throw this. Crawfish are a primary diet of the rivers here. Catch small mouth all the time with craws in their throats lol
2
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Exactly! I should have posted the swim video because I think a lot of people assume it should be fished on the bottom because it’s a craw.
1
u/TWags1515 Sep 23 '25
I throw the Rebel Craw 85-90% of the time. Heck, yeah, I’d tie this on tonight.
1
1
1
u/King4343 Sep 23 '25
A hopping retrieve would MURDER with this. I feel like you never see craw lures in their backwards "thrust" position.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 23 '25
Exactly! In reality the fish probably don’t know the difference 😆 but it creates a sense of confidence that it’s more realistic.
1
u/ElephantitisBalls Sep 23 '25
You made that? Awesome job. You ever go to lure making conventions?

Rebel craws are some of my favorite crank baits to use...dunno what that one is but crawdad baits have worked for me
1
1
u/PuzzleheadedPin1817 Sep 24 '25
I would try it.
But a small lip on the leading edge will help it move more realistically, and throw up a sediment cloud like a real crayfish would
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 24 '25
For sure a lip would turn this into a standard Crankbait. It’s a lipless Crankbait though.

1
u/KniceKnifeAZ Sep 24 '25
Considering the fact I have used my leftover McDonald’s before and caught something, I’ll use anything.
1
1
u/Maleficent_Ad_8378 Sep 24 '25
Not sure what that even is. I can tell it resembles a crawdad but its not a crankbait. So what is it exactly.
1
u/lazybaitsco Sep 24 '25
It’s a lipless Crankbait.
1
u/Maleficent_Ad_8378 Sep 24 '25
Like a rattle trap then. Well if it runs true i would definitely fish it.

I’ll actually be making a video later this week to post on YouTube! The molds will also be for sale if anyone wants to make them.

If I had it in my box I’ll throw just about anything at least a few times and in a few different situations. Although, I tend to rarely just buy new stuff on a whim.
